Current Palmerston Christian School April 2014 – Currently Northern Territory


Employment Principal
As Principal of the school I am responsible to the NT Christian Schools Board, Palmerston
Christian School Council and CEO for the operation of Palmerston Christian School. This includes
a Preschool for 3 and 4 year olds. A Primary School, Middle School and Senior School.

New Initiatives
● Started and developed the Early Learning Centre, Kingdom Kids
● Together with the School Council established the PCS Strategic Plan towards 2020
● Strategically develop and implement the school’s expansion plan - 4 new classes in 4
years
● Initiated Social and Emotional learning and Well-being programs, Kidsmatters
● Whole School Wellbeing and Spiritual Emphasis Program “Easterfest”
● Proficiency in the implementation, adaptation, management and use of (timetabling,
school management system and student learning portal (Edval, Compass and Canvas)
● Started sports programs
● Introduced service trips and overseas NGO social justice trips
● Built additional facilities including 3 new classrooms and school hall
● Transitioned school to computerised timetabling and Compass Student Database and
Parent Communication Portal
● Targeted approach to needs based education and a whole school approach to planning
for personalised learning and support for students with additional needs using the
Response to Intervention (RtI) approach
● NCCD- Nationally Consistent Collection of Data -driving change and evidence based
adjustments and support for students with disability
● Developed teacher professional learning for data driven learning and visible learning
classroom practice
● Palmerston Christian School’s Parents and Friends group known as “Bridge Builders”
● Introduced focused approach to STEM: Robotics, programming and 3D printing classes
● Pr1me Mathematics implemented across the Primary. Pr1me Mathematics is the
Singapore Maths program aligned to Australian National Curriculum.

Outcomes since starting as Principal at PCS


● Significant increases in NAPLAN and Pat testing data.
● Increase in student enrolment campus wide enrolment of over 130 students.
● Improved financial outcomes for PCS, from deficit to surplus.
● Targeted approach to parental engagement in the school: Bridge Builders, supporting
Past parent fundraisers, whole school community termly family socials and room mothers to
Employment support teachers and co-ordinate active parent and school partnerships.

Marrara Christian College April 2011 – 2014 Northern Territory


Head of Primary
As the Head of Primary at Marrara Christian College. I was responsible to the Principal for the day
to day running of Preschool to Year 6 program. There were 230 students divided into 10 classes in
the primary school. I was part of the executive team which met weekly as part of the College
Senior Leadership Team.
Initiatives:
I implemented a three year strategic plan to develop the academic excellence of Marrara Christian
College's Primary division. This process of school improvement was embarked upon after data
analysis and together with the Primary team of teachers and the Special Needs Coordinator.

Year 1: Support and develop teaching practice across the division:


· Data Analysis of student outcomes:
· Staff Development in use of data to direct resources and student learning.
· Professional Learning Communities of collaborative curriculum development teams.
· Review best practice in Instructional Strategies seeking maximum effect by using research
of Hattie and Marzano.

Year 2: Introduction of Primary Programmes: Academic Curriculum and Positive Behaviour


Management:
· National Curriculum Implementation of English and Mathematics
· Early Years Learning Framework implementation in Preschool.
· Introduction of Accelerated Reading Program across the whole Primary:
· Introduction of Sound Waves Spelling in the Primary.
· Development and refinement of Social and Emotional programs in the Primary:
- Kidsmatters, Tribes, College Wide Positive Behaviour, and 6 to 1 Positive Behaviour
Strategy.

Year 3: Consolidation of academic excellence and professional development for teacher


excellence:
· Focus: Assessment Literacy; Understanding and improving Practice.
· Change Maths core resource to Pearson Envision Maths across the whole Primary.
· Chair the School Wide Positive Behaviour committee
· Implemented Kidsmatters
· Oversight of implementation of National Curriculum in Science and HASS (Humanities and
Social Science).
Developed community and parent involvement programs: Room Parents; Fund Raising
Committee; Parent Academic Liaison.
