First Word First Baptist Church Naples

Trunk ‘n’ Treat

Sunday, October 31, 2010
6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
First Baptist Church Naples Parking Lot

The
Ultimate
Tailgate
Party Oct. 23 & 24, 2010
Out of the Depths
The whole world seemed to watch as 33 Chilean miners
were finally delivered from the heart of the earth after
days of danger, isolation, and attempted rescue. A variety
of responses poured in, including book and TV offers. As
they emerged in the capsule, they were wearing shirts with
the Jesus Film logo on the sides. I have been told by one
who is associated with Campus Crusade (the sponsor of the
marvelous Jesus Film ministry) that it said on the front: “Thank you Lord!”
These words were on the back: “In His hands are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to Him – Psalm 95:4. Honor and glory to
God! Amen!” Of course, at the writing of this article, I do not know if they
have a testimony of true faith in Christ and belief in His power, or that just
a clever Christian was able to get the right witnesswear into their hands
and on their backs. However, we still give glory to God.

We thank God that prayers were answered for their safety and for the
biblical testimony; He has delivered all of us who have desperately prayed,
“Out of the depths have I cried unto You” (Psalm 130:1). He is not just a
“higher power” but a wonderful Savior. After all, “neither height nor depth”
can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:39).

Only the Lord can deliver our nation from the collapse of our morality in
an earthquake of social, material, and spiritual upheaval. “The depths are
troubled” (Psalm 77:16). May we continue to pray to the same God who
delivered Israel again and again and Who can turn America around and
lift us up from the pit. Pray for a lasting transformation of convictions and
values and not just a quick referendum on the current administration.

It is because of this wonderful deliverance that we are able to declare our

belief in God’s goodness. Therefore, we welcome the new FAITH Riders
Motorcycle Ministry and commission them after the Saturday worship
service. We are also taking up a special offering to purchase 1,000 Bibles
for middle schools in Collier County along with other churches, thanks to
the efforts of the Liberty Council to recognize our freedom and right to do
so. We are in the rescue business.

Guest Reception
There is a guest reception in the Commons immediately following the
Saturday night and Sunday morning 11:00 a.m. service. Come and meet
Dr. Wicker.

understand the various ballot initiatives, early voting is now
available from 10:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. at seven polling places
across the County (see Collier County Supervisor of Elections
website).
The North Collier Library is by far the busiest early voting
location. Consider voting at Naples City Hall, Golden Gate
Community Center, or Collier County Government Center. The
busiest hours are 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. To save time, plan to
vote between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

If you have not had time to do your own research, a Voter’s

Guide on the Constitutional Amendments is available at
several locations around the church. We recommend that you
thoroughly research the candidates and issues before voting.

40 Days for Life

Thank you to all those who stood in opposition to abortion
in front of the Planned Parenthood offices here in Naples.
FBCN played a strong supporting role in the “40 Days for Life”
campaign. Across the country, the lives of 304 infants were
spared as a result of this peaceful prayer vigil.

Sermon Notes
Worshipful Atmosphere
It is our desire that Jesus be the focus in our worship services. Therefore, in
consideration of others desiring to worship with limited distraction, we ask
each person to please do the following:
- Please turn your cell phone off or set to vibrate.
- Please remain in the worship center (except
in the case of emergency) once you have entered
to worship.
- Should your child become unsettled or noisy during
the worship service, please take your little one to
the Fellowship Hallway, the Commons, or the
preschool ministry area in the Education Building
where you can comfortably watch the service on a
television monitor.
Thank you for helping us maintain a worshipful atmosphere for everyone!
