BEFORE YOU BEGIN

2 Before You Begin

Your first step is to determine if you are performing a full install or if you are finishing an
installation that was begun at the factory with a Factory Fitted Kit.

„ If you are performing a full install, begin with the next section, Assemble the Installation
Hardware and Software.
„ If you are finishing an installation that was begun at the factory, begin with the System
Setup section on page 12 of this document. Factory installs are indicated by a cover sheet
that is taped over the CD ROM drive. This cover sheet lists the name and release number
of the software loaded and the communications protocol.
„ If you are re-installing software that was originally loaded with a Factory Fitted Kit (FFK
69xx), determine if you need to change the answers to the installation questions that were
added to the APTRA XFS and XP CD Installation Boot Diskette. If you want to change the
answers, do the following to clear the factory install answers and reinstall.
„ Put the boot diskette that came with the ATM from the factory into the flex drive.
„ Manually run A:\PrepFlex.bat.
„ Press 1 (for Yes) at the “Do you want to clear the factory settings?” prompt. DO NOT
press ENTER.
„ Go to the next section, Assemble the Installation Hardware and Software, and
continue with the full installation.

2.1 Assemble the Installation Hardware and Software

Before you start performing a full NCR Americas APTRA Advance NDC software installation,
you must verify that you have the following hardware and software.

2.1.1 Hardware

Verify that you have the following hardware and/or perform the following hardware related
activities.

1. An XP-capable NCR ATM with the following minimum configuration:

„ Processor: 566 MHz Celeron
„ RAM: 256 MB
„ Hard Disk: 10 GB
„ CD ROM Drive
„ Flex Disk Drive: 1.44 MB
„ Front Display: (VGA 640x480, 256 color) (SVGA 800x600 recommended)
NOTE: For non-customized installs, the 640x480 resolution with 256 colors is
available, but the standard resolution is 800x600.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

2. Identify Motherboard:
„ Pele II
„ Phantom
„ Pivat
3. Verify/Upgrade Motherboard BIOS level. Must be:
„ Pele II - Ver. 1.08 or greater
„ Phantom - Ver. 16.86 or greater
„ Pivat – Ver. 2.01 or greater
If you do not have the flash disks, proceed as follows:

„ NCR CEs can copy the updates from the wcsnet page at
http://www.wcsnet.ncr.com/level3.asp?navIDVar=&IndexID=5617&ResultType=2&on
Node=
„ Authorized Service Partners can copy the updates from their NCR portal.
„ Value-Added Resellers should contact NCR.

NOTE: Depending upon the financial institution, the ROM BIOS may be password
protected. You will need to consult with a member of the financial institution if this is the
case.

4. Determine the type of monitor on the ATM (possible model types are listed):
„ Touch - 5874, 5877, 5886, 5887, 5675
„ Exterior Touch - 5886, 5887, 5890, 6676
„ FDK
„ 7.7” – EasyPoint 57
„ 8-10” – 5888, 5670, 5870, 5684, 5884, 5685, 5885, 5688, 5890
„ 12” – 5674, 5675 (also comes as 13-15”), 5886, 5887, 5890, 6676
„ 13-15” – 5675 (also comes as 12“), 5875, 5877, 6676

5. Enable/Disable the Onboard Video Chip, if necessary, as follows:

„ If the ATM has a HELGA board, or other plug-in video card for the digital LCD panel
(using rectangular connector), the onboard video must be disabled.
„ If the ATM does not have a plug-in video card, the onboard video must be enabled.
The onboard video is enabled/disabled both in the BIOS and via the J5 jumper on the
Phantom processor board.

NOTE: If you do not enable/disable the onboard video chip, SysApp will not display on the
front monitor.

NOTE: If the ATM was upgraded from the Phantom to the Pele II processor, the HELGA
board should be removed (assuming the Pele II does not use it).

