Important Information:

• The placement of the Reservoir should be ideally above the Pump

House, so that the gravity ensures that the reservoir water level
remains at an constant without any air gap, this is called positive
suction.

• The Pump House if placed above the reservoir necessitates the use
of additional pipe fitted with a mechanism that has to force out the
air and push the water up to the distribution point, this should be
avoided and is known as negative suction.

• A reservoir ‘depth’ is 1.8 m , this being constant for 1lac litres the
area works out as 10m X 5.5 m.

• A control panel is 650X900’’ with the thickness of about 100’’.

• Manual control points should be kept near exits and entrances.

• The work of a relay module is to trip the air handling units which are
linked to the AC system containing dampeners.
• A ‘Monitor Module’ is a versatile equipment that can be used for
multiple purposes such as extending the exhausted zones by
allowing addition of new zone, however with conventional detectors.
The other functions include temperature monitoring and regulation.

• Gas detectors if at all necessary should be ‘specific’ to the

requirement and composite ones should be avoided.

• Usage of wireless detectors should be avoided, transponders are the

base for the wireless detector.

• One single addressable zone can have up-to 76-99 detectors with an
isolator module

after every 15 detectors. If any one detector or detectors in an

‘isolator sub zone’ malfunctions then the control panel displays the
‘isolator number’ and the rest of the zone remains unaffected.

The distribution system in a loop is ideal to maintain a constant

pressure so that pumps of heavier capacity can be avoided, this is
done with backward calculation with a mandatory water pressure of
‘3.5 kg’ which has to be always present in the topmost floor.

If the water system is not in the loop then due to the friction and
different elevation and breakages in between will result in a drop in
the pressure at the ‘lead in’ thus increasing the need for a more
powerful pump.
