LEARNING OBJECTIVES

M At the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to listen and mime corectly at least 5 sentences with support.

C At the end of the lesson, some pupils will be able to talk about their activities using the target language with support.

1. Prepare flashcards of action words.


2. Place the flashcards face down on a table in front of the class.
3. Take one of the flashcards, making sure the pupils can’t see it. Cover it with a piece of card then
I. PRE-LESSON slowly begin revealing the flashcard to the class. You could use an overhead projector and a piece
of paper or an interactive whiteboard, if either is available.
4. Pupils try to guess the word as it is revealed. Each time they guess correctly, put the flashcard on
the board. Continue until the pupils have guessed all the words.
1. Reviews the flashcards on the board from the pre-lesson task by checking pupils know these
expressions.
2. Then mime each one and ask pupils to guess what you are doing.
3. Organise pupils into 7 groups.
4. Distribute a picture card to each group.
5. Groups look at the pictures, identify the action words and mime it.
II. LESSON DEVELOPMENT 6. Encourage pupils to come up with their own actions.
7. Say a sentence.
8. Stress on the action word. (e.g. I swim on Mondays.)
9. Group with the action word ‘swim’ will repeat the sentence and mime the sentence.
10. The rest of the groups listen and follow.
11. Repeat with other sentences.
12. Teacher may exchange roles for further practise.
1. Ask pupils to think of their free time activities on Saturdays or on Sundays.
2. Ask pupils to share their activities with a partner. ( I ____ on _____ . )
3. Then, get them to share to the class.
e.g. I swim on Saturdays. John plays football on Saturdays.