NCR Confidential 3
NCR AMERICAS APTRA ADVANCE NDC 3.00.10 CE BRING LIVE GUIDE – DISK IMAGE

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

6. Enable/Disable the Onboard Network Interface if the ATM will run TCP/IP
communications, and only if necessary, as follows:
„ If the ATM has a separate PCI Ethernet card installed and you want to keep using that
card with Americas APTRA Advance NDC, then the onboard network interface must
be disabled. If you want to use the onboard network interface, the PCI Ethernet card
must be removed and the onboard network interface must be enabled.
„ If the ATM does not have a separate Ethernet card, then the onboard network
interface can be used for TCP/IP communications, and the onboard network interface
must be enabled.
The onboard network interface is enabled/disabled both in BIOS and via a switch pack on
the Pele II processor board.

„ In BIOS, go to the 'Advanced' tab, select 'PCI Configuration', and enable or

disable the 'Network Controller' option as required.
„ Make sure that Switch Pack 1, switch number 1 is enabled or disabled as
required.
7. If the ATM will run Leased Line communications:
„ If you have a Pele II core with a 3COM Ethernet card installed, you need to remove
the card.
„ If you have a Pivat core, you need to disable the on-board Ethernet.
NOTE: Leaving the card in or leaving it enabled may prevent you from getting DTR.

8. If you have the Enhanced Audio Jack installed, and you need to have public audio
enabled, you must switch jumper J7 on the Enhanced Audio Amplifier PCB board from
0 (links pins 1 and 2, factory setting) to 1 (links pins 2 and 3). Otherwise, the audio will
not be heard through the ATM speaker.
9. PC Keyboard (101 Key Keyboard)
NOTE: Because of the location of the PC keyboard connection, you usually view the
installation information on the front panel for front-loading ATMs and on the rear panel for
rear-loading ATMs.
10. Mouse (handy, but not required)
11. SVGA Monitor (handy, but not required - so you don't have to turn the ATM monitor)

2.1.2 Software

Both required and optional software

For installation in Canada, you must run the PREPFLEX utility to ensure a clean start. A clean
start will force the installation questions to be displayed on the CRT.

The above steps are expanded as follows:

4. Insert the Americas APTRA XFS and XP CD Installation Boot diskette into the 3.5 in. flex
drive.
Insert the Americas APTRA XFS and XP CD #1 into the CD-ROM.

5. Turn on the ABM.

5a. In 45 seconds, the front CRT displays “Starting MS-DOS...”.

5b. In another 35 seconds, the CD-ROM device driver should have been installed.
Once the bottom of CRT displays “Driver was installed successfully”, the
screen turns blank.

5c. Press Control-C on the PC keyboard.

Top of the CRT displays a question: “Terminate batch job (Y/N)?”
(If the question is not displayed, press Control-C again;
or, you must reset the ABM to start over.)

5d. Type “Y” for YES.

CRT displays “A:\>”.

5e. Type “PREPFLEX” and press ENTER.

There are two possibilities:

5e.1 If the Boot Diskette is from the factory and has never been used on the ABM,
the CRT displays:
******Factory Install Detected. *****
Do you want to clear the factory
default values on this boot diskette?
(Select “YES” if you want to re-answer the installation
questions)
1. YES
2. NO
0. Exit

Type “1” for YES.

installation continues at step 5f.

5e.2 If the Boot Diskette is not from the factory, installation continues at step 5f.

5f. CRT displays “A:>”.

5g. Reset the ABM.

5h. The CRT displays:

You normally declare a selection by pressing a numeric key. There are two groups of numeric
keys on the PC Keyboard. One group is on the left hand side which is the alphanumeric
cluster. The numeric keys are always active. The other group is on the right hand side which
is the numeric/control cluster. Numeric keys on the numeric/control cluster are not active
unless Num Lock is turned on. To avoid mistakes, it is recommended that the alphanumeric
cluster be used.

If an incorrect UNIUQE ID was declared, start over skipping PREPFLEX.

For AA NDC 2.05.05, the CRT displays:

Select "2” for Standard (ENTER Key Third Key Down).

