It was fun
While high school football playoffs continue and the
All-Class State Volleyball Tournament plays out this
weekend, the Scotty fall sports season came to an end
last Friday in Cut Bank when the Scotty volleyball team
was bumped out of the Northern B Tournament. But
what a fine season all the Scotty athletes and fans alike
enjoyed. The football team made it into the playoffs
and gave it hell against Colstrip; in cross country,
the girls placed 4th and the boys were in a close
second to Manhattan in which their coach claimed the
Scotties to be champions as well. Pictured above is
Jan Kaiser scootin’ around on her Scotty Scooter at
the Homecoming Parade, having as much fun as the
kids were. The first day of practice for winter sports —
wrestling and girls’ & boys basketball — is Thursday,
November 15th. Meanwhile Scotty Speech & Drama
already kicked off their season last Saturday in Billings
and will be in Miles City this Saturday.

Morris with the monkey wrench?
Is all that pipe that has been hauled through
Glasgow and headed north all for nothing?
A ruling from Montana federal judge Brian Morris
revoked TransCanada Corp.’s federal permit to build
the Canada-to-Texas Keystone XL oil pipeline, stopping
the company’s plans to start construction next year.
“The Court enjoins Federal Defendants and
TransCanada from engaging in any activity in
furtherance of the construction or operation of Keystone
and associated facilities,” the court document reads,
“until the Department has completed a supplement to
the 2014 SEIS (Supplemental Environmental Impact
Statement) that complies with the requirements of
NEPA and the APA.”
“The department’s 2017 conclusory analysis that
climate-related impacts from Keystone subsequently
would prove inconsequential and its corresponding
reliance on this conclusion as a centerpiece of its policy
change required the department to provide a ‘reasoned
explanation,’” Morris wrote.
“It was a political decision made by a judge. I think
it’s a disgrace,” President Donald Trump told reporters
this morning before heading to France.
“This is going to be the Don Malloy of eastern
Montana,” Aaron Flint pointed out on his morning radio
show, Montana Talks, about Judge Morris.
Don Malloy of Missoula is a liberal Senior United
States District Judge of the United States District Court
for the District of Montana, nominated by President Bill
Clinton in 1995. Aaron went on to explain how some of
Malloy’s rulings have been hard on Northwest Montana
(pro wolves, anti-timber industry, anti-mining, you get
the drift).
“This ruling from a liberal judge in Great Falls
(Morris) on Keystone XL could be devastating to
eastern Montana,” says Aaron.
He had United States Secretary of the Interior Ryan
Zinke on Montana Talks this morning who couldn’t
agree more.
