PART – A (5 X 3 = 15 MARKS)

1. What is station point?

ANS: This is the chosen point from which the object is to be viewed. It is also known by other names, such as the ‘observer’,
‘viewing point’ or ‘eye position’.

2. What is centre line of vision?

ANS: The centre line of vision, or, as it is sometimes known, the ‘direct line of vision’ or the ‘direct line of sight’ in perspective
drawing is a line from the station point to the centre of interest of the object – in other words, the points on which the eye is
fixed.

3. What is cone of vision?

ANS: The field of vision is known to be more than 180* but it is not possible to see clearly over this whole range. The normal
maximum range within which it is possible to see clearly and easily is accepted as being a cone of less than 90* and is seldom
if ever shown as more than 60*. For the purpose of perspective drawing it is usually limited to 60* or less.

4. What is picture plane?

ANS: This is an imaginary vertical plane on which the perspective drawing is supposed to be done. The perspective drawing is
in fact the plotting of the positions where the visual rays from the eye (station point) through the points of the object intersect
the picture plane. Imagine a fixe eye position looking through a sheet of glass (e.g. a window) it would be possible to trace the
shape of the object on the glass exactly as it is seen. This principle remains true whether the picture plane is placed in front of
or behind the object.

5. What is a vanishing point?

ANS: Any two or more parallel lines will, if extended indefinitely, appear to converge and meet at a point. This point is known
as the vanishing point. Regardless of direction, each set of parallel lines will converge towards its own vanishing point.

PART – B (15 + 20 = 35 MARKS)

1. Draw a 5cm Cube which one side of a cube touching the Picture Plane, and the Observer 22cm away from the Picture
Plane, Eye level 10cm above the ground level. 15 MARKS

2. Draw a (5cm) Square pyramid at 45*in plan, and the Observer 22cm away from the Picture Plane, Eye level 10cm
above the ground level. 20 MARKS
