4.1 Quick Start


This section introduces the iGWB client and guides you to use the Help. After you learn this
section, you will know well about the iGWB.

4.1.1 iGWB Client


The iGWB client consists of:
 CDR console
 System debugging console

 Chapter 3 introduces the basic operations on the parameter configuration console.


 Chapter 5 introduces the basic operations on the system debugging console.

4.1.2 GUI of the CDR Console


The CDR console enables you to maintain the iGWB. You can perform such operations as
CDR querying, system performance monitoring, log management and user management.
The CDR console is a graphic user interface (GUI) as shown in Figure 4-1. It consists of a
main window, a menu bar, a toolbar, a navigation tree, a sub-window, and a status bar.

Main window
The main window contains all elements of the CDR console interface, including the title,
menu bar, toolbar, navigation tree, and status bar.

Sub-window
The sub-window is displayed after you select a menu or click a shortcut icon, to implement
the specific function.

Status bar
The status bar shows the following information:
 The IP address of the server

 Whether the iGWB Server well connects with the client.


 Operation tips when you click a shortcut icon on the toolbar.

Navigation tree
The navigation tree is composed of tabs, each of which contains the information of an access
point. It displays the CDR storage mode in the server. See Figure 4-2.
 Under Original Bill, the CDRs are displayed by date. The corresponding CDR file is
*.bil.
 Under Final Bill, the bill types (also called channel) supported by the system are
displayed. Under each channel node, the final bills are displayed by date. The
corresponding CDR file is *.dat. The channels are determined by the format library.

For the MSOFTX3000, the channels include “normal”, “hotbilling”, “IMEI” and "VGCS".
The bill formats include:
 normal: CDR
 hotbilling: hotbilling bill
 IMEI: CheckIMEI bill
 VGCG: Group Call CDR

The final bill channel is determined by the distribution type selected by the user while installing the
server.

Toolbar
The toolbar provides shortcuts to the frequently performed operations. On the toolbar, the
shortcut icons vary with the current mode. Table 4-1 lists the shortcut icons on the toolbar.

Menu bar
The CDR console provides the following main menus according to the menu functions:
System, View, Operation, Security, Window and Help. The menus of CDR console are
dynamic, and different operation menu options are provided in different modes. For example,
if the Client is in state query mode, you will see the State Query menu item. Table 4-2 lists
all the menus on the main window of the CDR console.

State Query To enter the state query mode.
Switch To manually switch over the active and standby iGWB
servers.
Upgrade To execute auxiliary upgrade of the system.
Reset igwb To restart the iGWB server.
Trigger File To convert the temporary CDR files in the temp

The iGWB client provides the Help. See Figure 4-3. You can obtain the help information of
relevant topics easily.

Functions and Features of the Help


The iGWB online help system provides the following functions:
− Activate the online help from the interface.
− Find a topic from the Content tab of the online help.
− Shift from one topic to anther.
− Find a topic by using the index and searching function.
 Functions
− Describing the software interface, parameters and configuration principles in details.
− Guiding you to complete operations and maintenance tasks.
 Features
− Easy access: You can access the online help system from any dialog box.
− Navigation through contents and indexes
− Full text searching
 Accessing the online help system from a dialog box
You can find the help information of the related topic directly from a dialog box. To do so,
press F1, or click Help on the dialog box. Wherein, a dialog box refers to a graphic interface

through which you input information into the system, which contains no menu items in
general.

Description of the Help Window


The online help system includes a navigator pane (on the left of the window) and a topic pane
(on the right of the window).
There are three tabs in the navigator pane: Contents, Index and Search. You can find the
desired help topic conveniently.
The topic pane details the information of a topic. It also includes some links to relevant topics.

Using the Help


The basic operations in the online help system include:
 Find a topic through the navigation tree
You can find a desired topic by using the navigation tree on the Contents tab. The navigation
tree is designed according to operators’ habits in routine operations and maintenance.
 Find a topic through the Index and Search functions
You can find a topic by entering a key word in the Index tab. The online help system will list
all the topics whose titles contain the key word.
Similarly, you can find a topic by entering a key word in the Search tab. The online help
system will list all the topics whose contents (full text) contain the key word.

Relationships Between the Help and the User Manual


The contents of the online help system are independent from that of the user manual.
 To help users to retrieve and search related information, the online help system includes
the following two parts of the user manual: Overview and Acronyms and
Abbreviations.
 The online help system describes in detail basic operations and alarm messages of the
iGWB system.
 The user manual describes the product features and functions, system installation,
common tasks, system maintenance, configuration instances and CDR formats.
Table 4-3 lists about the differences between the online help and the user manual of the
iGWB.

4.2 Basic Operations


This section introduces basic operations of the CDR Console.

