Introduction;
THE
GRIMOIRE
The importance of the classical grimoire, and the more personal books of
spells attributed to various witches and cunning folk, has been greatly
undervalued in more recent studies of the craft. Nevertheless, the
knowledge of the black arts and the important place of the grimoire has
been well documented since before the middle ages and we have a great
storehouse of records at our disposal, both from the sorcerer’s themselves
and those who prosecuted them.
“.. that for ten years and more he served a certain powerful
man in Bavaria who was called Johannes Cunalis, who is a
priest and plebanus, in a city called Munich.. Likewise he
said and confessed that this Johannes Cunalis had in his
possession a librum de nigromancia, and that when he who
spoke opened this book at once there appeared to him three
Demons, one named Luxuriosus, another Superbus, and a
third Avarus, all of them Devils…
Likewise, he said and confessed that he had proposed to
blind Johanneta, the widow of Johannes Paganus of the
present place, because she displeased him. With two keys
he had traced her image, in a manner and form which he
explained in the examination; he did this on a Sunday,
depicting her image beneath the names of Devils, using
implements, materials and techniques described in the
examination…
Likewise, he said and confessed that poisons were made
by the aid of Devils, by which men could be killed, through
their working or by the aid of Demons… and taken from a
basilisk, toad, serpent, spider or scorpion…
… and that on the feast of Saint John the Baptist he
gathered certain herbs for medicine, as specified in the
proceedings, and on bended knee he first adored them, then
extracting them in the name of his Devils, and in despite of
almighty God, the creator of all…”
The classical grimoire have also shown their influence in more recent
times. It is told that the magician Allan Bennet, upon meeting the student
Aleister Crowley for the first time, greeted him with the words “Little
brother, you have been meddling with the Goetia.” Crowley, who later
went on to publish his own version of this text, denied the charge.
Bennet’s reply was to state simply, “Then, little brother, the Goetia has
been meddling with you!” Note that Crowley later identified himself as
The Beast 666. Although he may have insisted that his transcendental
philosophy was essential White Magick, his Holy Guardian Angel
nevertheless turned out to be the Devil Himself.
Others who have been known to practice this Goetic witchcraft have
included W.B. Yeats and MacGregor Mathers, Cecil Williams, Charles
Pace. The influence of the classical grimoire may even be seen in the
ritual tools and circles as described in the Wiccan Book of Shadows.
Chiefly it is the practice of evocation, of summoning and binding spirits
by means of their names, signatures, by words of power, by magical
glyphs and talisman.
The powers and knowledge these devils grant is that of herbs and
stones, the giving of imps and familiars, the location of riches, the healing
of illness, of slaying at a distance, reconciling broken friendships, and
bringing back strayed lovers. The classical grimoire of tradition may be
composed and copied by cultured and educated hands, yet they give form
and expression to desires and beliefs that might otherwise be described
not merely as primitive, but even atavistic. Its seemingly anti-Christian
theological and ceremonial expressions may be sophisticated and obscure,
yet in essence it is the same as those ante-Christian pagan practices of
witchcraft as have condemned the souls of many an assumed illiterate
and simple peasant. The ‘evils’ are entirely and in every sense identical.
Like the wand or sword, the powers of the grimoire were applied with
conviction. Consider that in the above confession of Jubertus of Bavaria,
three devils appeared “..when he who spoke opened this book..” It is not
merely the formulae, names, signs and prayers, or the astrological charts
and recipes for spells and potions that provide the value of such a work. In
the rites of black magick, the grimoire were understood to be inhabited in
themselves by devils.
Yet even more literally, there were grimoire that actually stated their
own sentience, giving instruction as to its awakening, binding to the
summoner’s will, and required sacrifices and prayers for the spirit’s ‘care
and keeping’. This is a portion of glamour sadly missing in the modern
age. It is the spirit within which the original hand bound edition of
‘Witcha’ was originally offered, with each edition being ritually
consecrated by myself.
Indeed, the belief that the average rural cunning men and witches of old
were unable to read or write is now considered to be largely error. That
these operations of black magick are otherwise known as goetia, meaning
‘witchcraft’ or ‘the howling of the witches’, goety being an obsolete
English word derived from the above Latin employed to mean the
performing of magick by summoning spirits, should be clue enough to
their origins. Indeed, before ‘conversion’ a huge portion of pagan gods
could easily have been described as devils anyway- however benevolent
they were to those who appeased them.
The difference is that these schools also possessed the esoteric wisdom,
of which modern science recognises only the outer forms. So it is with
the hermeticists, who were well aware of much that we now call
psychology, yet also recognised that the human mind is not the limited
faculty that modern man supposes. The cracking of this code, through the
performance of rituals of incantation, might be self hypnotic psychodrama
or actual gateways through which travellers between the dimensions may
pass. It matters little. The procedures and results are the same.
Through the study of the angelic and demonic forms, we can begin to
see the traces of a strange evolution of belief. What began on the whole
as spirits of nature grew to become the gods of the pagan age. These in
turn were reinterpreted and demonised as one culture dominated another.
The most ancient gods become the giants and Titans, whilst younger
conquering religions build new temples. These in turn became subjugated
to monothiesm, and their nature is reinterpreted yet again. In our modern
day we no longer like to speak of God or the Devil, and perhaps even feel
a slight embarrassment at the superstitions of our forebears. Instead we
are more comfortable to reduce such ideas to psychological concepts.
Modern magicians and witches, even those who consider belief to be a

working tool rather than an end in itself, find no less difficulty than our
cowan (uninitiated) contemporaries.
There is very little that I can say to convince any reader that has never
been smacked across the room by an errant spirit that such things might
actually happen. All I can say is that if the ‘psychological paradigm’ is
the only approach you feel comfortable with, then you are welcome to
reinterpret all I have to say according to your limited and stunted belief
system. For my own part, however, I have absorbed the language of
rational psychology and employ it readily to describe various process and
phenomena wholly unacceptable to modern ‘rationality’. I apologise if
this seems patronising, but as far as I am concerned… you started it!
That spirit takes its form through a syncretic relationship with the
human psyche does not mean that they are any less real than we are. The
effect may be likened to our concept of what we more comfortably think
of as objective reality. Our visual perception results through a complex
relationship between a physical object, light, the lenses of the eyes, and a
series of electrical signals sent to the brain. It is arguable that the
resulting impression is no less objective or subjective than the subtle
impression of a passing ghost, or even dream itself. Indeed all of reality,
whether we practice witchcraft or not, seems to comply to some extent
with what we expect from it. What we experience in turn reinforces those
things we believe and expect. This is something that even our modern
rationalist, with all their active disbelief, might agree with.
The words on this page also gain their meaning through a similar
process of interpretation in the mind of the reader (i.e. you). In this sense
they are a form of enchantment. Indeed the written word has always been
considered as magical.
For the sake of context I shall say a little about those works which have
had the greatest influence on the traditions of witchcraft and magick
generally. Where possible the student is advised to seek out copies of
these works, although such are usually only available to academics of
high standing. An extremely valuable and easily available published text
to aid in the study of the traditional grimoire is Arthur Edward Waite’s
monumental text currently available as The Wordsworth Book of Spells
(ISBN 1-85326-355-9).
The Picatrix
This book was originally of Arabic origin, being translated into
European languages around the thirteenth century. It was amongst the
most commonly owned by the cunning men and witches of the United
Kingdom. It deals less with devils and demons, and more with astrology
and the making of talisman. The general attitude of the work is one of
piety, and the secrets it contains are far more sacred than diabolist. Much
of its information, however, later becomes reproduced in those works that
might more properly be described as works of necromancy. It had
considerable influence upon the traditions of witchcraft and magick
transmitted through the classical grimoire.
The Bible
Although some readers may be a little surprised and possibly even
upset to see the ‘Good Book’ included in a list of grimoire, its use as a
source of witchcraft has a long tradition. In particular the Psalms, hand
copied, torn out, or recited aloud, have been used in many spells
throughout the ages. Various other passages are also considered to
possess their own power.
In those traditions where the worship of the Goddess has continued,
often under the guise of the three Marys, the Song of Solomon has
particular importance.
Whilst modern witches are lucky enough to have all the theological
history books at their disposal, and may thus consider themselves to have
‘rediscovered’ their pagan heritage, the witches of the Middle Ages had
only those few snippets that were preserved in their lineage. Much of
their theology was thus Christian and drawn from the Bible, even if
interpreted in ways that the Church would strongly have disapproved of.
Many modern practitioners have not even read this work, whilst in the
past we were all made to listen to vast passages of it recited by their
priests, once a week and by law.
Various spells actually use the Bible as a ritual object in its own right.
‘Bibliomancy’ is a form of divination through which a pin is stuck at
random into a page of the Bible, and the result interpreted as the answer to
whatever question is being asked. An alternative is to tie the Bible up in a
garter, which is held at the top by the ring. This is then used like a
pendulum, with answers being interpreted from the direction that the Bible
begins to turn.
“Then the Lord said to Micha-el: ‘Go and strip Enoch of his
own clothes; anoint him with oil, and dress him like
ourselves’ and Micha-el did as he was told. He stripped me
of my clothes, and rubbed me over with a wonderful oil like
dew; with the scent of myrrh; which shone like a sunbeam.
And I looked at myself, and I was like one of the others;
there was no difference and all my fear and trembling left
me.”
Dr. John Dee was obsessed by the idea of the Book of Enoch, and yet
was unable to obtain a copy. His system of Enochian Magick was created
when he and Edward Kelly were attempting to divine its contents.
Clavicula Salomonis
Otherwise known as the Key of Solomon the King. The first English
translation of this theurgic text was made in 1889, although the British
Museum possess a Greek version dated 1100-1200 e.v. It is known to
have existed since the first century, and is an important text in the study of
Kaballa. In 1310 the Pope Innocent VI ordered all copies destroyed, and a
similar commandment was given in 1559. In the 17th century, thanks to
the new technology of the printing press, this work and its companion The
Lesser Key became best sellers.
Lesser Key of Solomon (The Goetia)
This work is also attributed to the legendary King Solomon, and gives
details of the seventy two devils that were bound to his command, as well
as the details as to how the reader may summon and command them. It
forms the blueprint upon which most other grimoire are copied from.
It is mentioned by the Venetian Inquisition, who found a witch to be in
possession of it.
Grimoire of Honorius
Widely circulated in the 17th century, first published some time between
1629 and 1670. Attributed to Pope Honorius, the text is highly
Christianised and contains aspects of kabalist lore. It was described by
Eliphas Levi, in Key of the Great Mysteries, as 'a veritable monument of
human perversity'. This is usually of the classical Catholic variety,
requiring that the sorcerer is either also an ordained priest, or has the aid
of one. Levi further claims that the instruction to 'sacrifice a live kid' is an
instruction to sacrifice a human child, as opposed to a male goat as most
have presumed. It is just possible that Levi was continuing, with this
claim, the symbolic tradition that obscures the sexual elements of goetic
sorceries. Instructions to 'sacrifice children' may in fact be instruction to
the magical use of non-procreative sex, classically either masturbatory,
homosexual, or during the menstrual cycle of the sorceress.
Although these are perversions of Catholic iconography, they are not
inversions in the sense of Satanism. The power of God, Jesus, the Virgin
Mary, the Archangels, Thrones, Dominations, Powers, Patriarchs,
Prophets, Apostles and Evangelists are called upon to bully the demonic
forces into submission to the will of the summoner. The danger of the
heresy here is that it is not seen as at all incongruous that a holy man
might also be conversing with the powers of darkness, even if it is to
subordinate them.
The Book of Abra-Melin
Sometimes called the Sacred Magick of Abra-Melin the Mage, the text
claims to have been written by a Jewish magician in Wursburg for his son
in 1458. It is considered more likely to date from the 18th century, the
oldest known version being in French and preserved in the Arsénal
Library in Paris. The art described within is called the Attainment of the
Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel, which later
became the principal goal of the Thelemic current, as inspired by the
magician, psychonaut, and publicity freak Aliester Crowley.
Grand Grimoire
French, dated perhaps from around the 17th century, with many
spurious forgeries bearing the same name. It is in two parts, the first
dealing with the evocation of Lucifuge Rofocale by means of the blasting
rod (wand), the second dealing exclusively in the making of Pacts. It is
the most classical of all grimoire, and that most likely to have inspired the
story of Faust.
The Heptemeron
Known otherwise as Magical Elements, attributed to Peter de Abano,
dates probably from around the fifteenth century. It is thus not the work
of the author claimed, who died in 1250. The work contains detailed and
straight forward instructions by which spirits may be summoned and
drawn into communication, and detailed concourse upon the subjects of
geomancy and astrology. Its two major parts are firstly concerned with
summoning the Angels of Air, who are bullied and treated as the demons
in any other classical grimoire, and a sequence of daily meditations
clearly based upon the observances of the Essenes. The second deals
purely with the summoning of various spirits, each with their own
‘specialities’ not unlike the Goetia.