For AA NDC 2.06 and later, the CRT displays:

Select "3” for Alternate (CANCEL Key at Top Right).

Subsequent to FAT-NTFS conversion, XP Setup starts. XP Setup takes about 30 minutes to

complete. If you notice a fuzzy display on the CRT or if you find the screen is not readable,
you must start over skipping PREPFLEX. Declare “640” as the UNIQUE ID. This Unique ID
will force a display resolution of 640x480 rather than the default, higher 800x600. Some
monitors cannot handle 800x600.

For all installs with the exception of CCS and HSBC, you should select “2” for NO.

For CCS running AA NDC 2.05.05, select “1” for YES. Insert the ”CCS Custom Diskette
1/2 050322 for AA NDC 2.05.05” and follow the screen prompts. During this time,
declare the Computer Name when prompted. When done, you will be prompted again for the
Software Update Package. Select “2” for NO.

For HSBC running AA NDC 2.06.15, select “1” for YES. Insert the ”HSBC Custom CD for
AA NDC Rel 2.06.15 Vol 01/01 Rel 1.0.0 Jan 19, 2006 “. When done, you
will be prompted again for the Software Update Package. Select “2” for NO.

*****************************************************************************************

For CCS running AA NDC 2.05.05, you must declare the Machine # assigned by CCS. This is
a unique number. The Parameter Sheet provided by the switch provider is a constant,
normally “000001”.

Customers in Canada use two different sets of Advanced Parameters:

common set: MSG FORMAT=3,LEN SIZE=2,LEN FORMAT=1,LEN ADJUST=2,LEN

OFFSET=0
not as common: MSG FORMAT=3,LEN SIZE=4,LEN FORMAT=2,LEN ADJUST=4,LEN
OFFSET=0

RX HDR BYTES is a parameter available only on AA NDC 2.05.05. It is to be set the same as
LEN SIZE.

LEN EMBED is a parameter available only on AA NDC 2.06 and later. It is set to 0 by default
and it should remain so.

AA NDC defaults to the 'common set'. The common set is employed by all but one switch
providers. These values are normally not spelled out in the Parameter Sheet. Currently only
OpenSolutions of Vancouver employs the 'not as common' set. OpenSolutions list these
parameters in their Parameter Sheet. If you are converting an ABM from one switch provider
to another, ensure that the Advanced Parameters are correct.

Additional notes related to TCP/IP:

„ For Pele II to support TCP/IP using on board Ethernet - set Dip switch 1 to ON or enable it
through the BIOS setting: Advanced/PCI Configuration/Network controller.
If a 3COM ISA card is present, it must be removed as XP does not support it. A 3COM
ISA card has 3 connectors.

If a 3COM PCI card is present, make sure the on board Ethernet is disabled. Set DIP
Switch 1 to off AND disable Network Controller through the BIOS. Make sure that
the LAN cable is plugged into the card, not to the on board RJ45 connector.

„ For PIVAT to support TCP/IP, enable onboard Ethernet through the BIOS setting:
Integrated Peripherals/On-Chip LAN control.
„ Depending upon the type of local connectivity, you may need a straight-through LAN
cable, or you may need a crossed cable. The right cable type must be plugged onto the
correct RJ45 connector of the card cage when you configure the TCP/IP parameters.
„ If you need to change one of these parameters: Local Address, Subnet Mask and
Gateway Address, be sure to declare all these 3 items at the same time.

„ IP address data entry:

for AA NDC 2.05.05, declare the full 12 digits and then press [ENTER]. For example:
010103007212[ENTER].

for AA NDC 2.06.12 and later, press [ENTER] after each 3-digit entry with or without
leading zero. For example 010[ENTER], 103[ENTER], 7[ENTER], 212[ENTER].

„ Special workaround for AA NDC 2.05.05

Supervisory function "37 TCP/IP Configuration" does two things among other tasks:
1. registers TCP/IP info into the TCP/IP properties
2. updates file SESSION.INI

This function may have an issue handling an IP address that has a value of 000 or 255. In
this case, Function 37 will fail with an error message "INVALID VALUE". With this
problem, the host connection cannot be established. To solve the problem, TCP/IP
Configuration has to be carried out in administrator mode on the ABM.

