 Overview

G
eoSmart India is an interactive platform that
demonstrates the collective and shared vision
of the Indian geospatial community and is
the most prominent stakeholder event of the Indian
geospatial ecosystem. The event plays an integral
role in bringing together decision makers and policy
developers, national mapping agencies, private
sector enterprises, developmental organizations
and academic institutions to discuss policies; their
implementation and impact, technology advancements
and adaptations and how to connect these with the
user communities to the benefit of all.
The Year 2019 will witness the 19th edition of
GeoSmart India. Over the years, GeoSmart India has
become an event best-known for its futuristic themes,
engaging content, and top-level attendees. With this
edition, Geospatial Media aims to strengthen the
“Vision New India” initiative through providing key
concepts of geospatial technology for Clean, Healthy,
Educated, Complete, Able and Secure India by
involving every stakeholder at local, state and
national levels.

In order to advance on its vision, the government has laid out plans for Digital
India, Smart Cities, High Speed Railways, Irrigation, and Skill Development, aiming
to create a sustainable base for continuing this development into the next decade.
Geospatial technology is essential to each of these programs as it provides a
platform that is capable of assimilating real time data, provides efficient processing
and delivers a shared, visual and lucid product that facilitates effective, efficient
and informed decision making. The integration of geospatial technology in the New

Theme: Empowering Through Inclusion –
A Holistic Approach
With India’s young and rapidly growing population, the country needs thriving cities that are sustainable in the
long run. If handled well, India can reap significant benefits from urbanization which is projected to account for
40% of India’s population by 2030. To make sure that tomorrow’s cities provide opportunities for all, it is essential
to understand that the concept of inclusive cities involves multiple spatial, social and economic factors. The Smart
Cities track will feature experts in Smart Governance, Inclusivity, Sustainability, Mobility, Safety, Communication,
Infrastructure, Health and Education. We will provide a platform that will enable us to drive technology to think,
recognize, learn, problem-solve and carry out decision-making in the development of Smart Cities in India using
geospatial strategy as the base.

Theme: Building Smart Infrastructure –
Towards an Integrated Transport Ecosystem
India is amongst the fastest growing economies of the world and it is essential that it sustainably maintains its growth
momentum in order to move towards its mission of reducing poverty and increasing the average standard of living
in the country. With a growing urban population it is necessary that India focuses significantly on its transportation
systems. It is imperative that the government and the industry collaborate extensively to build, upgrade and manage
world class transport infrastructure systems in India. Geospatial technology can provide powerful and efficient tools
to construct and analyse transportation networks that evaluate and communicate data and then transform and inte-
grate that data into information to create a transportation ecosystem.
The aim of the transportation infrastructure segment is to address the entire transport system in an integrated
manner and focus not only on the geospatial and other technologies that go into making these systems intelligent but
also ensures that they are safe, secure and environmentally sustainable.

Management System
Efficient, reliable and resilient energy supply are essential to economic growth. It is critical to India’s growing
economy that the importance is given to developing newer energy sources and increasing the efficiency in the way
in which we use them. The goal is to ensure sufficient energy at the lowest cost possible. A very important aspect
that must be addressed is providing this clean and convenient energy to everybody. It must be ensured that effective
policies lead the way to clean, efficient and resilient energy that is available to all.

Globally, water security is emerging as one of the main sustainability chal-
lenges. It is a critical factor for security in many societal and environmental
issues and therefore has many far reaching apprehensions that lie beyond
the traditional water sector. In order to study, project, deal with and plan for
water security issues, it is imperative that we understand the socio-economic
problems, environmental challenges and political barriers that we face when
addressing the topic of water.
Making sure that we have access to uncontaminated and reliable water
sources is vital. Geospatial technology can aid us in understanding how water
systems are impacted by various factors and how to preserve water quantity
and quality for the long term. The event will focus on how geospatial and
