Abortion is an attempt which is made to terminate the pregnancy before 20 weeks which
cause the death of fetus. It is currently done by people, especially among young women. They
have a variety of reasons for doing this such as health, protection and others. However, some
people see abortion as a criminal act. The discourse about abortion always causes disagreement
in the community which is never ended. Even the government has issued Government
Regulation (PP) No. 61 on the case reproductive health. These new regulation will legalize
abortion. Many people support the new rules but not least also strongly oppose this legislation.
So, how is the headway of the topic of abortion so far? The following are the pros and cons of
abortion.

If it is considering from those who support the legalization of abortion, they strongly
agree with this action by a variety of reasons. The first reason is to save woman because of
health factors. They argue that banning abortion is not protecting women but it will result so
many deaths of women due to unsafe abortion. By legalizing abortion, they no longer have an
abortion in places or clinic that is not safe. There will be appeared abortion practices with has
good medical standard and safe. Another reason is to protect pregnant mothers which endanger
their lives so that requires them to abort their babies.

The second reason is to save women from sexual violence such as rape and others.
Women who are pregnant because of rape definitely do not want the pregnancy. If the pregnancy
is occurred, it will lead to cases of baby neglecting or even murder of baby. Therefore, those who
agree in legalizing abortion assume that it will protect the rights of women and prevent crime for
the baby later.

The reasons above looked logical however, not a few of people against the government
regulation which legalize abortion. There are so many reasons why the legalization of abortion
should be stopped. The first factor is from religious factor. Abortion is prohibited because it is
an act of murder. By aborting their pregnancy, it means they kill their own baby. As we know
that murder is a very big sin for every religion in Indonesia. Therefore, the Government
Regulation (PP) no. 61 should be reconsidered.

Moreover, the legalization of abortion would be misused for those who love free sex.
They are no longer afraid do free sex because they will feel safe, if pregnancy is occurred. It is
what public are afraid of now. As a result the legalization of abortion is going to demoralize the
nation values because of free sex.

Based on the brief discussion above, government regulation (PP) no. 61 which has been
issued raises the pros and cons in the community. Many people agree with this regulation but
many people are also opposed this regulation. As an eastern nation that has a moral, government
should consider stopping this regulation because it is not suitable with our nation’s moral.

Abortion is death and coming out of the womb either spontaneously or intentionally
from pregnancy 22 weeks before the baby is given a gift for life.
Abortion is an action that cannot be done under any conditions except for the benefit of
the mother. This has been regulated in state law.
Abortion is very effective for someone who does it, both in terms of health and social.
In addition abortion that does not meet the requirements and is not done by experts can cause
complications that are very successful and can even cause death.