Task 1 above will have to be performed on the TCP/IP Properties via the Windows
Control Panel.
Task 2 above will have to be performed on the file C:\SSDS\DLL\SESSION.INI via
manual editing.

This workaround does not address Task 1 as there is currently no alternative method. It
however, makes Task 2 a more convenient, less risky process.

This workaround is provided as a ZIP file so that it can be emailed. The title of the ZIP file
is "TCPIPWorkAround-AaNdc020505-060510.ZIP". The instructions are in the
ReadME.TXT file. Please obtain the ZIP file from Level 2, or pull if off from the WCS web
site.

„ With AA NDC 2.06.12, the Remote Address will show leading zero even though a leading
zero was not entered, e.g. 153.071.121.217. This cosmetic issue is not seen in the other
addresses.

„ After the TCP/IP parameters are declared, do “10 PRINT CONFIG”. After the ABM is
rebooted, please also do “10 PRINT CONFIG” to see that the print out contains the same
information as the first copy. The first copy confirms data entry. The second copy reflects
the parameters in effect. Go over the notes about TCP/IP, make any necessary
corrections, and redo the parameter configuration as required.

„ The switch provider's Parameter Sheet may use terminology different from ours, please
note that
"ATM's IP Address" is LCL ADDRESS,
"ATM's Subnet Mask" is SUBNET MASK
"Router IP Address" is GATEWAY ADDR
"Host IP Address" is RMT ADDRESS,
"Host Port Number" is RM PORT NO
"Local Port Number " is LCL PORT NO

1. Read error during or after CD to HD copy:

„ make sure memory chips are of the right type, re-install software.
„ re-install software from scratch, using a proven copy.
2. At the end of the installation, instead of putting up the SELECT menu, the ABM would
keep resetting:
„ go into BIOS (Pele II), set default, save settings, reboot.
„ make sure SDC connection is in place, reboot.
„ initialize EPP using EPP Service Utility (G531-1015-000), reboot, in SysApp select
appropriate Country Version as required (DAPI1 or DAPI7). Today, most ABMs use
DAPI1. For further details, please refer to section 8.1 of the AA NDC 3.00.10 Release

@tmEASE-based software solutions are NOT supported.

Known issue: This utility does not display correctly on an ABM with a monochrome monitor.
The password prompt described in step 5 below does not show up. To work around the
problem, an external colour monitor should be used in place of the monochrome monitor.
Remove the external monitor when the whole procedure has completed successfully.

F.2 Overview

This Utility resides on a single diskette. It enables the secure installation of security (or master)
keys from the front of the ABM directly into the EPP. Installation is to be carried out using the
cardholder display and the EPP.

Installing the security key is a task initiated by the switch provider who may want to:

„ Install an initial security (or master) key, or

„ Change/refresh the security key, or
„ Change Key Entry Mode from 1DES to 3DES

When the switch provider schedules a task, the following should be defined ahead of time:

„ date of installation
„ location of ABM
„ ABM software version
„ ABM is confirmed to have an EPP
„ key parts distributed to authorized key holder(s)
„ involved parties notified: key holder(s), Utility disk holder, key installer(s), network operator
„ current and new Key Entry Mode

The personnel (generally two or more) attending the site determine among themselves who
will do what. Step by step instructions are given in the subsequent pages. These instructions
indicate that certain steps can be carried out at the rear for a rear load ABM. In summary, the
following will take place at the site:

„ verify current Key Entry Mode

„ switch to new Key Entry Mode, if required
„ boot up Utility disk
„ enter key part 1, verify KVV (person #1)
„ enter key part 2, verify KVV (person #2)
„ remove Utility disk
„ boot up ABM, verify KVV
„ notify network operator of completion, ready for download
„ see that a test transaction will go through
