Part II: Reflection

CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?

The field experience was a great culminating task. It was a great way to bring full circle all that
was covered and learned within the semester. With the field experience, every piece of the course
came to life and I could see how and why everything was structured the way that it was. I can say
that I was fully prepared to complete the field experience and the proper preparation made for a
great experience. While completing the field experience, I learned that you should plan
everything! One must plan for those unforeseen obstacles and always include every learner and
learning style. I learned the importance of aligning content standards and technology integration.
As it pertains to technology facilitation, I learned you should also plan to have an alternative to the
technology you plan to use and provide options to where all students have access. From a
leadership standpoint, I learned that it is always great to see your vision from someone else’s
viewpoint. Doing so with the field experience allowed me to create a solid project.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you
be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the
language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)
The field experience required you to know the content covered in the course and be able to apply
it when needed. It required you to know, identify and understand the Engaged Learning Indicators
as well as the Levels of Technology Integration. With a clear understanding of these, I could apply
and create a great teaching and learning experience for teachers, students and all stakeholders
involved in the project. Prior to the completing the field experience, I felt I had grasp on
identifying the EL Indicators and determining the the LoTi Levels in small projects we were
exposed to. It was not until I completed the field experience that I realized identifying those
components were a lot easier than creating them and making a great project.

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?

The Making A Difference project was extremely engaging for all parties involved. Because of the
structure of the project, it gave light to the other who were able to be a part of the project a
different outlook on student capability and what it really meant to utilize technology to enhance
learning. Others had the opportunity to see that students as young as 2nd grade could successfully
complete a project with such depth. This field experience truly exposed the need and benefit of
project based learning for students. The impact of the project can be assessed by the
overwhelming support and wealth of knowledge the students received at the completion of the
project.