SHINING
ONES
The Hierarchy of
Heaven
Even our classical image of the angel, a beautiful human with bird
wings, has its origin in pagan imagery. In the 8th century, when the
foundations of Church doctrine were being laid, the visual artists were
no less influenced by their heritage than the writers were. Two of the
common inspirational sources of their works include the Hellenic Greek
god of sexuality, Eros, and ‘The Winged Victory’, Nike. Similar
reference is made in images of the Virgin and child Christ and Venus
with Cupid upon her own lap. Such continued to provide models for the
Renaissance artists of the 12th-15th century. A more eastern influence
may also be recognised in the ‘Peacock Angels’ of Fra. Fillipo Lippi.
Although the power of the Church extended its control of the arts, as the
governments do with the media in modern times, painters such as
Leornado da Vinci explored philosophies of heresy and mysticism,
sciences liberal and otherwise. To keen and unconditioned eyes there
are numerous signs of profound magical humour in their works, hidden
in plain view.
1st Choir:
Seraphim
The ‘fiery flying serpents of lightning’, from the Hebrew ser meaning
‘higher being’ and rapha meaning ‘healer’. The name thus suggests the
image of the caduceus, the serpent or dragon as a symbol of healing
sacred to Aesculapius, and the Ourobouros of the Gnostic Ophites. Their
appearance before humankind is as six winged and four headed beings.
The prophet Isiah saw flaming angels above the Throne of God; “Each
had six wings: two covered the face, two covered the feet and two were
used for flying.”
It is they who endlessly circle the throne of God, chanting the Hebrew
Trisagion- Kadosh, Kadosh, Kadosh, commonly translated as “Holy,
Holy, Holy is the Lord God of Hosts, the whole Earth is full of His
Glory”. Such is the Song of Creation, and the First and Highest
Emanation of Love.
According to the Book of Enoch there are four Seraphim,
corresponding to the four winds. Later commentators have amended this
to mean that there are four ‘Princes’ who rule over them. They are;
Metatron or Satan, Kemu-el, Nathana-el, and Gabri-el.
2nd Choir:
Cherubim
The Hebrew ‘Kerub’ is commonly translated as ‘knowledge’, or ‘one
who intercedes’. They are the first angels mentioned in the Bible,
stationed by God “East of Eden the Cherubim and the Ever Turning
Sword to guard the way to the Tree of Life”. They are described by
Theodorus, Bishop of Heraclea, as “Beasts which might terrify Adam
from the entrance of Paradise”. In the Hebrew tradition they are
described as having four faces and four wings, or alternatively by John
of Patmos in Revelations as having six wings and six eyes. They are
considered the Bearers of God’s Throne and His charioteers. See Psalm
18. They also appear as golden sculptures covering the Ark of the
Covenant.
The origins of the term lie in Babylon, where they are monstrous
winged entities guarding the entrances to temples; the ‘Ka-ri-bu’. Similar
creatures guarded the Assyrian Tree of Everlasting Life.
3rd Choir:
Thrones- Ophanim or Galgallin
In Hebrew Merkabah lore, they are the ‘Great Wheels’ or ‘Many Eyed
Ones’. ‘Galgal’ meaning ‘pupil of the eye’. Whilst the Cherubim are
God’s charioteers, the Ophanim are the actual chariots. In more modern
terms, they are the archetypal U.F.O. or ‘flying saucer’.
They are variously said to reside in the third and fourth Heavens, and
thus exist as the first emanations that may be considered as possessing
the elemental developments of form and substance. It is here that
Heaven meets Earth, and thus becomes exposed to potential corruption.
The most powerful of mystics and magicians have been known to
summon the Angels of the Throne and bind them as ‘magical machines’;
thus gaining the perfect astral form and the abilities to travel to Heaven,
Hell, through time, space, and the dimensions of para-reality.
According to Rabbinic scripture, all the Hebrew patriarchs joined this
order upon their arrival in Heaven, although Christian theologians
obviously disagree on this point.
Their ruling Prince is Raphael. See Ezekiel 1:13-19.
THE SECOND CIRCLE
Middle Triad
The Second Triad are concerned with the dualistic nature of humanity
in seeking the Ultimate Unity with God. As such they are closer to
humanity, and more prone to corruption. In occult lore many are
considered to be ‘Double Agents’, appearing both as Angels and as
Devils. To the black magician or witch they are thus powerful allies.
4th Choir:
Dominions
Also called Dominations, Lords, Kuriotetes, and in Hebrew lore
Hamshallim. Considerd as channels of Mercy residing in the Second
Heaven, and according to Dionysus regulate the Angel’s duties. Its
ruling Lords are Zadkiel, Hashmal (Hasmal/Chasmal, the ‘fire speaking
Angel’), Yahriel and Muriel.
5th Choir:
Virtues
Known also as Malakim, the Dunamis, Tarshishim, ‘Brilliant Ones’ or
‘Shining Ones’. They are said to bestow miracles and blessings, and are
most often associated with heroes and those who fight for what is right.
According to the Book of Adam and Eve, two virtues acted as midwives
at the birth of Cain. Their ruling princes are Michael, Raphael, Bariel,
Tashish, and before the Fall, Satan-el.
6th Choir:
Powers
The Dynamis, Potentiates and Authorities, the first angels created by
God. They inhabit the border between the First and Second Heavens.
Saint Paul warns that the Powers may be both good and evil. They act as
guides to the soul, and their task is to transform the duality of mundane
consciousness into a unity with Divinity; see Romans 13:1. In occult
lore they act as guides upon the astral plane, coming to the aid of those
deceased who might otherwise be unbalanced by the experience and
drawn into insanity.
Their chief is Cama-el, ‘He who sees God’, who exemplifies the
nature of the powers in that he may be considered as benign and malign,
and yet gains the favour of God. As Kemu-el, he acts as mediator
between the prayers of Israel and the Hierarchs of the Seventh Heaven.
As Chamuel, he wrestled with Jacob and appeared to Jesus in the Garden
of Gethsemane. It was also Cama-el who was blasted by Moses when he
attempted to prevent Moses from receiving the Torah from God. He is
said to command 144,000 angels of destruction, punishment, vengeance
and death.
Cama-el is also identified in the Goetia as a Duke of Hell.
7th Choir:
Principalities
Originally seen as an order in charge of the nations, and later of the
religions. There is some disagreement as to who is the chief amongst
them. Contenders include Hami-el, who transported Enoch to Heaven
and is identified with the Chaldean deity Ishtar, Cervill the Prince of
Strength who is said to have come to David’s aid in defeating Goliath.
Also Ana-el who is named as one of the Seven Angels of Creation and is
associated with human sexuality. He is also named as governor of the
Second Heaven, with control of the world’s leaders and whose Dominion
encompasses the moon. The final and strangest contender is Nisrock,
originally an Assyrian deity and is also identified as a Prince of Hell.
8th Choir:
Archangels
According to Dionysos these are the “Messengers which carry the
Divine Decrees”. They are considered the most important
intercessionaries between God and humankind and lead the forces of
Heaven in their constant struggle with the Infernal Legions. They are the
seven Angels that stand before God in Revelations. The Koran of Islam
recognises four but names only two- Jibril (Gabri-el), and Micha-el.
These two also appear in Masonic and psuedo-Masonic occult lore,
accompanied by Rapha-el and Uri-el, as are summoned in the Lesser
Rite of the Pentagram. These are the four Guardian Angels. The other
three are traditionally chosen from Remi-el, Sari-el, Ana-el, Ragu-el,
Razi-el and Metatron.
Shekinah According to the Zohar the creation of the world was the
work of the Shekinah, who is the female aspect of the Metatron. The
Shekinah was exiled after the Fall of Adam and Eve, and according to
rabbinical lore the entire purpose of the Torah is to lead the Shekinah
back to God and unite Her with Him.
9th Choir:
Angels
Theses are the last in the Heavenly hierarchy and the closest to mankind.
Many early Hebrew sources recognise the existence of Angels before
creation, as did the early Catholic Church. In the Talmud, however, we
are informed that having been created they sing a Hymn of praise to God
and promptly expire, only to be recreated again the following day.
The officially recognised doctrine of modern Catholicism states that
Angels are purely immaterial spiritual beings.
Generally they are described as serpents and dragons with seven heads,
each with two faces, and as twelve wings. As in the above passage they
were seduced by the potentials of the flesh and descended onto Mount
Hermon 12,000 years ago. They cohabited with human females of the
lowlands below Eden to father the Nephilim, giants who later went on to
build the Tower of Babel and brought an end to the Aeon of Enoch..
Rabbi Elkiezer of the 8th century puts the blame squarely on the
women. “The Angels who fell from Heaven saw the daughters of Cain
perambulating and displaying their private parts, their eyes painted with
antimony in the manner of harlots, and, being seduced, took wives from
amongst them.”
The Watchers and their brood devolved through their carnal obsessions
and became tainted by the powers they sought to master. As it says in
the Book of Enoch; “..And they began to sin against the birds, the beasts,
and reptiles, and fish, and to devour one another’s flesh.” It seems they
were unable to divest themselves of their mortal forms and instead
descended further and further into carnality.
Naturally, God stepped in to try and sort out the mess. The Watchers
and their foul offspring were either thrown into the Abyss, or were
destroyed in the Great Flood. However, there are many black magicians
and witches who believe it is possible to contact and learn from these
entities even in the modern day. Their names appear with regularity in
the grimoires, and they are considered to be the first of ‘the Blood’.
Those who are moved to take up the heathen sorceries do so because we
are carrying forward the genetic anomaly of the children of Cain, whose
blood was ‘tainted’ with that of the Grigori.
Thus these arts are not mere low sorcery, but the profound veneration
of our ancestry. It is our embracing of the Infernal nature that is within
all humankind, and its deliberate awakening within the current of
witchcraft. This myth itself is reflected in the earlier Babylonian tale
where humankind are created from the blood of Kingu, first of her brood
leader of the dragon Tiamat’s army of Chaos.
Through us, they walk upon the earth. According to the Book of
Enoch, their identities are as follows;
Anma-el: Made a sexual pact with a mortal woman to reveal the Secret
Names of God.
Azael/Azazel: Possibly from the Babylonian Arsiel, who was the demon
of the bottomless pit and whose name meant ‘Black Sun’, although
usually translated to mean ‘Whom God strengthens’. He was supposedly
the first to descend, and later becomes Ibliss. According to rabbinical
texts, he is also Satan, who refused to bow before the Son of Clay. With
Naamah, sister of Cain, he fathered Azza ‘the strong one’, who later
revealed the Heavenly Arcana to Solomon..
Talmai-el: A descendant of the Grigori who escaped the Flood and the
Avenging Angels.
In the Old Testament it is God Himself who slays the first born of
Egypt, sends plagues and famine, strikes down with lightning, and
demands of Abraham that he sacrifice his first born son. The idea of a
separate evil only gradually arrives from the 2nd century B.C.
The idea of a Devil does not appear in the Old Testament. Rather, we
find ha-satan, ‘the Opposer’. Yet this title was a common term for an
opponent of any kind, and this was most probably a title of office as in a
modern prosecution. It is thus morally neither good nor evil, but rather
an agent of neutrality. In Enoch I the scribe describes his first meeting
with the Lord (En XL:6) where he also witnesses Uriel “arguing against
the satans and refusing them permission to come before the Lord to
accuse those from the Earth.”
The myth of the Fall originates in The Book of Enoch, and is outside
of the Canon. Yet by the time the New Testament was compiled the
influence of Enoch had been absorbed, along with elements of the
Persian Zoroastrian religion, Judea being under Persian rule from the 6th
to 4th centuries B.C. In their cosmology there are two principles of
Ahura Mazda, being creative, and Ahriman, being destructive. So
evenly matched are they that the slightest flux can topple the balance,
and mortal-kind are constantly being drawn to one side or the other.
Originally the Devil was the shadow side of God, His dark aspect.
Mal’ak was the term employed for that aspect of God that was able to
communicate with mortal kind. It was this concept that was translated
into the concept of the angel. Only the shadow was able to communicate
because the Light is too great for a human to bear, as with Zeus.
As the Hebrew religion evolved, so did this ‘shadow’, until it broke
away from God and became a separate power having its own free Will.
However, with this separation came the natural dualistic attribution of
God’s other characteristics, so that the Shadow also becomes His
destructive and malign aspect, whilst the Light becomes everything
good. In the Book of Jubilee, compiled approximately a hundred years
after the Old Testament, this shadow has acquired the title of Mastema, a
Hebrew word meaning ‘adversity’. From this moment it is this Accusing
Angel that becomes responsible for all the darker things previously
imputed to God. It was the Mastema who hardened the Pharoah’s heart
and assisted the Egyptian sorcerers against Israel.
This is reflected in the Book of Job. Satan has been speaking ill of
Job, and God gives him permission to afflict Job as a way of testing him.
Satan destroys not only Job’s property, but takes away his health and
slays his numerous sons and daughters.
The concept of the Evil One is essential in any religion that preaches
redemption, for there must be something to be overcome. It is an old
truth that the Devil is the Church’s greatest ally, keeping it in business.
During the next two millennia the Dark One inevitably gathered
followers of His own, as well as many new names and titles.
Amongst them is the Father of Lies, and it is said that the greatest trick
He ever played was convincing us that He does not exist. Not even His
servants seem to actually believe in Him anymore- such is as He has
commanded. As with all liars his story is inconsistent, and there are
many conflicting versions of how He and His fellows came to exist.
According to some versions of this myth, the Devil has set Himself up
in competition to God, and has created His own dark counterpart of
Heaven within the Abyss.
A Sufic version of this tale exists in which Lucifer is seen as the angel
who loved God the most. His refusal to bow before Adam was not out
of pride, but through obedience to a previous ruling that God had given
to bow before none but Him. In this version the Devil suffers terribly
from God’s inability to forgive him, and is most jealous and bitter
towards humankind as the new object of God’s love.
Most versions agree that the Devil was once viceroy of God, and in
his original form he is said to have had twelve wings. Gregory of
Nazianus states that before the Fall he had worn the other Angels as a
“garment, transcending all in glory..” In the Gospel of Bartholomew the
Devil states ;
Even St. Jerome agrees that the Devil will eventually be reinstated at
God’s side as a power of Heaven. Lucifer is seen as the dying and
reborn Son of the Morning, the balancing counterpart and Mastema of
Christ.

