Universal Design for Learning (UDL) The activities that will be done prior to the quizlet will be done in
multiple ways. Students will learn from a discussion with a power point, then they will learn from reading in
their science books. Students who have special needs in reading will have the book with text to talk options.
And, for the poster students will have a choice of what kind of amphibian they want to draw the life cycle of,
and they will be in pairs to help those who need to work together. The quizlet will have pictures next to the
question to help struggling readers and emerging bilinguals. The quizlet is student paced so students can
proceed through the assessment at their own pace.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
We will discuss the life cycle of amphibians. We will do a lesson in our science books and we will create a
poster of the life cycle of amphibians with a partner.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☒ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☒ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☐ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☒ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: Students will use their tablets to take the
quizlet test. They will work by themselves to answer the questions provided. Teacher will walk around the
room during the assessment and provide assistance to any students that might need help. After, the teacher
will collect the data and proceed to the next lesson if the students show that they have understood the life
cycle of frogs.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☒ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
https://quizlet.com/5fjxn2
Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
After the class has all finished the quizlet, we will go over the answers so that the students can continue the
dialogue and learning. They will get their immediate feedback with this discussion and review of answers.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
We will have a discussion about the correct answers to the quizlet. Through this discussion we will be able to
correct any misconceptions. I will also get to gage how my students feel about taking quizzes on their tablets.

How will the data be used? The quizlet assessment data will be collected and given to me, the teacher. I will
look at what students did well and which did not. This will be a grade for the students. It will also help me
know who understands the material we have worked on for that lesson. I will find out through this quizlet
which students test well with technology and which do not. I can change the quizzes going forward to match
what the students need.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. The learning goal of this assessment is to gage the
knowledge of the students on the life cycle of a frog. It is a Knowledge learning goal.
Reflective Practice: I designed this assessment as a summative end of unit test. It is short because I believe
long test for 2nd graders is poor practice. I feel like having pictures next to the questions is very helpful for all
students, but especially for emerging bilinguals. I think the quizlet is a quick and easy way to assess student’s
knowledge and get instant data. I think that quizlet would be received well from students because they are
already use to taking quizzes and doing class work on technology.
