Credit Value 3

Prerequisite (if any) EFV 1023 - Electric Circuit

After completing the course, students should be able to:

1. Explain basic concept for AC electric circuits, transformer and three phase
system. (C2)
Learning 2. Analyze current, voltage, impedance, power, power factor, phase relationship
Outcomes between current and voltage for basic AC electrical circuit, transformer and three
phase system. (C4)
3. Show the ability to perform experiments. (P2)
4. Work collaboratively in a team during practical session and demonstrate skill of
communication through written assignment or oral presentation. (A3)

Transferable Skills Writing skill, practical skills and presentation skill

Teaching-learning strategy:
Teaching-learning
and assessment Teaching and learning will be via face to face, experiential method & work
strategy collaboratively. Student will also be required to do their own self-study and research
for certain topics, homework and assignment

Diploma In Electronic Engineering (Data Transmission & Network) 60

Assessment strategy:

Assessment will be both formative and summative. Students learning will be

assessed using quizzes, oral presentation, in classroom test, group assignment and
individual/group practical. Peer evaluation will be part of the assessment of a team
work for group assignment.

Mode of Delivery Lecture, tutorial, practical, demonstration

This course focuses on the behaviors of passive elements in circuits with AC power
supplies. Students will be exposed to the measurements of current, voltage and
Synopsis power of electric circuits with AC voltage source. The course also includes basic
concept and application of transformer and the fundamental knowledge of three
phase power system.