The Book of
Infernal Names
Agares (Goetic, from Greek agreus meaning hunter, also the name of
an avatar of Dionysos). A Duke ruling in the East. Formerly of the
Angelic Order of Virtues. Appears as an old man riding a crocodile,
with a goshawk on his fist. Causes earthquakes, destroys dignities,
teaches languages, brings back runaways, makes those who run stand
still.
Azazel (Hebrew). Demon prince of air. Also, amongst the Watchers (see
above).
Azi Dahaki (Avestan azi, meaning snake, Modern Farsi azidaha,
meaning dragon). From earliest Indo-Aryan, three headed serpent,
embodiment of falsehood, usurper of Iran. Accomplice of Ahriman at the
end of the world.
Baal, Bael (Goetia, 1st spirit, West Semite, Lord, owner) Who wears a
conical cap with a long band of bull’s horns, and is identified with Seth.
Also manifests as the patron devil of idleness, with the arms of a spider
and three heads; a toad, a cat, and a man. Second in command of Hell,
residing in its eastern region, commanding sixty or seventy legions of
demons. Archdemon of Netzach (Waite). King commanding 66 legions.
Speaks hoarsely. Gives the power of invisibility. (Goetia). The title of
Baal is Syrian and means god or lord.
Baphomet This character has long been identified with the Devil and the
Goat of Mendes, and as purely male. Such has played its part in the
continuation of that myth which states that the Templars were the agents
of Darkness. The name ‘Baphomet’ is also that of the Goddess of the
Gnostics, Sophia. It is hidden through the Cabbalist codes of Temurah.
In this, the letters of words are substituted, transposed and altered, so that
any word may yield a hidden meaning. In writing the twenty two letters
of the Hebrew alphabet in a special order and in two lines, the letters
above and below are substituted for each other. In the most direct form
of this code the alphabet is written in its entirety on one line, and then
related to itself running backwards in the line below. Employing this
code, the sacred name of Baphomet translates to that of Sophia. Perhaps
this was known to Eliphas Levi, whose depiction of this Mystery is
commonly reproduced in modern texts. His picture is that of a
hermaphrodite, displaying both male genitalia symbolised as the two
caduceus serpents, and female breasts.
Beast 666 (Hebrew). Scarlet hued monster with ten horns and seven
heads, the body of a leopard, the feet of a bear, the jaws of a lion, who
rises from the sea ridden by the Whore of Babylon to herals the coming
of the Apocalypse. It will have power over Earth for fourty-two months,
during which time all will marvel because it was and is not and is to
come (Revelations 17:8). The Beast shall lay waste with plague and
destruction, defeating the power of the Saints. The AntiChrist tricks
mortals into believing it is the Messiah, commanding them to worship its
brazen image. At Armageddon, the Beast 666 and his legions battle
against the true Christ.
Belial, Beliar (Hebrew, unholy one, Goetia 68th spirit). The Ruling
Prince of Sheol, his name means ‘worthless’. Spirit and prince of
darkness, patron of arrogance, lies, and deceit. Inspires women to dress
in finery, gossip in church, and indulge their children. Wicked men are
of him (2 Samuel 16:17) In Psalm 18:5 the phrase nachaleri belial,
floods of ungodly men, is translated in Catholic texts as ‘streams of the
devil’. Before the Fall, an prince of the Order of Virtues, he was created
directly after Lucifer.
In the Cabbalah of 15th-16th century, believed to be God’s worst
enemy. Qlippoth of Ain Soph.
In some myths, Belial was the original evil, and was already resident
in the Abyss when Lucifer fell. In the Gospel of Bartholomew Beliar
tells us “At first I was called Satanel, which is interpreted to mean
Messenger of God, but when I rejected the image of God my name was
called Satanas, that is an angel that keepeth Hell.” He goes on to boast
“..I was formed the first Angel”.
In the Goetia, a King commanding 50 legions. Appears as two
beautiful angels sitting in a chariot of fire, who speak with a comely
voice. Distributes presentations and senatorships, causes favour of
friends and foes, gives excellent familiars.
Possible roots include the Mesopotamian goddess Belili.
Belmagel The evil Angel of the scryer Edward Kelly, who worked
alongside Dr. Dee to earth the Enochian Angelic Magick.
Cassiel Angel ruling Saturn and Saturday, also listed as a demon in The
Magus, Francis Barret.
Carreau (?). Before the Fall, a prince of the Order of Powers. Now his
job is to harden men’s hearts. His adversary in Heaven is Vincent
Ferrer.
Crocell, Crocell, Crokel Procell (Goetia, 49th spirit). Before the Fall, a
prince of the Order of Powers. Presides over forty-eight demonic
legions. Teaches the liberal arts and geometry, , makes a noise like
rushing water, finds baths, warms water, may make water boil or freeze
instantly.
Choronzon (Enochian). The Devil of the Abyss, Daath, who renders the
psyche of those who fail the leap across.. He was the subject of the
famous evocation performed by Crowley and Neuberg in the desert,
which culminated in a spontaneous homosexual working between the
possessed Magus and his accomplice. Choronzon may also be identified
as the demon of the hypertrophied ego, and he may be summoned to
bring fruition to those desires the sorcerer may be loathe to admit to.
Dagon, Dagan (West Semitic, corn, fish). Chief god of the Philistines
(Judges 16:23). Lord of the Deep Ones, with the body of a man and a
fishes’ tail for legs like an obscene merman. Master of Hell’s pantry.
Dantalion (Goetia, 71st spirit). Duke commanding 36 legions. Appears
as a many faced man with a book in his right hand. Teaches art and
sciences, reads and controls minds, procures love, shows images of
anyone regardless of their whereabouts.
Devel (Gypsy). The highest being. The word Devel is cognate with
Sanskrit deva, meaning god.
Djall (Albanian). A name for the Devil. Cognate with Latin, diabolus.
Dreqi (Albanian, from the Latin draco, meaning dragon). A name for
the Devil.
Dumah (Egypt, Hebrew). One of the seven princes of Hell. Angel of the
‘Silence of Death’. In the Zohar, chief of all demon princes in Gehenna
and guardian of Egypt during the escape of the Hebrews.
Fairy (Old French, phairee, to dream). The Shining Ones who are the
ancestral dead, also considered the spawn of Lilith and Lucifer,
descended from the Fallen Angels. Closely related to ‘elves’, otherwise
called ‘The Shining Ones’.
Fates (Greek). Originally the three weavers of men’s destiny they ere
identified as actually being denizens of Hell by the medieval
demonologist Alphonsus de Spina.
Gaap (Goetia, 33rd spirit). President and Prince, formerly of the Angelic
Order of Potentates. Who appears sporting bat’s wings, rules sixty-six
legions of Hell, and is governor of the southern region of the Abyss.
Makes men insensible and stupid, teaches philosophy(!) and liberal
sciences, causes love or hatred, teaches how to consecrate objects
belonging to the dominion of Amaymon (his King), steals familiars from
other Magickians, tells fortunes, teleports. Possibly from the Old Syrian
god ‘Gapn’, whose name means ‘vine’ and was a messenger of Baal.
Gremlin (U.K., U.S.A.). These demons were first identified during the
First World War, when they started messing around with air-planes and
pilot’s minds. In modern times, as technology has advanced, they have
found even more arenas in which to play their pranks, such as
computers, televisions, and telephones.
Gressil (?). Fallen Angel of the Order of Thrones, now tempts humans
into lechery, impurity, and sloth.
Hecate (Greek). Triple headed Queen of sorcery, who dwells where the
roads meet. Known also as Enodia, Trioditus, and Antaia, she who
encounters you. Identified in some witch traditions as the mother of
Lucifer.
Hel (Old Norse). The Queen of the underworld, and the name of the
realm itself. The daughter of Loki and the giantess Angrboda, sister of
Fenrir and the Midgard serpent. Even the gods must tread the way of
Hel.
Helel ben Shachar (Hebrew, Morning Star, Shining One). The phrase
as it appears in the original Hebrew, Isaiah 14:12. Thus taken to be a
name of Lucifer.
Hornblas (?). Patron devil of musical discord. His trumpet gathers the
ministry of Hell.
Huictiigara (Grimorium Verum). A subordinate spirit of Lucifer.
Occassions sleep and waking in some, and afflicts others with insomia.
Kimaris, Cimejes, Cimeies (Goetia, 66th spirit). Rules over all spirits
of Africa. A Marquis commanding 20 legions, appearing as a valiant
warrior on a black horse. Teaches grammar, logic, rhetoric. Discovers
things lost or hidden.
Kobal (?). Manager of the Infernal Theatre who tempts men to pretence
and fraud.
Lahash Once led 184 spirits to prevent the prayers of Moses from
reaching God, and was thus expelled from the presence.
Lilith (Aramaic). Mother of the Lilim and all Succubi, nocturnal sexual
vampire, mother of *Cain, first wife of Adam. The screech owl (Isiah
34:14). Whose cult spread from Palestine to Greece, where she merged
with Hekate. Originally a Babylonian goddess Lilitu, or Ardat-lilil.
Lucifer (Latin, Bringer of Light ). The rebel angel who was cast from
Heaven (Isiah 14:12). Certain Gnostic sects regard Lucifer as a divine
power in his own right, and the Witches recognise him as the Initiator
and bringer of Illumination. In Etruscan Gypsy lore he is the father of
Aradia and consort of Diana. It is this godform that became the Emperor
of Hell (Grimorium Verum). Roman god of the morning star (Venus).
Lucifuge (Latin, running from the light ). Servants of Lucifer who hunt
for souls to damn. They are the henchmen who come to collect when a
pact has been fulfilled, who tear the soul from the body with their sharp
beaks and talons.
Minos (Dante’s Inferno, Canto V). Who assigns the sinners to their
tortures. Has a long tail, which he wraps about himself.
Salmael This fallen one has a loathing for Israel and their Yahweh, and
calls for their destruction.
Sar & Salim (Syrian, sar means dawn). Gods of the morning and
evening stars. (Sar appears in Isaiah 14:12, and Jerusalem, Hebrew
jerusalijim, may mean the city of Salim). As Sari-el, originally an
archangel of Heaven, but was expelled due to his enthusiasm for the
Moon, gracefully retiring before he could be thrown out. Taught the
Canaanite priestesses the tides and courses of the Moon and its relevance
to sorcery.
Satan (Hebrew, adversary). Originally a Seraphim with twelve wings.
Of whom the book of Henoch tells of his rebellion and expulsion by
God, hurled by the angel Michael into the abyss. Identified as the
serpent in the garden of Eden, as ‘prosecutor’ before the Heavenly court
(Zechariah 3:1, Job 1:6, 2:7), seducer and tempter (1 Chronicles 21:1),
the embodiment of evil (Mark 4:15).
Seth (Hebrew, transgression). The third child of Adam and Eve, after
the desasterous relationship of Cain and Abel. A curious parallel exists
between the tale of the two brothers in Genesis, and the Mystery of Set
and Osiris.
Seth, Set, Setech, Sutech (Egypt). Who murders his brother Osiris, lord
of the desert, whose priests were all had red hair. Equated with Typhon
by the Greeks. A god of dark sorcery and homosexual mysteries,
equated with Satan.
Shax, Shan, Shaz, Shass (Goetia, 44th spirit). Marquis commanding 30
legions. Appears as a stock dove with a hoarse but subtle voice. Causes
blindness and deafness. Fetches horses or anything else, steals riches
from Kings, discovers things not hidden by evil spirits, sometimes gives
good familiars.
Shuck (Anglo-Saxon?). The East Anglian name for the Devil in the
form of a black dog, who is often seen roaming the countryside and is
commonly associated with Witchcraft. It is possible that the name has
its origins in the war dog of Tiw, who was known as the Shukr. It
appears in other areas of the country under various guises and names,
such as the Scucca, Striker, Padfoot, and the Barguest of northern
England. He is found at boundary lines, bridges, the crossroads, the sea
wall, graveyards, and other places ‘in between’.
Succor-Beloth (?). Who presides over the Devil’s Harem in Hell, and
tempts mortals to lechery.
Tunnels of Set The 22 Qlippothic paths of the dark side of the Tree of
Life, elaborated by Crowley and later by Kenneth Grant in Nightside of
Eden. Each is ruled by a Demonic Inteligence.
Verrier (?). Who tempts mortals to rebellion by making their necks too
stiff to bow down.
Xapham (?). Rebel Angel who suggested setting fire to Heaven during
the war, but was cast down too soon. Now fans the flames of the Pit.
Yama (Indo-Aryan). The first man to die, the prince of Hell, judge of
the dead. Clothed in red, with a noose to drag out the soul. May appear
in Tantric tradition as standing on a bull, which is screwing a human
woman.

