COMANDO E MONITORAÇÃO DE DISPOSITIVOS REMOTOS USANDO
INTERNET E REDE SERIAL RS-485
CAIRO L. NASCIMENTO JR., WAGNER CHIEPA CUNHA, OSMAR VOGLER, EDUARDO H. YAGYU
Abstract This article describes a system that has been implemented at the Division of Electronic Engineering, ITA that en-
ables a user, by using the Internet and a RS-485 serial network, to monitor and control a set of remote devices. The main compo-
nents of the system are: 1) a microcomputer connected to the Internet running a standard web browser such as the Netscape or
Internet Explorer browser; 2) a Rabbit 2000 TCP/IP Development Kit board with 10BaseT Ethernet and RS-485 serial ports run-
ning its modified web server software, and 3) a standard IBM-PC-XT microcomputer running a serial/parallel port communica-
tions software, connected to the RS-485 network by its serial RS-232 port and a RS-232/RS-485 converter, and connected to de-
vices to be controlled (a driver circuit that powers 2 small CC motors) and to be monitored (a set of 4 digital switches) by its par-
allel port. The main advantages of this system are: a) by using the RS-485 serial network, the devices that are being monitored
and/or controlled can share the same Internet connection point which reduces the overall cost of the system, b) since nowadays a
standard web browser is available in most computer platforms connected to the Internet, the installation of any special software
in the user's computer is avoided.
Keywords remote control and monitoring, web SCADA, RS-485 serial network, serial port, parallel port.
As
computador do usuário é evitada.