4.2.1 Starting the iGWB Service


Task Description
This task aims to stop the iGWB server process

Prerequisites
The iGWB server is installed and the parameters in the igwb.ini file are correctly configured.

2 On the lower-right corner of the desktop, the bulb icon is on in the taskbar of
desktop. Now, the iGWB server is running normally.

Only if the iGWB Server works well, the iGWB Client can connect with it.

4.2.2 Logging in to the CDR Console


Task Description
This task aims to log in to the iGWB server from the client, to perform routine management
and maintenance.
The iGWB client is composed of the CDR console, system debugging console, and the
parameter configuration console. The following takes the CDR console as an example.

Prerequisites
 The iGWB server process is running, and the bulb icon is on in the status area.
 No conflicts occur among ports.

Operation Procedure

1 Double-click Frame.exe in the Bin directory under the installation directory of the
iGWB Client, or select Start > Programs > iGateway Bill V300 Client >iGWB
Client. Then the Login dialog box is displayed.

2 In the Login dialog box, enter the correct user name, password, and set the office to
be managed. Then click OK. If the login is successful, the main interface of the
CDR console is displayed.

4.2.3 Locking CDR Console


Task Description
This task aims to lock the CDR console to avoid unauthorized operations.

Prerequisites
You have logged in to an office through the CDR console as admin or a normal operator.

Operation Procedure

1 On the CDR console, select System > Lock System or click on the toolbar (or
press F12).
The Lock System dialog box is displayed.

2 To return to the console, enter your password in the Lock System dialog box, and
then click OK.
To log in to the system again, click Relogin in the Lock System dialog box. In the
dialog box that pops up, click OK to confirm your operation.

4.2.4 Logging out of the CDR Console


Task Description
This task aims to log out of the system.

Prerequisites
You have logged in to an office through the CDR console as admin or a normal operator.

Operation Procedure

1 On the CDR console, select System > Log Out or click on the toolbar. Then the
system asks you to confirm.
2 After you confirm your operation, the system closes all windows of the CDR
console.

4.2.5 Customizing the Layout


Task Description
This task aims to customize the layout of the CDR console as desired.

Prerequisites
You have logged in to an office through the CDR console as admin or a normal operator.

Operation Procedure

Navigation tree (r press F2) to show or hide the navigation tree.

2 On the CDR Console, select Window. Then select
Cascade to display all opened windows in a cascading manner.
Tile to tile all the opened windows orderly on the lower right part of the main
interface.
Arrange Icons to arrange the icons of all opened windows.
Close All to close all the opened sub-windows.

4.2.6 Exiting the CDR Console


Task Description
This task aims to close the CDR console after you complete all the operations on it.

Prerequisites
You have logged in to the office through the CDR console as admin or a normal operator.

Operation Procedure

1 On the CDR console, select System > Exit. A dialog box is displayed, prompting
you to confirm your operation.
2 Click Yes to close the CDR console.

4.3 Managing Offices


Brief Introduction
Task Offices refer to the iGWB server offices maintained by the CDR console.
Description The office management is used to set the IP address of an office.
The system allows you to set the IP addresses of multiple offices so that
you can select any of them to maintain from the client.

On the CDR console, select System > Office Management or click
on the toolbar.
The Office Management dialog box is displayed.

4.3.1 Adding an Office

You must set an office when you run the client for the first time. Otherwise, the client cannot
connect with the iGWB server. Specifically, when the User Login dialog box is displayed On
the CDR console, click Office Management to set the office in the Office Management
dialog box before you log in.

Task Description
This task aims to add an office maintained by the CDR console.

Prerequisites
 The iGWB server is started. The bulb on the status bar is on.
 Ports do not conflict.
 You have logged in to the office through the CDR console as admin or a normal
operator.

Operation Procedure

1 Obtain the IP address of the office to be added, that is, the IP address used by the
iGWB server to connect with the iGWB client (or the NMS).
Define the office name.

On the CDR console, select System > Office Management or click on the
toolbar to display the Office Management dialog box.
3 Enter the following parameters:
 office name
 IP address
 office type
4 Click Set, and then the office information will be listed in the list box. After
confirmation, click Save to add the office.

4.3.2 Modifying an Office


Task Description
This task aims to modify the information of an office maintained by the CDR console.

Prerequisites
You have logged in to the office through the CDR console as admin or a normal operator.

toolbar to display the Office Management dialog box.
2 Select the office to be modified in the list box and enter the new office information
in the dialog box.
3 Click Set, and then the new office information is listed in the list box. After
confirmation, click Save to modify the office information.

4.3.3 Deleting an Office


Task Description
This task aims to delete an office that is no longer maintained by the CDR console.

Prerequisites
You have logged in to the office through the CDR console as admin or a normal operator.