PRAYER
On this day the Warlock may drink no wine, and will also
abstain from eating meat.
On Tuesday, at the break of day, let him place the feather,
taken from the bird, upon the altar together with a new knife.
The signs hereafter represented must be inscribed on a sheet of
Virgin Parchment or Paper with wine which is the Blood of
Jesus Christ:
They should be written upon the altar, and, at the end of the
sacrifice, the paper should be folded in a new veil of violet
silk, to be concealed on the morrow, together with the oblation
of the sacrifice and a part of the consecrated Host. On the
evening of Thursday the Warlock must rise at midnight and,
having sprinkled holy water about the chamber, he must light a
taper of yellow wax, which shall have been prepared on the
Wednesday and pressed in the form of a cross. When it is
lighted he shall then begin the Office of the Dead with great
veneration to the Living God. He shall recite Matins and
Lauds, but in place of the versicle of the ninth Lesson he shall
say:
“Deliver us, O Lord, from the fear of Hell. Let not the
demons destroy my soul when I shall raise them up from the
Deep Pit, when I shall command them to do my will. May the
day be bright, may the sun and moon shine forth, when I shall
call upon them, O, Lord, deliver me from those of dread
visage, and grant that they shall be obedient when I shall raise
them up from Hell, when I shall impose my will on them.”
After the Office of the Dead, the Warlock shall extinguish
the taper, and at sunrise shall cut the throat of a male lamb of
nine days old, taking great care that the blood does not gush
forth upon the earth.
He shall skin the lamb, and shall cast its tongue and heart
into the fire.
The fire must be freshly kindled, and the ashes shall be
preserved for use at the proper time. The skin of the lamb
shall be sprinkled four times every day with holy water.
On the tenth day, before the rising of the sun, the lambskin
shall be covered with the ashes of the heart and tongue, and
with the ashes also of the cock.
On Thursday, after sunset, the flesh of the lamb shall be
interred in a secret place where no bird of any kind can come,
and the Warlock with his right thumb shall inscribe on the
grave the characters here indicated;

