Warm-up Aim: to cheer up the students and to prepare them for the lesson Procedure: The teacher enters the room, greets the students and the students greet the teacher. Teacher presents the action rhyme for the class and asks the students to follow her movements. The students try to repeat the action rhyme after the teacher and mime her movements. Reinforcing and checking the previous knowledge Aim: to check their previous knowledge about school objects Procedure: The teacher shows to the students school objects cards and asks them questions about the objects. Lead-in Aim: to introduce the topic/ to set the context Procedure: The teacher puts on the board four sheets of paper with four animals on them. The students are asked to connect the dots and find out which are the animals. One by one, the students come to the board and connect the dots. When they finish connecting all the dots, they will tell which are the animals on the sheets. The teacher tells to the students that they are going to learn today about Farm animals. Presentation Aim: to introduce the new vocabulary Procedure: The teacher will show to the students the flashcards with each animal, she will give the English term, the students will repeat it in chorus and individual. Aims: - to recognize and name the farm animals - to pronounce correctly the words Procedure: The teacher present to the students a game: the teacher pins the flashcards on the board. After that she asks the students to close their eyes. In that time the teacher takes one flashcard and hides it away. Then asks the students to open their eyes and answer the question: What’s missing?. Students answer to the question. Ss: “The dog.” Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T. Skills: listening, speaking Time: 10 min 6. Practice Aim: to practice the new vocabulary Procedure: The teacher presents a hand puppet called Doggie. Time: 7 min 7. Production (Listen and colour!) Aim: to consolidate the new acquired vocabulary Procedure: The teacher gives each pupil a handout with six animals on it. She explains them that they will have to listen to what colours she says and to colour the animals that way. The students listen and colour the animals. e.g. The cat is yellow. Skills: listening, speaking. Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T. Time: 8 min 8. Feedback (Let’s sing a song!) Aim: to improve Ss’ listening skills and singing competences Procedure: The teacher asks the students to watch a video with the song Old MacDonald.
