Educators, trainers, and researchers have been exploring factors that

contribute to effectively address performance of learners. Many factors can affect student's quality of
academic achievement may it be inside or outside the school premises. These factors may be termed as
student factors—family factors, school factors and peer factors (Crosnoe, Johnson & Elder, 2004).

Besides other factors, socio-economic status is one of the most researched and debated factors that
contribute towards the academic performance of students.
The most prevalent argument is that the socioeconomic status of
learners affects the quality of their academic performance. Most of the experts
argue that the low socioeconomic status has a negative effect on the academic
performance of students because the basic needs of students remain
unfulfilled and hence they do not perform better academically (Adams, 1996).

There are several factors affecting students’ learning performances. Usually the factors are home
related: family size, financial burden, work at home, parents’ attitude towards education and parental
style. The teachers’ qualities and capabilities also affect the performance of the students’ in their
studies. Parents play a very important role in the process. They should support and sustain the studies of
their children through financial stability. The geographical location of the school is another factor that
affects the students’ learning performance. The school setting must be accessible to the transportation
and public amenities that add comfort in a ways of life. The student’s effort and initiative is another
factor being considered as well as the age of the students. (Garcia, 2017)