Lastly, on the Eastern side, the skin must be set to dry in the
sun for three days, the ensuing characters must be set to dry in

NECROMANCY
When you wish to infuse a spirit into a dead person, so that he
appears alive as he was previously, this is the procedure to
follow. First have a ring made of gold. Around the outside
these names should be carved: Brimer, Suburith, Tranauit; on
the inside, these names: Lyroth, Beryen, Damayn. When the
names have been carved, on a Sunday before sunrise, go to
running water and place the ring in it, and let it remain there
for five days.
On the sixth day, take it out and take it to a tomb, and place
it inside, so that it remains there on Friday and Saturday. On
Sunday, before sunrise, go outside of town under a clear sky,
in a remote and secret place, and make a circle with a sword,
and on it write with the sword the names of the figures that
appear here. [The figure shown is a double circlular band with
a pentagram inscribed. The names carved on the ring are

When this has been inscribed, enter into it as is designated,
and place the sword beneath your knees, and, facing south,
recite this conjuration: “I conjure you, all the demons inscribed
on this ring”- which you should have in your hand- “by the
Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and by almighty God,
maker of Heaven and Earth… that all of you, constrained and
bound to my will and power, should proceed hither in benign
form, so that I will not fear, and should conscecrate this ring in
such a way that it may possess this power, namely that
whenever I place it on the finger of a dead person, one of you
will enter him, and he will appear alive as before, in the same

When you have said this once, six spirits will at once appear
at the circle, requesting the ring, which you will give them.
When you have given it, they will depart, and you likewise
should leave the circle, taking the sword with you, and not
destroying the circle.
On the sixth day, return with the sword, and say, facing
south, “I conjure you, O Brimer, Suburith, [etc.]… that you
should come to me now without delay, bearing the consecrated
ring, so that when I place it on the finger or in the hand of a
living person he will fall to the ground as if dead, and when I
take it away he will return to his former state, and when I place
it on a dead person, as aforesaid, a spirit will enter him and he
will appear alive as before…”
When you have said all this four times, first towards the
south, likewise towards the west, then towards the north and
towards the east, you will see towards the east someone
coming on horseback, who, when he arrives at the circle, will
say, “So-and-so” –naming the names written above- “send you
this consecrated ring, but they say they cannot come to you
because it is not fitting; you will experience [or test] the
power of the ring, and if it does not have the power that you
requested, they say they are prepared to come to you whenever
you wish.” You will take the ring, saying to him, “Thanks to
you and to them.” When you have said this, he will at once

Our source for this knowledge are the nineteen Enochian Keys,
provided below. Each is an incantation composed in this language,
evoking principles and powers which may be directed by the sorcerer.
These appear to have sound grammatical basis, with many words that
seem related to Hebrew, Arabic, and Latin. Whether divined or
constructed, their employment effectively appeals to some deeper part of

and self-illumination are Lucifer (called Azal’ucel), Set (The

Part One of Azothoz is “The Throne of Twilight”, this poetic
invocation is the Leviathanic Dance against the Sun and
ensorcells the Vampyric and Shadow essence of not only the
Sabbat, but the sorcerous invocation of Shaitan-Lilith-Azrael-
Ahriman, the Infernal Spirits who reside over the Path itself.
Part Two “The Lore of the Fallen” is a poetic-invocation of the
Cunning Path, that of the Sabbat and Sethanic Gnosis of
Lucifer and Cain, from which the Initiatic Fire is passed from
Spirit to Spirit. The Spirit-Familiar of Austin Osman Spare,
known as the Black Eagle is presented here as a guide by a
sinistral (left way) sigillic formula, including an invocation
chant and essay upon the shadow of this vampyric shade. Two
formulas of the Sun and the Moon are given, which is a
sigillized text of the Watchers of the Book of Enoch. The
Grimoire ends with an invocation of Set the Adversary.

