Grade Level: Kindergarten
Standards:
1. PERFORMING MUSIC: Singing alone and with others.
2. RESPONDING TO MUSIC: Reading, notating, and interpreting music
3. RESPONDING TO MUSIC: Listening to, analyzing, and describing music.

Objectives:
1. Students will be able to recite and perform the lyrics to “End of the Day Song”
2. Students will be able to tap a steady beat to the song.
3. Students will be able to sing “End of the Day Song” in a soft, quiet tone.

Materials:
● None

Procedures:
Step 1: Teacher will play starting pitch.
Step 2: Teacher will sing “End of the Day Song” and the students will listen while tapping the
beat.
Step 3: Teacher will play starting pitch and have students hum the note.
Step 4: Introduce the song in small chunks with “call and response”.
Step 5: Sing lyrics together as a class.
Step 6: Ask students to sing without aide of teacher.
Step 7: Teacher will sing “End of the Day Song” in a piano dynamic and ask students if they
noticed a difference.
Step 8: Students will sing “End of the Day Song” in a dynamic that matches the teacher’s.

Assessments:
Informal Assessment: Walk around the room to check if students are tapping the appropriate
beat.
Informal Assessment: Check to see if students’ are doing actions as they sing (i.e., packing up
their backpacks, lining up at door, etc.).
