UNIT/CHAPTER OBJECTIVE/GENERALIZATION/BIG IDEA:


The forms of protest used by Americans to change British policies is part of the Unit on The
War for Independence (1760-1789). Students explain the causes, course, and consequences
of the American Revolution and the foundations of the future state of Tennessee

Lesson Objective
Content Learning Goals and Objectives
1. Student will be able to understand the forms of protest used to change British policies including
the Boston Tea Party, tarring and feathering, letter writing, and boycotts.
1. Students will access their assignments using Web2.0 applications.
2. Given a computer and word processing software, students will be able to research and write 3-
5 sentences defining tarring and feathering, letter writing, and boycotts as forms of protest.
3. Students will read about the Boston Tea Party and the aftermath and learn 6 vocabulary
words.
4. Students will answer 5 multiple choice questions on their reading assignment.
5. Students will use a web bases application to create a comic strip that depicts a scene at the
Boston Tea Party.

Student Participation
The goal of this lesson is for students to demonstrate a clear understanding of form of protest b early
Americans against British taxes and oppression. To be able to use internet resources to research
topics and to create a comic strip depicting the Boston Tea Party.

Technology Integration

Students will use the internet for resources for researching topic, log on to the ReadMe Classroom, and to
create comic strip. Word processing software will be used to type, their definitions and to type their link to
their comic strip. Students, upon completing the activity, will save their work to a shared Dropbox folder for
their class.

Background and Rationale

● Students will demonstrate a clear understanding the reasons the Boston Tea Party
took place.
● Students will demonstrate the ability to use multiple Web 2 applications.
● This lesson is a continuation of TN social studies standard 5.0.
● I am aware that the lesson will be differentiated for students who did not master the
objectives and for those ready for enrichment. However, modifications are not
covered in this course and are not part of this particular lesson.

Procedures and Timeline

Introduction

 Begin by having the projector ready a presenting the following YouTube video:

 For the next two clss periods students we will be working on our project.
Procedures
