FORUM SESI 2 – TRI WINARSIH

Salah satu materi yang telah Saudara pelajari dalam Sesi 2 ini adalah
tentang konsepcommunicative purpose of texts. Berdasarkan pemahaman
dan pengalaman yang Saudara peroleh terkait communicative purpose of
texts, menurut pendapat saudara maanfaat apa yang dapat diperoleh
berkenaan dengan konsep communicative purpose of texts selama
proses pembelajaran?
Petunjuk pemberian jawaban dan tanggapan dalam forum:
1. Saudara hanya diberikan satu kali kesempatan untuk menjawab
pertanyaan
2. Uraikan jawaban Saudara berkisar antara 100-150 kata.
3. Berikan masukan kepada 3 peserta yang lain.
4. Masukan yang diberikan diharapkan berdasarkan pengalaman yang
Saudara peroleh agar terjadi proses diskusi, diharapkan peserta
menanggapi masukan yang telah diterima

Communicative Purpose of text or social function of the text is the


objective that the writer wants to be reached by writing the text. When
the author wants to deliver the message it is a must for him to have
communicative purpose clearly. Before he writes he needs to ask why
he writes. If the purpose is to retell his private experience he must
consider what kind of text that is usually used by native speaker to tell
about this. So he decides that he will write recount text as native
speaker does. Then he will think not only about pronoun as a subject of
the sentence, past form as a finite and everything related to language
feature of recount text but also generic structure of the text.
In our curriculum there are many texts that generally learned by Native
Speaker. It will be impossible for the learners to write many texts with
communicative purpose of the text clearly except they are given learning
experience about genre or text type.
The teacher needs to understand about communicative purpose of the
text since the learning materials (text) for example as material in reading
comprehension must have communicative purpose of the text clearly,
the accepted generic structure and an interesting idea that can be
understood by the learners.
If the teacher has taught the learners many kinds of text as the native
speaker learns they can develop and have sensitivity to any type of text
that they want to create.

When the teacher asks the students to give instruction, warning and
prohibition, the experienced students will think about notice. If they are
asked to give information they will think about announcement.

The above explanations give descriptions that to build sensitivity to any


type of text to our students the teacher must know clearly what the
purpose of the text is. It’s closely related to language feature and
generic structure of the text.
