challenged man with the intelligence of a 6-year-old, which is
actually the age of his own daughter Ye-sung (So-won Gar) who
is much smarter than her peers. They are enjoying a happy life
while Yong-gu works in a parking lot at a supermarket. However,

because he is not able to speak well. Fortunately, the people who
are in the jail helped out Yong-Gu so that he can win the case in a

commissioner calls him, then beats him up and says if you are
found innocent , your daughter will die. After that Yong-Gu lies
that he killed the police commissioner’s daughter. Eventually, he
is sentenced to death. They tried to fly out, but the hot air-
balloon’s rope got hanged to the jail’s barbed-wire fence. Finally,
the day was December 23th, which is Yong-Gu’s electrocution
and her daughter Yesung's birthday. Ye-sung wants
congraturation from her father, so Jin-Young helps to see his
father before he gets electrocution. The room 7 people group up
and wish happy birthday to Ye-sung. But soon, the executor calls
Yong-Gu. Yong-Gu and Ye-sung started to cry and hugged each
other. Unfortunately, Yong-Gu was falsely accused and left to
heaven. Jin-Young(head of prison) adopted Yong-Gu’s daughter

her father of false accusation. She became a judicial apprentice
and re imprim for his father. Finally, she got a sentence of
innocence. After that, when she walked out, she saw a balloon
that hanged to fense and cast back.
PLOT: A father (Ryoo Seung-Ryong), who is mentally
handicapped, but loves his daughter very much, is falsely
accused of a crime and sent to prison. Later, his daughter Ye-
Seung (Park Shin-Hye, who is a law school student, works to
prove his innocence.
Back in 1997, Yong-Goo lives happily with his daughter Ye-Seung
(Kal So-Won), even though he has the intelligence of a child.
They stop by a shop everyday to look at a yellow Sailor Moon
backpack that he hopes to buy his daughter.
The following day, the girl who bought the yellow Sailor Moon
backpack sees Yong-Goo working in the grocery store parking lot.
She tells him that she knows another store that sells the same
yellow backback. Yong-Goo follows the girl to a traditional outdoor
market. A short while later, the girl is laying on the ground
unconscious and Yong-Goo is trying to perform CPR. A woman
walks by and calls the police.
Yong-Goo is accused of kidnap and murder. The father of the
dead girl is also the chief of the National Police Agency. Yong-
Goo is given the death penalty and incarcerated. In prison, Yong-
Goo shares a jail cell with five other inmates. One day, Yong-Goo
saves the life of his cellmate So Yang-Ho (Oh Dal-Su) from a rival
prison gang leader. So Yang-Ho then offers to help Yong-Goo in
any way he can to return the favor. Yong-Goo tells So Yang-Ho
that he wants to see his daughter Ye-Seung.

REACTION: A true heartfelt comedy. We see a connection

between a mentally ill father and his lovingly adorable daughter. A
really close one. Although mentally unfit, the emotion and love of
the father is undeniable. And then you have a smart and
understanding daughter, who loves his father so much and
doesn't see her father differently. Behind that, there is a tragically
engaging story -- The kind-hearted father, as innocent as he is,
accused of murder and rape.
CONCLUSION/GENERALIZATION: This is definitely one of the
best Korean movies. Filled with tears and laughters. Yes, you
have to prepare some tissues as it gets very teary- eyed towards
the end.. and not just once. A fun to watch film from beginning to
the end and a compelling drama at the same time, easily grips the
hearts of the audience. Very well thought of and extremely well
executed. A true gem.
REFLECTION; Miracle in Cell No. 7 is a heartwarming Korean film
that is about a mentally-ill father and his loving daughter. We can
learn lessons from this movie that will surely touch our hearts.
After watching this, we will be able to realize that we must
treasure our loved ones all the time and love from our family can
help us to endure rough situations.

SUGGESTION/RECOMMENDATION: Films shows the

importance of having family and friends support during such time.
It also shows the stupidity of korean legal system and all crimes in
that domain should be punished most severely.
