PRESS RELEASE

UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS – FEBRUARY 2019 INTAKE


The Catholic University of Malawi will administer University Entrance Examinations for
the February 2019 intake as follows:
Dates: 3rd and 4th January, 2019
Venues: Catholic University of Malawi - Montfort Main Campus in Nguludi –
Chiradzulu.
St. Johns Secondary School in Area 36 in Lilongwe
Mary Mount Secondary School in Mzuzu

ELIGIBILITY
• The Entrance Examinations are open to those who already submitted application
forms for admission into the various full time programmes of the University.
• Eligible candidates are those who meet the minimum entry qualifications which
is Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent with
credit passes in six subjects including English obtained in not more than
two sittings in the recent past three years. The aggregate score in the best
six subjects must not exceed thirty (30) points.
• All applicants must present themselves for registration on Thursday 3rd January
2019 to ascertain their eligibility for the entrance examinations.
• The Catholic University of Malawi will not release a list of eligible candidates
prior to the day of screening but all those who applied and are meeting the
minimum entry qualifications have to report to the designated examination
centers on 3rd January, 2019 for screening.

REGISTRATION
• Candidates shall be required to register for the examination on Thursday 3rd
January 2019 beginning 8:00am at any of the three examination centres..
• Please note that there will be no registration on the day of the entrance
examinations.

EXAMINATION AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION


The Entrance Examinations will be administered on Friday 4th January 2019 starting at
8:00am and only those registered for the examinations the previous day are eligible to
write.
The following papers will be administered during the
entrance examination:
1. Reasoning Skills
2. Numerical Skills
3. English and Communication Skills
Candidates are asked to bring the following items on the day of registration and
examination:
1. Original copies of their MSCE certificate or MANEB notification of results slip
2. One recent passport size photograph
3. An identity such as passport, driving license, voter registration certificate or
identity from the previous school attended
4. Writing materials and No Calculators.

FOOD AND ACCOMMODATION


Please note that candidates for entrance examinations will have to cater for themselves.
Accommodation will be available at a fee of K1000 per night for those who will register
and write the entrance examinations at the main campus, Montfort-Nguludi.

1. No member of staff is receiving money to facilitate admission of applicants
into various programmes that the University offers.

2. The University does not receive money through Agents of Airtel Money

or Mpamba.

RELEASE OF NAMES OF SELECTED CANDIDATES


Names of selected candidates are expected to be released in the third week of January
2019 and those selected will report for the semester on Monday 11th February 2019.
