New Administrative Assistant!

Writing to you is Emily Gitlin, I’m the new

Administrative Assistant to the Teaching
Fellows program.
I moved to NYC a couple of years ago and
currently live in Brooklyn with a bunny
named Maruchan, after the cheap ramen
noodles.
I think that what you’re all doing as
Teaching Fellows is absolutely amazing and
generous, so I want to support you in any
way that I can!
I’m your new first point of contact, all
your questions, comments, and concerns
will go from me to the correct person for
a quicker resolution!

Here is all my
contact info,
please reach
out to me
about
anything,
even just to
drop by so I
can meet you!

Spring Semester
Reminder!
You should be
registered for
Spring semester!
If you have not
already, please
register ASAP!

Fall Note
With the school year fully under way and
feeling less shiny and new, the weather getting
colder, the sun being out for less of the day, it’s
very common to feel stressed and maybe a little
down. Professor Walsh and I are always open
to listening to any concerns (see my office
hours listed above!)
I have also listed the info for Psych Services
below. If the hours don’t work with your
teaching schedule and you feel you’d benefit
from talking with a counselor, reach out to me
and we’ll look at some other options.

Feelings ebb and flow through

the seasons, so don’t panic!

In addition to Professor Walsh and myself, your

Field Consultants are here to help you succeed
and should be visiting you soon.
Field Consultants are greatly knowledgeable of
the NYC schools and are former teachers,
special-ed coaches, and administrators.
Four times per semester they will be visiting you,
this is a great opportunity to ask questions of
someone with experience.
They will be debriefing your lesson using the
Danielson Rubric. (Psst… That rubric can be
found here!)

LIU Teaching Fellow’s Website!

Do you know about the LIU-Brooklyn

Teaching Fellows website?
http://liufellows.weebly.com/
The FAQ has immediate answers to just
about any question, and the Program page
has information specific to your cohort as
well as EdTPA related documents!

We would like to get a better idea of

what Fellows need from the courses
here at LIU as well as from us here in
the office. We have posted a quick
three question survey and would
really appreciate your feedback:
Click and look to the right!

As a follow up to the above

survey, I’d like to hold a
discussion group about what we
can do to serve you better in the
Fellow’s program. We are look-
ing for volunteers to share their
ideas in making the LIU Fellows
program the best in NYC. Want
to have a voice in this? Please
email Emily.gitlin@liu.edu.
We will need 2 hours of your
time.
