Intended Use
The CL-P pre---cleaner is designed exclusively for
pre---cleaning cotton fibres and synthetic fibres.
Use in any other way does not constitute proper,
intended use. Never use the CL-P pre---cleaner for
any other purposes.
Safety Measures
Safety of Persons
The personnel employed for operation and main-
tenance must be qualified for their work or must
have been instructed by qualified persons.
Qualified persons are those with sufficient know-
ledge of the machine as a result of their technical
training and experience. These persons are suffi-
ciently familiar with the relevant local and national
work safety and accident prevention regulations
to be able to assess the safe working condition of
the machine.
– Observe the working instructions for your
place of work.
– Observe the relevant accident prevention re-
gulations.
– Observe the safety precautions contained in
this operating and service manual.
Maintenance work
As owner of the machine, ensure that only quali-
fied personnel are employed to carry out mainte-
nance work on the machine.
Install and activate all protective and safety- in-
stallations correctly after all maintenance work.
Work on the machine going beyond the opera-
tions described in the chapter Maintenance may
only be carried out by Trützschler after---sales ser-
vice personnel or by persons authorised by Trütz-
schler.
Start all set---up- and maintenance operations
only when the machine has been disconnected
from the power supply and has come to a stand-
still. Secure the master switch in the OFF position
by means of a padlock and a warning sign or by
other suitable means to prevent unauthorised

Control unit
The CL-P pre---cleaner control unit is made up of
the following components:
Control cabinet
The control cabinet is situated on the back, right
hand side of the CL-P pre---cleaner machine.
The ”equipment” (3) mounting plate can be found
in the control cabinet. 3
General
The CL-P pre---cleaner has its own control unit
and is put into operation by the following opera-
ting elements:
– Master switch
– Service-key switch
– General operating unit ABE2C
Master switch
The machine master switch (1) is situated on the
front of the control cabinet.
The master switch (1) is used to switch the opera-
ting voltage on- and off.

shown on the display (6). Texts are shown on 2
lines of 20 characters each.
The order of operation is specified in the display.
Any faults are shown in message form (see chap-
ter 5, Faults).
The brightness of the display can be individually 6
adjusted:
Brighter:
– Press and hold ”CE” key in the lower key
pad.
– Press the ”0” key in the lower key pad repea-
tedly until the desired brightness has been
achieved, then release both keys.

Note
General
You enter and then save the following data in the
machine control unit (for instance for initial start---
up):
– Language,
– Numeric help,
– Date and time,
– Rotary speed limits,
– Network connection,
– Network address.
Language
Select the language of display-texts from the follo-
wing list:
– German,
– English,
– French,
– Spanish,
– Portuguese
– Italian,
– Dutch or
– Turkish.
You can change the language at any time using
P-function 90 (see page 58).
Numeric help
Not all languages are available in the machine
control unit. However, in order to help the user,
numbers (1) are allocated to the information texts
and fault messages. Language specific lists can PROGRAM
be drawn up using these numbers to reproduce to be switched on _21
the content of the texts for the user in his own lan-
guage.
When you activate numeric help, the numbers (1)
are shown in the display, in the second line, on
the right hand edge. All information texts and fault 1
messages, with the respective numbers, are listed
in the chapter ”Faults”.
Numeric help can be switched on- or off at any
time using P-function 80 [see page 58].
Default display
When starting the machine, in operation or on
completion of a working process, the default dis- 4 5
play appears in the display:
– Rotary speed of roll 1 in revolutions per mi-
nute (4). 1=###rpm 2=###rpm

suction pipe (6):
Network connection
The data exchange between the machine control
unit and the primary plant control unit is conduc-
ted over the Trützschler communication network.
Network address
Each machine is given its own network address
(TKN-address) within the Trützschler communica-
tion-network TK-N2. A TKN-address can only be
issued if a connection to the Trützschler commu-
nication-network TKN-2 has been established.
The TKN-address can be changed at any time
using P-function 87 (see page 60).

Settings
Setting the grids
The settings for the grids are determined by the 1
properties of the material to be fed and must be
ascertained by trial and error.
The grids are fully adjustable on a dial (3) from 0

4 = Grid is fully open
Use a mid---range dial setting of 2 to 3 as far as
possible.
Set the grid as follows:

Maintenance
Safety Instructions
All this work is necessary to ensure fault free ope-
ration over a long period of time. They also make
sure the machine operates reliably and has a long
service life.
DANGER
Danger of fatal injury from active ma-
chine parts.
Attempting to eliminate faults whilst
the machine is running can lead to the
injury or the death of personnel and
cause damage to the machine.
Only carry out all maintenance- -and
lubrication work when the machine is
secured at a standstill.
DANGER
Risk of death due to insufficient safety
measures.
If safety- and protective devices are
not installed, there is a risk of injury or
death to maintenance personnel and
damage to the machine.
Install all protective and safety- devi-
ces again after carrying out mainte-
nance- -and lubrication work.
Caution
Attempts to carry out maintenance
work with insufficiently qualified per-
sonnel may cause damage to the ma-
chine.
Never attempt to carry out mainte-
nance work if you do not have the ne-
cessary experience.
Make sure that only authorised spe-
cialist personnel are allowed to carry
out maintenance work, using Trütz-
schler original- spare parts.
DANGER
Danger of injury --- slippery floor!
Remove any oil and lubricating grease
which drops on the floor.
Collect used oil in an environmentally
friendly manner.
Remove excess oil and lubricating
grease from lubricating points or ma-
chine parts on completion of lubrica-
tion work.
Cleaning
Note
Only use lint---free cloths for cleaning.
Clean the machine parts of fibres and
dust.

Servicing-work
DANGER
Leaving open doors increases the risk
of serious injuries.
In service-mode, the service-key
switch is switched from the ”0” posi-
tion into the ”I” position. When the ser-
vice-key switch is in the ”I” position,
parts of the electrical safety device are
not active.
Make sure that the service-key is kept
and used by authorised, qualified per-
sonnel only.

Faults
DANGER
Attempting to eliminate faults whilst
the machine is running can lead to the
injury or the death of personnel and
cause damage to the machine.
Only eliminate all faults when the ma-
chine is secured at a standstill.
DANGER
If safety- and protective devices are
not installed, there is a risk of injury or
death to maintenance personnel and
damage to the machine.
Always replace protective- and safety
devices properly after carrying out
work.
Caution
Attempts to carry out repair work with
insufficiently qualified personnel may
cause damage to the machine.
Make sure that faults are dealt with by
qualified personnel only. Never at-
tempt to carry out repair work if you
do not have the necessary experience.
Fault display
Faults are displayed on the ABE 2C display - and
oper-ating unit:
– A fault message appears in the display (1) 1
– The ”Fault message” (2) key lights up con-
stantly.
Deactivate the machine when one or more faults 2
occur.
Remedy the faults.
The machine can then be put into operation
again.
Note
When analysing and remedying faults
on the machine, follow instructions on
how to react in the event of faults on
the follow---up machine, i.e. the entire
production line.
