Senior Project Proposal

Name: Robert Huang

Group Members (if any)

1. Thomas Obando
2. Rudy Gaylord-Benigno
3. Jake Yoshida

What did you research in Writing for College? Will your Senior Project be on this topic? If not,
what will you need to learn to be successful?
I researched fire prevention in my writing for college class. My senior project will not be on fire
prevention. Instead of fire prevention my senior topic will be on puppy mills. Since one of my group
members has already done their research on this topic, he will inform the rest of the group as to what
everyone will need to know. Along with that, I plan to read his ten page research paper in order to get a
better understanding of our topic, and if I have any questions I will do some research on my own.

What student or students (up to three) will you partner with? If you propose working alone, why do
you think this is the only or the best way?
Thomas Obando, Rudy Gaylord-Benigno, Robert Huang and I will all partner up in order to
complete our senior project. Thomas Obando has excellent presentation skills; Rudy Gaylord-Benigno has
researched our topic for his writing for college class, so he is very well versed in this field. Robert Huang
is a hard working, intellectually advanced student who will provide a lot of help to our group. With the
help of Thomas, Rudy and Robert, I believe our project will be great.

What off-campus adults might you partner with to support your work? Where do these adults
work? How will they be able to help you? (Here, in a paragraph that touches on the details of
getting your project done, think about the practical elements of your Next Step. Explore possible
ways to network, utilize connections, and exploit learning opportunities. Provide contact
information, when relevant. Discuss how you'll collaborate.)
Some possible ways our group could network would be to email either the President and CEO of
the Hawaiian humane society, the Community Relations Team, the Development Team, or the Operations
and Field Services Team. If our group is able to acquire connections within the humane society then as a
group we could all volunteer there. Hopefully through our time volunteering at the Hawaiian humane
society we may learn more about our topic and what else is being done.

Within all of the contact information our group should be able to attain an off-campus mentor and
possibly even two interviewees.

What specific work will you do to complete at least 25 hours? Where will it be? What will you do
and what will your partners do one big shared task or smaller, separate tasks? Will you primarily
do community service, an internship, and/or a creative endeavor? Will you do one of the three or
combine two or three of the options? (In this final paragraph, describe, in depth, your Next Step.
Walk your mentor through the detailed steps you'll take. Break down the details of the project, and
reflect upon what you hope to gain/learn through your experience(s).
The specific work that our group will complete is volunteering. As a group we all plan to
volunteer at the Hawaiian Humane Society. Our group will do one big shared task together. As a group
we have all decided to primarily do community service/ volunteer. However, we are also willing to do an
internship or creative endeavor if the opportunity arises, but we will most likely stay with community
service. One person in our group will email a committee head at the Hawaiian Humane Society, hopefully
we are able to volunteer, through volunteering we will attain our 25 hours and as a group we will all work
on the presentation. I hope to gain some real world experience, and to learn a little bit more about our
topic.
