Week 14: Resource Planning
Vocabulary
Planning: Construction project planning is a method of determining “What” is going to be done, “How”
things are going to be done, “Who” will be doing activities and “How much” activities will cost.
Plant: Mechanical equipment and services. Can be mobile such as cranes, dumpers, and excavators, or
can be stationary.
Scope of Works: A description of the extent and nature of work to be undertaken. The specification that
give the details of the work.
Scope of Work: The work that needs to be accomplished to deliver a product, service, or result with the
specified features and functions.
Work Breakdown Structure (WBS): In project management, is a deliverable‐oriented breakdown of a
project into smaller components.
Project Cost Management (PCM): Is an activity for estimating costs, developing project budget and
controlling spending.
Budget: Is a financial plan for a defined period of time. Estimate of the cost of work, and is considered to
cover the cost of all the contractors’ work.
Aggregate: Granular material used in concrete, road construction, mortars, and plaster. Aggregates can
originate from natural rocks, gravel and sands.
Aggregate Cement Ratio: Weight of aggregate divided by the weight of cement.
Adhesive:
A substance used to bond two objects or materials together.
Adjacent:
Adjoining, next to, near, or close to.