Sabbat. The semblance of Cain and Baphomet are presented
in this tome, which is written in a poetic and lyrical form. Cain
is symbolized as the Blacksmith of the Forge, his craft is that
of sorcery, the fires of the forge that initiatory spark of being,
the Black Flame of Iblis itself. The Book of Cain is also a
grimoire which can be meditated upon in the focus of
Antinomian self-deification, the isolation of the Psyche. This
process of becoming is a process in the Luciferian and
Sabbatic Left Hand Path Guild in Houston, Texas. This leads
to an illumination of the Black Flame through the initiatory
model of Cain, the wanderer. This grimoire, containing two
direct invocations to Cain, is an interesting text for those
interested in the more shadowed and luciferian practices of
the Witchcraft (not Wicca). Illustrated by Elda Isela Ford, the
Book of Cain offers both initiatory challenge and a Luciferian
concept of positive self-focus. Those who may approach the
blackened fires of Cain should be cautious, for it destroys and
creates.

in elements of Chaos Sorcery, Sabbat – Witchcraft and
dream/astral practice. Many of the formulas of Left Hand Path
Sorcery may be found in Ford’s other publications, Nox

Hand Path is essentially Antinomian practice of self-isolation,
development and the strengthening of the psyche via self-

Antinomian Work with Angelic (meaning the Higher Facilities
of Man) and Demonic (representing carnal, earth based and
shadowed) spirits opens a doorway in the self – that which will
either empower the individual or destroy him or her
completely. Magick is a blessing and a curse depending on the
individual and should be approached cautiously.

presents systems of personal sorcery, in which through the
individual works through the Godforms of Ahriman and AZ.
Presented also are Goetic Evocation and Invocation formulas
of the Daevas (demons) and Druj (lie meaning illusion, sorcery
& Dragon – Snake – Vampyre). Completely re-illustrated by

materializes those Druj and Daemonic forces which have lied

To look into the possibilities of Models and how one may shape and assist in
self-transformation, it is imperative to study and understand the foundations of
the very Gods which emerge from us. Nightside or Shadowside as a term is
defined in Witches Sabbat and Luciferian1 terminology as averse dreaming
practice. In Islamic mythology and lore, Shaitan is the Lord of Rebellious
Spirits, a Djinn made of Fire. It is this fire2 which leads the individual towards
the wall looking down into the Abyss, and the infinite possibilities of being.
The sorcerer thus begins to adopt the God form of Shaitan to master the spirits
and Djinn of the self – all of those elements which command mastery of the
self.

Lucifer is found in the higher octave of the sphere of Saturn. This mighty
angel4 is a revealed source of black light, or intelligence/development/wisdom.
Lucifer is also a source of brilliance, a state of gnosis from which the sabbatic
practitioner emerges. It is in this highest Empyrean5 realms of which Light is
best experienced, the Air and Astral plane, from which all wind rushes about
you like a tornado, where flame and sun envelopes your being and your Astral
body is purified by flame.
The Path of spirit travel is a temporal process of self emerging from its skin to
ascend in the form of shadow, thus willed to manifest in a dreaming flesh. The
dreaming body is the form the psyche or ka takes in sleep, and that which flies
or goes forth to the Infernal Sabbat. In the context of Witchcraft and Sorcery,
the Western initiate of today holds a wealth of information to build from.
Idries Shah points out in THE SUFIS that the Spanish word for Witch is Bruja,
and are considered the children of wisdom. The History of Witchcraft and
Primal sorcery is bound within the Yatuivdah and Dregvants7 of Iran and
Persia, within the early Zoroastrian religion. The Middle Eastern cults and sects
of magical practice produced what we commonly call Magickal Paths today.
What was lost or well forgotten, by some incantation or spell of remembrance,
such surged forth as a Bestial Atavism – that which was dead now emerged as a
Necromantic shade. By the wealth of symbolism there is indeed much to
develop from – be ready to grasp that which was always slightly out of reach by
dream, that fleeting moment of truth not so lightly fallen before you.

There was a group of so-called witches which were known as the Aniza
Bedouin Clan. They were derived in leadership from a man known as Abu el-
Atahiyya (748-c. 828), who was originally a potter but became a strong and
influential writer and poet among fellow Arabs. Atahiyya had a coven or circle
of disciples who were called Wise Ones, and after his death adopted the Goat
as a symbol of their tribe. The torch or candle between the horns was added,
signifying wisdom from the head of the teacher. The Aniza tribe also had a
symbol of the wasm or tribal brand, which was a symbol which resembled a
birds foot. The clan was also known for their use of the Bloodletter8 which was
called the adhdhame, or Athame. In later times, the Aniza Tribe migrated to
Spain which brought some aspects of the Witch-cult to Europe.
In a Left Hand Path perspective, the initiate would seek to discover what is
essentially ‘real’ or tangible about his or her being, what they consider to differ
them from the natural order. Once this has been established in a basic sense,
the Antinomian or Luciferian vision of Rebellion is recognized and true
initiation begins.
In relation to Baphomet, one must retrace the beginnings of the Aniza Tribe,
which birthed the emergence of the imagery associated with the Horned Head
of Wisdom.
As related in The Sufis by Idries Shah, the Arabic root FEHM (charcoal) is
FHM, meaning ‘black’ or ‘wise’. This is recognizable and easily understood in
an initiatory sense from the Sufic phrase, “Dar tariki, tariqat” (In the
Darkness, the Path” and reflects the ideal of the Light or Wisdom coming from
the darkness. The Arabic root FHM is symbolic of Baphomet, meaning Head
of Wisdom. In the Knights Templar, Hugues de Payns (which translates ‘Of
the Pagan’) held a Coat of Arms which had Three Saracen Heads, which
resembled severed heads, indicating Wisdom.

It is also the Sufis who move against the Sun9 which brought such practice to
the West. In the Yatus cult, the darkness must be observed, absorbed and the
initiate must be made to move against the path of the natural order. This by
means within itself, brings experience from a vague concept of mystery, that
flesh which emerges in the heart of the adept. The Sorcerer and Witch are as
the Sorcerous Daemon Ahriman themselves, they stand in both darkness and
light, being Lords of both horizons.
In Sufism Shaitan was the single angel, who by antinomian acts separated
himself against the natural order by refusing to bow before clay which was
Adam. It was the Yezidi tribe, who venerated Shaitan in the form of Malak
Tauus, the Peacock Angel. In the MESHAF RESH10 it presents Azazel as the
Angel created before all others, thus the brightest star. In the Jilwa, Lucifer is
presented as “Malak Tauus existed before all other creatures and was then and
Now….there is no place devoid of me” thus presenting the Unnatural concept
of self-illumination and intellect, Lucifer is the Adversary, who is full of life.
The Egyptian God Set11 is a model and Neter12 for Self-Deification, Isolation
and the Adversary. The Adversary or Opposer is the shadow which reveals
Light, called The Black Light of Iblis or Shaitan. This Light is inspired intellect
and creative imagination. Set represents self-imposed challenge and individual
development, a tester of self. An Adept uses this model for self-control and a
Becoming through the Left Hand Path approach of the Adversary, the
Antichrist which awakens the pscyhe in both Light and Darkness.
Set is noted for being a God which was different from all other Egyptian Gods.
He was the Neter over storms, chaos and the darkness. Set, being a God of the
North, was a sender of nightmares who was identical to the Greek daemon
Typhon. Set was viewed as a God of such dangerous and desolate places of the
earth, but at the same time was a friend to the dead. The form of Set was that
of a man with the head of an Ass, or an elongated snout with Red hair. Red
was traditionally the color of Set, Lucy Lamie13 held the connection that Set-
Typhon was a God form which burns and consumes, he is a Lord of the

Desert. The fire concept would not be new to this deity, as Set was essentially
Shaitan the Opposer/Adversary.
The Egyptian God Seker is also a God form which the sorcerer may visualize
and use as a Mask of Dreaming14. Seker is an ancient Death-god, who was
considered older than Osiris and who resided around the city of Memphis.
Seker resided in the tomb and the complete darkness. Around his lands were
winged serpents, demonic spirits and dragon like beings with three heads. Seker
was often featured as a mummified man who had a mask of a predatory Hawk,
who sat on a throne of abyssic shadow. In the story of Af Ra meeting Seker15 in
Ra-stau where he sits in the Kingdom of Death, as Death itself. It makes
reference to Seker sitting in Majesty, with serpents and demonic spirits
surround him. In the Book of the Dead Seker is made reference to as being
‘great god who carrieth away the soul, who eateth hearts, and who feedeth
upon offal, the guardian of darkness, the god who is in the Seker boat”. This
draws a comparison to the Persian-Iranian Ahriman, who was also an
Opposing Sorcerous Daemon of Darkness, who by averse practices, became
stronger and immortal. Set had legions of ‘devils’ called “Seba” who served the
Prince of Darkness, and were known to hack and devour certain souls.
In a modern initiatory context, the magician understands the these God forms
represent isolate intellect, and self-deification through antinomian acts.
Set and Seker have an interesting connection. In the XVIIth Chapter of the
Book of the Dead the spirit of the deceased prays that he is kept from the
Great God who devour the heart and soul, who is the Guardian of Darkness.
This is revealed by E.A. Wallis Budge that this God is none other than Suti
(SET). Set was the tester of the dead in this capacity, and Set tested the spirit by
it’s own admission of transformation from life to death and finally, to the
psyche becoming immortal. If this test failed, Set in the form of Seker,
devoured the soul. Later on Seker was merged with Ptah, a Blacksmith God16
and took the form of a mummy with a visage of an old man.

