Make them feel like they belong – Principal
on disabled students
The school principal stressed that CNHS is a PWD-sensitive community, and does not let any kind of discernment get to
its disabled students during the 2017 National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week which started on July
17, 2017.
According to Eusebio, students with disabilities are treated as normal students and are not separated from the
mainstream class because doing that is already a form of discrimination.
Eusebio also emphasized that the school community does not look down, but fully supports enrolled disabled students
in their pursuit of education.
“In fact, there are no trainings [on Special Education] being conducted yet by the Division Office but we are preparing
our teachers to better handle such students,” she added.
Furthermore, she admired the support and attitude of the students during the opening ceremony of the NDPR Week as
she, alongside staff and disabled students, released balloons as a symbol of the school’s acceptance and support to students
with disabilities.
“The balloons mean that all students, with or without disabilities, are all equal,” she explained.