1 Determine the IP address and name of the office to be deleted.

On the CDR console, select System > Office Management or click on the
toolbar to display the Office Management dialog box.
3 Select the office to be deleted, and then click Delete. After confirmation, click Save
to delete the office.

4.4 Managing Operators


Brief Introduction
Task The iGWB system has two types of users with different authorities.
Description Super operator admin: Generated automatically during system
installation, and has the highest authorities. Its default password is null.
Normal operator: Created by admin or a normal operator who has the
authority to create operators. Its user name and authorities are assigned
by its creator. Its authorities can be changed by the super operator.
Through operator management, you can control the authorities of all
operators to avoid unauthorized operations.

Operator Management window is displayed.

4.4.1 Adding an Operator


Task Description
This task aims to add an operator.
After the Client software is installed, the system automatically creates the administrator
named admin. It is the one of administrators in iGWB system and cannot be deleted. Other
operators are added manually.

Prerequisites
You have logged in to the office through the CDR console as admin or a normal operator who
has the authority to manage operators.

Operation Procedure

1 On the CDR console, select Security > Operator Management.


The Operator Management window is displayed. Then the User menu is added
on the menu bar.

Select User > Add or click in the Operator Management window.
The Add Operator dialog box is display.

3 Enter all fields, and then click OK.


View the Operator Management window, and you can find that the new operator
has been added.

Brief Introduction
Task CDR management includes a series of important functions, including

If the first CDR is found, you can click Find Next to display the next CDR

The example only describes the operations against CDRs. The operations against final bills are similar.

4.5.4 Saving CDR Information


Task Description
This task aims to save all or selected CDRs on the iGWB Client in the txt or CSV format.

4.5.6 Outputting a Final CDR Manually


Task Description
This function is to convert the temporary files on the back save disk to final bill files under
the corresponding channel directory.

In general, temporary bill files on the front save disk are output automatically to the back save
disk according to the file size and output interval parameters set in the igwb.ini file.
Therefore, manual outputting of bill files is only performed to check whether final bill files
are output successfully.

You have logged in to the CDR console as admin or a normal operator who has the manual
switch authority.

4.6 Managing Performance


Brief Introduction
Task To know about the current running status of iGWB, such as CPU usage,

indicates the total number of heartbeat links (generally m=2) and
n indicates the number of normal heartbeat links.
n = m: The heartbeat links are normal.
n = 0: All the heartbeat links are abnormal.
n ≠ 0, and n ≠ m: Some heartbeat links are abnormal.
To ensure the reliable running of the system, check the abnormal
heartbeat links and restore them in time.

4.8.1 Customizing Timeout Settings


Task Description
This task aims to set the timeout interval of the client.
Response time refers to the time that the client sends a command to the server, and the server
returns the result to the client.
Timeout period is used to set the maximum response time. If the response time exceeds the
timeout period, the iGWB prompts “Connect Server Failed Relogin?”.

4.8.2 Customizing Lock Time


Task Description

 Set whether to lock the CDR console and the parameter configuration console.
 Set the timeout period before a console is locked.
If such console is not in use in the given period, the console is locked. It is not unlocked until
you enter the correct password.

Prerequisites
You have logged in to the office through the CDR console as admin or a normal operator.

Operation Procedure

1 On the CDR console, click System > System Customize to display the System
Customize dialog box.
2 Set the idle time (in minutes) before the system is locked and click OK.
The default value is 20 minutes.
The value ranges from 0 to 1440 minutes. If it is set to 0, the system will never be
locked.

4.9 Risky Operations


This section introduces the risky operations that can affect the iGWB. You must be careful
when you do such an operation.

4.9.1 Masking Alarm Information


Task Description
This task aims to mask some or all of the alarm messages in the iGWB system.

1 On the CDR console, select Security > Alarm Mask. The Alarm mask dialog box
is displayed.

2 Select the alarm messages to be masked, and then click OK. You can also select all
of the alarm messages by selecting the All alarm checkbox on the top.
3 A prompt box pops up, indicating success. Click OK to finish this operation.

4.9.2 Auxiliary Upgrade

 After auxiliary upgrade, the iGWB stops receiving CDRs.


 If you perform this task by mistake, you can do the manual switchover or restart the
iGWB.

4.9.4 Reset iGWB


Task Description
This task aims to reset active iGWB server manually.

 Perform the auxiliary upgrade before reset iGWB.


 The Reset iGWB function applies only to a single-node iGWB. If the iGWB is a two-node
cluster, use Manual Switchover to restart it.
 If the reset is successful, the server will be disconnected with the CDR console. Therefore,
perform this operation with caution.

You have logged in to the CDR console as admin or a user who has access to manual
switchover.

1 On the CDR console, select Operation >Reset iGWB.
