UNC Chapel Hill

Pranav Sethi ACA 122 - 88

1. The priority deadline to apply for financial aid at UNC is March 1.

2. The academic requirements for the renewal of aid and scholarships at UNC is a minimum

GPA of 2.0, successful completion of atleast 2/3 of all credit hours attempted, and

completion of an undergraduate degree within 150% of the academic program.

3. If the aid package is not ready before payment for classes is due, you can defer your bill

until the UNC aid package is confirmed. Any balance fees not covered by the aid must be

paid.

4. There is an option to pay the entire sum in full within 6-9 months of graduation. Your

other option is to repay the costs with interest over a yearly or monthly plan discussed

with the financial advisor or aid agency.

5. Merit based scholarships are typically only available to first year undergraduate students.

Transfer students are usually considered sophomores because they usually have more

than 15 credit hours. If they have less, they are considered first years and a special review

process will take place to see if the student qualifies for a scholarship. Since I am a first

year student, I have applied to the Robertson Scholarship at UNC Chapel Hill. If I was to

receive this scholarship, I would have my entire tuition paid for, and money to participate

in study abroad or leadership programs.

6. I plan on taking a total of 10 courses through CPCC as a high school student. This will

save me a total of $3615.88 according to the tuition and fees for classes at UNC.

7. The yearly breakdown for my first choice transfer university, UNC Chapel Hill is

Tuition $8910
Room/board $11190

Books and supplies $948

Transportation/personal expenses $2632

Other/medical insurance $1500

Total $25180

8. As I am still in high school and will only be taking 10 courses, I plan on attending UNC

for the entire 4 years.

a. 4 x 25180 – 3615.88(tuition saved by taking courses through CPCC) =

$97,104.12

9. My total cost of undergraduate degree will be the same as above, $97,104.12 as I am not

paying for my courses through CPCC.

10. I am fortunate enough to live with parents who are willing to pay for my undergraduate

degree if I attend an in state school. Therefore, I, personally, will not be paying for

college. I do not anticipate receiving any merit scholarships and do not qualify for

financial aid, and therefore will be charged the entire amount to attend UNC. However, in

order to help my parents with the overall expense for my degree, I will be working as a

student, for approximately 20 hours per week. I should be able to contribute

approximately $6000 yearly towards my college tuition and fees.

11. I do not need to take any actions to meet my tuition costs at UNC apart from work 20

hours a week while a student. This is the number of hours my parents and I have deemed

reasonable in order to allow me time to attend classes and study/complete assignments.

My goal is earn enough to cover my personal expenses including transportation and

medical insurance, and perhaps even my books and supplies.