When one approaches the ancient masks of Set, Seker or the Persian Druj of
the Yatuk-Dinoih understand that by diving in the Black Sun, becoming as a
God in the Darkness is but the first part of crossing the abyss.
The focus and intent of this ritual is the application of an ancient form of
sorcery known as Yatuk Dinoih17. The functional practice is defined as the
body of the summoner encircling/ensorceling the nightmare (called Kundak –
the steed of wizards) and shadow aspects of the self. This rite is also one of the
tests, that the forces of darkness embody through the practitioner and allows
the isolated self-deification of the sorcerer. The very embodiment of the path.
Let the ritual be performed in a solitary place where the profane may not cast
their eyes. One may seek also a place appeasing to the senses, preferably in a
cemetery or crossroads. The Ritual of Adversarial Shadow is the Summoning of
Ahrimanic spirits. As known, Ahriman appears in many forms throughout
history, a consistent shape shifter. Be it toads, wolves or dragons/serpents,
Ahriman is the Wizard in spirit – one who masters time by the dream and the
twilight world made flesh by desire.
As I face the Star of Al ghul the two horns become one. I cast the
circle as Kabed-us-spae, that within is the circumference of my
divinity. By the star of Algol I bask in the brilliance of the Sun at
Midnight, the Eye of Blackened Flame and Smoke, of Arimanius,

dire initiator of my night and infernal dreaming path. May the Eye
open within…

the kingdom of shades, specter and phantom, praise unto our
kingdom of dead matter and flesh.
Praise unto Ahriman, who created Andar from the smoke of the
blackened flame, who in averse brilliance was both phantom and dire
foulness, praise unto Ahriman, who joined in union with the
Whore-Vampyre AZ, whose body is Ruha and Jeh, devour with
your lips open wide, satisfy me in the dreamining flight, drop the
blood of ecstasy from your devouring jaws…
Praise unto Ahriman, who created Azi-Dahaka, called Zohak the
King Made Daemon! Who by dreams shall guide me into the dire
mansion of shades and thorn covered thrones!
Ohrmazd sought to free all limitations, yet space could not recount
Ahriman. It was shadow and darkness, nourished in the abyss, with
the violet light of the Black Sun, called Al Ghul, the point of all
hunger known as AZ, the crowning of the Beast. This night, as
candle burns and my vessel of darkness is prepared, shall I go forth
to the gathering of our spirits – thou Yatus and wondering demon –
kin of mine. Druj, descend, I shall become as dragon of flesh and
seed, fire, smoke and soul. Come forth now!

Sorcery has gone through an awakening in the past 30 years which allows for new
experimentations and developments. The significance in the last 30 years is the
beginnings and critical stage of what became Wicca and Witchcraft. The systems
originally intend produced an exciting aspect to Magick and Sorcery can be, explorative
and in many ways continually innovative. The work of The Order of Phosphorus as
within the The Witches Sabbat Current deals with the direct linage of spiritual
communion by each individual who seeks. Thus, the only hereditary aspects are only
conceptual in their need. One must not be a hereditary or linage based Witch to proceed
with the Great Work. This is significant only as an added bonus. The individual must
however, have the inner drive and calling to the blood, the vein of the Witch Moon which
feeds our dreams of Witches Sabbat communion.
The Witches Sabbat Gnosis is achieved by the desire to dive the depths of the heart and
soul. Considering the approach to Luciferian Witchcraft or Cunning Craft, the individual
desire to advance through the avenues of the art of magick and sorcery is reflective of the
Luciferian ideal of knowledge becoming wisdom, and the transference therein. This
would exude a historical linage in the spirit of each individual, regardless of family linage
and heritage. Birthright does make the king, but it does not make the magician. A Will to
achieve, ambition and the desire and drive make the advancing sorcerer, and through
actually practicing the art of Magick and Witchcraft will the grand awakening occur.
Lucifer is the light bringer of humanity; he is the spirit force of fire and light. Lucifer
would be considered the same as the Thelemic Aiwass, the spirit of the 93 current that
brings love and positive self-growth through Magick. The word Magick itself is defined
as ‘Ascending’. Lucifer is Prometheus, the one who brought the fire of imagination to
mankind. Lucifer is known in the Witches Sabbat Covens as the Egyptian god Set, the
Lord of Storms and Chaos and the Bearer of the Black Flame. Thus, Lucifer revealed, is
the initiator by fire and the creator of the Left Hand Path.
Lucifer, as being the shadow form of our imagination, thus Shaitan the Adversary, gives
us the ability to open the gates of self-initiation through the Witches Sabbat mysteries.

We are required to have the individual love of self, strength and determination to pass
through the long winding path of the sorcerer. Our goal is to become and achieve through
the process of self-deification and self-transformation through this Luciferian Gnosis.
Shaitan, as it is called is Lucifer the fallen angel. Lucifer fell from his desire to be
separate from the consciousness of the universe, that through Antinomianism he sought
to be the gateway of God itself, to be growing and illuminated in essence. It should be
considered that Satan or Lucifer are aspects of the domineering self expresses its
existence, and that is should be strengthened and defined to search the possibility of
immortality.
One upon the path of Iblis (spelled also Eblis), or Shaitan who was Ayn al-Qozat
Hamadani executed in 1131 A.D. bravely announced his path of illumination, which
spoke of the Black Light above the Throne as the Western idea of the Sun at Midnight or
Black Sun. This may be revealed within the Witches Sabbat path as The Black Flame, or
illuminated Luciferian Sense of Self. It is the beautiful presentation of ones own being,
and that we may grow and emerge from it into infinite possibility. Shaitan, Satan or
Lucifer is considered the Guardian of the Threshold, the gateway to the space between
worlds, known as the Twilight or in-between of the Nightside and Dayside. Through this

gateway may we draw the immortal elixir of spiritual awakening and magickal gnosis
through sorcery.
The process of self-transformation within the Witches Sabbat Gnosis is the night-hunt
and dream conclave known as The Witches Sabbath, the meeting of the souls of
magickians at the crossroads, an area of which is universal in spirit meetings, from the
Pathal Craft to the Luciferian Witches Sabbat Path to systems of Voodoo and Palo
Mayombe. The Sabbat itself is a western approach to the Middle Eastern cult of Shaitan
and those of the Yatukan1 practices. Shaitan is the fire-djinn whom, unlike other angels
created of light, was created from flame. It was this energy, essence of spirit that who is
known as Lucifer shone brightly above all others. He held the light of the Sabbat to those
who would whisper the oaths in the dawn. Shaitan the Opposer is the gateway of the
current of magical initiation, thus holding the double aspects of light and shadow. It is
through the union of such that one becomes as Shaitan or Lucifer itself.
The Witches Sabbat itself emerged from the dreams of the profane, those who knew not
the ways of the Cunning folk and their work. It was because of the times of persecution
that many kept their art secret, working and weaving their webs of sorcery and magickal
illumination unseen by outside folk. The Sabbat is the meeting place of the Feri,
Lycanthrope, Vampire and the sorcerer’s shades which act as familiars. It is the great
manifestation of the hidden law, and that we may, by imagination, become Lucifer in our
self. It is through the chalice of Lilith, revealed as Babalon, that we seek the union of the
Goddess.
The Witches Sabbath has long been a misunderstood and often misrepresented expression
of Magickal Art. It should be considered that the Witches Sabbat Cult is an expression of
not only Folk Magic and Lore, but that of a modern synthesis of advanced ideals of
sorcery, psychology and psychic development. The Witches Sabbath has long been held
in arcane lore as the dream – meeting of the Astrals and Spirits of Magickal Practitioners
of the Craft, those who between the Twilight of Dawn and Dusk dive the dream waking
environment and meet as spirits and other forms to gather under the Black Sun, or under
the arms of Luna, awaiting the embrace of Lilith and Hecate, the Queens of the Sabbath.
It is through the Witches Sabbat Circles that the Watchers and Fallen Angels brought to
us the gift of what is called Witchblood, the Black Flame of Awakening that offered an
awakening of senses. Each angel still exists in spirit form upon the earth, allowing a
linage to emerge from different areas of psychic and physical development.
The essence of Witchcraft should be explored within its dream – based roots, the touch of
Witches Sabbat initiation. As the Angels brought us the lore of the wise in the early
times, so we must continue to change and progress such ideas into new ways and
techniques. Sorcery is efficient as a manner of implicating your immediate surroundings.
This involves the specific use of Lesser and Greater Black Magick in of its aspects –
healing, cursing, astral projection, love spells and more are essential yet undefined in
their approach of performance. This alone is up to the witch who develops his/her system

