Journal 3

On my third week of TP as soon as Ms. Hamda saw me, she asked me to help her create new

students name cards but in English. Another fallout to changing the curriculum midway through

the year is not only excluding Science and Math in English but not including Phonics too. As a

result, students don’t have the ability to read their names in English, or even recognize it at the

very least. For the past three years that I’ve signed to come to Al Darari Kindergarten, the

students were able to do that compared to this year and I think that because they’re not enforcing

more reading and writing this year. On Sunday, the teachers held a Fruits day during the

morning assembly. Students wore costumes and participated in various games that included

them sorting the healthy and unhealthy food in each category. I sat with my MST and planned

for my Monday lesson. The next day, I read to the students the story “Titch” and used stuffed

toys to help them understand more about sizes (big and small).

On Tuesday, we helped the English teachers to design and prepare the auditorium for Animals

Day. My fellow student teachers and I each had a task assigned to them, my job was to make an

elephant mask in addition to spending the next day painting the students faces.
