As always the Out of the Cold Program is

sonal size toiletries for the men to take with them.
Any of the locations will be more then happy to
take in what ever you can provide.

There is also a musical night being ar-

CHAPLAIN’S CORNER Human beings are the only species in God’s
abundant creation who are capable of giving thanks, of
“Now Thank We All Our God” being grateful, of acknowledging our dependence
upon God’s overwhelming generosity. Let us use this

and foster our spiritual growth.
“Now thank we all our God”
Perhaps the most neglected part of Holy Mass
is the time right after Communion which used to be
called the Thanksgiving. Far too often, after receiving
the Body and Blood of Jesus, we amble back to our Rev. L.D. Burns, C.S.B.
pews after checking out who came to Mass this Sun- Chaplain
day (and also who didn’t). Instead of thanking the Kingsway Council
King of Kings and the Lord of Lords for coming to
visit us we often spend those precious moments antici-
pating or actually making an early exit to the parking
lot so we can beat the traffic.

The feast of Thanksgiving should remind each

of us, especially here in Canada, that we enjoy a life-
style unparalleled anywhere else in the world. We en-
joy so many countless blessings from God of health,
family, life, a super abundance of food, clothing, shel-
ter and material prosperity. We are the envy of the
world. And what did you and I do to deserve this
shower of God’s blessings? Not a single thing!

So the feast of Thanksgiving should remind us

Catholics and Canadians that we should be the most
grateful people on earth to Almighty God for all these
spiritual and material expressions of God’s great love
for each of us.

voice or our outer voice. As God listens to us, we have
to learn to listen to Him. If we miss God’s message we
could be missing an opportunity to change. We must
be ready to accept the changes that God puts in front of
us, some will bring joy, some will bring sadness, and
some will bring anger. God is there for us on a daily
basis, minute by minute, second by second helping us
to deal and understand the changes in our lives; to help
us deal with the changes God gives us many gifts, one
of them is FRIENDSHIP, we as Brothers must take
advantage of this great gift from God. Friendship is
important and like change we must embrace it.
Friendship can bring you joy, it can bring you sadness
and it can also bring anger. Remember that friend-
ships will change over time and that you need to be
open to these changes. We will be celebrating our 60th
anniversary on March 12, 2011 at Holy Angels Church
(Mass at 5:00 pm) and dinner & dance to follow. I
invite all members of Kingsway Council to come and
share in this special celebration. It is the perfect oppor-
tunity for you to renew old friendships. Let your
friends, your Brothers know what you have been up to
and how your lives have changed over the years. In
preparing for this special celebration you may also
want to come to one of our General Meeting, this too is
a great opportunity to renew old friendships. You
would be able to share some stories. You would also be
able to see your council now. Your council now is one
that is busy, working with all our parishes, Hope for
Children, Out of the Cold and Free Throw Challenge.
We are involved at the District (106) and Zone
DEPUTY GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE

Brother Knights,

Another fraternal year has begun, and

already we are busy. It is very impor-
tant, however, that we heed
Archbishop Collins plea concerning
the municipal elections this year. It is
our duty not only as Knights, but also as Catholics, to
become familiar with the trustees running for the
Catholic School Board. We must understand their po-
sitions and ideas concerning Catholic Education, and
their responsibilities and obligations to the taxpayers
as stewards of this education. We must also ensure
that our taxes are supporting Catholic Education be-
cause the default option is that the education portion
of our taxes goes to the public school system.
There are 5 candidates running for school trustee in
our Toronto Catholic District School Board Ward 2
(City Wards 3, 5 & 6), and they are Ann Andrachuk
(Incumbent), Adam Grnak, Vincent Corriero, Ihor Everyone is reminded of our annual
Klufas and Monica Lazzara. Please make every effort Memorial Mass for our deceased brothers and
to understand what has happened in the past at the family members. This year the Mass will be
School Board, and then find out about the candidates
held in our council chambers at 8:00 p.m. on
so that you can make an informed decision on voting
day. For more information, you can visit http:// November 9th. Refreshments and goodies
www.curbtoronto.ca/ to understand what is going on. will be served after the Mass.
Also, our largest celebration ever (our 60th anniver-
sary) is approaching fast. If you know of a fellow
council member who hasn’t been active over the past
little while, tell them to keep March 12th, 2011 open
for this important and historical celebration. More
information to come in the near future.

Vivat Jesus!
