Main Pattern
Work single crochet [sc] back and forth in rows,
beg each row with ch 2 (count as first sc) for
Main patt.

Increase 1 stitch: Work 2 sc in 1 sc.

Reverse sc (Crab st): Work sc from left to

right.

INSTRUCTIONS
Front
With A, ch 52 + ch 2. Beg Main patt, working
first sc on first row in 3rd ch from hook [52 sc
per row]. Cont in patt and when piece meas 7"
[18 cm] from beg, change to B. Cont in patt until
piece meas 12¼" [31 cm] from beg. Cut yarn
and fasten off.

Back
Work same as for Front.

Bottom/Sides
With B, ch 22 + ch 2. Beg Main patt, working

GAUGE Rows 2–4: Cont in patt as established [total
14 sc x 18 rows = 4" x 4" [10 x 10 cm] of 4 rows worked]. Cut yarn and fasten off.
Fold strap in half lengthwise and sew the long
ABBREVIATIONS edges tog to form a tube. Sew short edges of

Rows 2–4: Work 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in each sc
across to last sc; work 2 sc in last sc [10 sc after
completing Row 4]. Cont even in sc until piece
meas 3½" [9 cm] from beg.
Rows 5–7: Cont in Main patt, while at the
same time, dec 1 sc [use sc2tog] at beg and end
of each row [4 sc rem after completing Row 7].
Work 1 rnd sc and 1 rnd Rev sc around all flap
edges.
Assembly
With A and sc, join Bag Bottom/Sides piece to
Bag Front and Back. Place short edge of piece
beg and end approx. 2¼" [6 cm] down from top
edge of Bag Front and Back (use photo as a
guide).
Side Pockets [make 2]
With RS facing, join A to short edge of Bag
Bottom. Work 22 sc in rows until piece meas
7" [18 cm]. Cut yarn and fasten off. With A,
work 1 rnd Rev sc around all Side Pocket edges,
while at the same time, joining the long edge
of the Side Pocket to the Front / Back seams.
Repeat for opposite side of the Bag.

Install Straps
Fold two tabs in half and with RS facing, stitch
the lower half of each tab to the inside of Bag
Back, approx. 2¼" [6 cm] in from each side edge
and approx. 1¼" [3 cm] down from the top edge
(use photo as a guide). Repeat the last step with
remaining two tabs for the Bag Front. Place a
single strand of one Strap loop inside a Bag
Front tab. Place a single strand of the same
Strap loop (being careful not to twist the Strap
loop) inside the opposite tab on the Bag Back.
Stitch the upper half of each tab to the outside
of the Bag Back and Bag Front, capturing the
Strap loop inside the tab; be careful not to
sew into the Strap loop. Repeat this step with
remaining two tabs.
Wrap a Handle piece around both Straps on
the left side of the Bag (use photo as a guide).
Stitch the Handle piece together, being careful
not to sew into the Strap loop. Wrap remaining
Handle piece around both straps on the right
side of the Bag and stitch the Handle piece
together.
Weave in all ends.
