Title: CNC MILLING (NON-TRADITIONAL MACHINING)

2.0 OBJECTIVES

1. Develop a skill and improve understanding related to principle of CNC machine.

2. Creates and designs basic NC program for CNC Milling.

3. Learn to machine and fabricate a work piece with CNC Milling machine.

4. To understand the advantages and disadvantages of CNC machines and their applications.

5. To learn how to produce a product through the process in CNC Milling machine

2.0 APPARATUS

APPARATUS DESCRIPTION
 Wooden block is used as a specimen
for this experiment.

 Is used for cleaning the specimen


block after cutting process.

 Tape is used to stick the specimen in


the CNC Milling machine.

 It is used to finishing the specimen to
make the specimen look good.

3.0 EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE

1.0 The specimen wooden block was prepared before experiment started.

2.0 Desired shape is drawn using CATIA software as stl and open by MODELA Player 4.

3.0 The data is transfer to NC program for the machine to work.


4.0 Suitable cutting tools was chosen before the cutting process started.
5.0 The wooden block specimen was place inside the machine and stick it using double sided
tape to ensure the block did not moving.

6.0 The wooden block is placed and positioned directly under the spindle datum and X-axis is
set.

7.0 The start button is pressed, and the milling process started.

8.0 When the milling process is done, the specimen is taken out to check the result for the
experiment.