based on personal and individual preference. The use of this type of sorcery is not enough
in itself, it demands the Will to control the results to some extent and to make intelligent
decisions about what could be the future. Remember, you control a majority of your
future.
The leaving of ones spirit to fly in the night as any ancestral form such as Bat, Owl, Wolf
or human form allows the shadow or soul (called BA in Egyptian systems) to nourish
from the sleepers and achieve a hidden knowledge transmitted only by the path of the
unseen. It is from this that we awake, and to be understood clearly, advance us in the
image of the Prince of Darkness whom is ultimately revealed as the Lord of Light.
Upon the great meeting of Lilith, the Witch Queen of the Sabbat, shall the woman
emerge as the model for the Goddess to manifest in the earth. Therefore shall the woman
dress, think and align herself with this positive and balanced image of death and life, that
through the Witchcraft shall she set herself up as Queen and mistress of the Beast 666,
whom is the solar force of creation and joy. The Woman is highly respected in the
Witches Sabbat Path, as she is the beauty, life and joy of the feminine which is beheld in
us all. It is through her womb that the night transfers knowledge and one must seek to
continually manifest this through the individual, being male or female. The Sabbat is the
manifestation of the Witch Queen in all of her aspects, thus she is deadly and protective
at the same time.
The Sabbat is paralleled in Morocco by the ancient meeting of spirits called the Zabbat,
translating “The Forceful or Powerful One”, and those who attended this occasion are
called Kafan, meaning “The Winding Sheet”, from which is worn by the participants and
may only be white. The choice of white is representative of the very sheet they will be
buried in. In these gatherings, the sorcerers themselves chanted the Moslem prayers
backwards, invoking al aswad (known as The Black One) and marked themselves with
the ritual knife called the Al-dhamme’ which means bloodletter.
The ritual itself moved on with the sorcerers dancing to the chant of Iwwaiy, which they
moved widdershins around which brought ecstasy and the winding sheets covered them.
They used the Al-dhamme to sacrifice a rooster by cutting its throat, then marking
themselves with a small cut. The ceremony would sometimes begin again by dancing and
religious ecstasy. The Rabbana (their Lord) is considered close to the Blacksmith. The
Blacksmith, within the European craft itself is the symbol of Tubal Cain, the first of the
Witch Blood.
Tubal-Qayin2 as it is sometimes spelled is the blacksmith whose forge is the heart of the
Witches Sabbat Craft. The child of Asmodeus (called often Samael) and Lilith, is
considered the bringer of Gnosis to humanity. Other legends give Tubal Cain as the child
of Samael and Eve, and that in congress the dragon “spit filth into her” and bore Cain.
Tubal Cain was demonized as the brother who killed Abel, his so-called brother. It was
Cain, within the region of the Middle East, sparked the forge which brought the initiation
given to man by Shaitan the Opposer, or in a modern context, Lucifer.

The history of the Witches Sabbat Path is one of shadowed presence. Such a witchcraft
linage speaks through the blood and dreams of those whom with an open mind, invite it
in and seek to absorb its essence.
Consider the egregore of Luciferian Spirits, those that speak to us through dreams and
conclaves on the astral plane. Essentially, we are they and once we have learned the
techniques of mental freedom, are then we able to be truly alive! The spirit, which may
be separated during sleep through dream magick, allows the soul to shape shift into any
desire it seeks be it animal, shadow, demon – it is up to the imagination and desire of the
individual. This would present the Vampiric aspect of the craft, when the Nightside
waking dreamer transforms the dream body and those of his/her familiar into the night
owl, go forth to feed quietly from the profane sleeper.
The Ritual of Going forth by Night announces the separation of the spirit from the flesh,
thus the Witches Sabbat is the supreme Luciferian awakening, and it is when we become
just as Lucifer, who is the spirit of the air whom resides upon the astral plane. Below
Lucifer is the puzzle of the Black One, being Baphomet. Baphomet, being the God form
of Sorcerers and Magickians of Chaos and Witches Sabbat currents, is the Model of
Union. Consider Lilith, the Witch Queen of the Sabbat and of Lillitu, the Succubus and
vampire phantoms and Samael, the Fire Djinn which is considered the same as
Asmodeus, their Infernal union is the manifestation and birth of Baphomet. Thus the
Horned One brings the wisdom of the Earth (Asmodeus-Samael) and the Spirit (Lilith),
thus Baphomet is the initiator of becoming and self-deification. The magician must be
implored to work accordingly, and without fail, for the manifestation of his and her own
Alphabet of Desire, which is, the communication method with the subconscious. The
Alphabet of Desire as it is called was developed by Austin Osman Spare and was first
published in The Book of Pleasure, being a grimoire of excellent repose through the
Great Work.
The works of Austin Osman Spare (1886-1956) was an artist who talents of
draftsmanship allowed direct expression of his developed gnosis of sorcery. Spare’s early
drawings were founded on the belief of exploring the self, known as the Zos and Kia
Austin’s system of exploring the self by delving the depths of the mind is best described
by his art alone. The writings of Spare, while being confusing and cryptic, were very
poetic and strong. Yet, in the face of his art were under matched, quite simply, the man
was a genius!
Spare developed an arcane letter system called “The alphabet of desire” which contained
the structure for contact with the subconscious. This aspect of Black Magick, allowed the
individual to tap the latent powers of the mind and make such work for him or her. The
letter itself should be developed by each individual initiate for his/her own Alphabet of
Desire, this is where the connection and development of Witches Sabbat emerges.
Witchcraft itself, was silently expanded upon by Spare in his later years. It is known that
he had many dream experiences which allowed him to attend the Witches Sabbath, as

well as communicate with many of the attendants. Zos vel Thanatos (aka. Austin Spare)
created numerous glyphs and sigils based on the astral conclave, even writing texts which
included a full invocation of the Sabbath.
The Witches Sabbat path should be absorbed by the fledgling student, from which as the
individual develops may bring forth more tangible and practical ideas to the craft itself.

The Order of Phosphorus is one group formed in America by Coven Nachttoter, which
seeks to develop the Witches Sabbat/Luciferian Path based around the various aspects of
magickal systems which have proven to work, thus enabling the student with a force of
fire and strength of spirit! Utilizing many Left Hand Path techniques and modern
grimoire formats of transmitting lore of the Daemon, is finally the Luciferian Path
available to all who hold the strength of the illuminated soul!
It is essential that the independent practitioner of the craft, or the Coven initate is able to
bring forth the mind set which activates the individual path to Shaitan, the embrace of the
Opposer and the Union of Lilith. It is through these ceremonial and dreaming aspects of
uniting the Dayside with the Nightside that the practitioner is able to achieve Gnosis. The
individual is initiated by the Mothering/Fathering Coven to receive the power of the
Current into their body, that born again in the Luciferian Path, will they be the first of the
Witch Blood yet again.
One aspect of Witches Sabbat teaching is the ability for the student to make a certain
contact with Ancestral Shades and spirits. The aspects of Hermetic Occultism are present
here, from which the Egyptian systems of Typhonian Magick are awakened. The
Ancestral Shades are the spirits of ones past, those familiars that shall manifest the
current of initiation further to the dreaming body of witch. One may wish to obtain an old
statue or object which may hold a key to the gnosis, something which the individual shall
attribute this force unto. Some may use the Anubis inspired skull of one passed, or the
bones and skull of the coyote or such an animal. From this, shall the sigil created by the
sorcerer be placed and consecrated within the object.
The Sorcerer will then be able to create familiars and great shades which shall protect his
or her own body while the sleep, bound by ngangas, or vessels of the spirit, shall then the
arte begin to flourish in their own life. These servitors are the spirits or elementals which
assist us in magical work, and act as guides for the great shades of awakening. The
primary goal of the Witch or Sorcerer is to separate the spirit from flesh and control the
mind on many levels, it is the seat of our immortal possibility of Astral Independence.
One chant of initiation is meant to be practiced by the solitary witch who seeks the Light
of Lucifer, from which she or he shall invoke under the stars in the wood of their
heritage, or the Temple consecrated to the Great Work.

Saturn itself is the lower octave of which initiation is led, and through this planetary
symbol may the practitioner emerge through the dual gnosis of Lucifer and Shaitan, the
gateways of becoming upon the path.
The Order of Phosphorus is founded upon the techniques taught through the lore of
Witches Sabbat, the lore and legend of the old transferred into magickal technique. The
common history of the gnosis is labeled Luciferian as it was indeed Lucifer and Azazel
who brought the Black Flame to humanity, enabled it to rise above the mongoloid putty
of our ancestors and become something beautiful. Witchcraft was a natural tool, taught
by Luciferic angels known as the Watchers, and their Cain – inspired brethren known as
the Nephilim. This is the lore of the Nightside, from which legend becomes desire which
takes flesh.
The very beginnings of Witchcraft hold much lore and legend as any other religion or
socio-formulated belief pattern. In the beginning within the great darkness, Diana (Lilith-
the Moon) joined with Lucifer (the Sun) and produced the daughter and goddess Aradia,
or by some suggestion Hecate. The Watchers led by Azazel, after Lucifer fell from the
heavens joined with man’s daughters and produced the Nephilim. The Watchers then
taught man and woman the art of sorcery, and what is now called witchcraft. Asmodeus,
also called Samael joined in union with Lilith to bear the son Tubal-Cain. Cain was a
carrier and the first in the circle of Witchblood, initiated by birth and whose memory of
the Watchers and the Nephilim was strong.
The legends of the Watchers and Nephilim move on to describe the great flood, which
killed many of them. While their bodies died, their spirits did not, and certain spirits of
the Watchers still walk the earth inspiring the lore of the wise, from the shadows of the
dead.
The Shadow – World of the Magickian is shrouded in arcane wisdom and infernal
teachings, all the while embracing the light of the Morning Star and the Sun rising within.
The actual practice of Magick demands patience and the Will to continue, for the many
challenges of such a path are meant to weed the strong from the weak. What should be
considered in some aspects is the fact that we as humans have developed over thousands
of years, still regaining in the depths of our mind the great Serpents that dwelled, the
wolves that devoured their prey and the pulse of nature in general. We are of nature, thus
a great bond should be developed therein.
The Luciferian and Sethanic Sorcerous Guild in America is generally hidden from public
site, allowing those who work through such circles to build the Magickal Art through
practice and discipline. Those who enter the gates of Witchcraft will automatically view
the very Gate of the Left Hand Path. Very few will enter this infernal tread, as it brings

one to the ultimate personal power of self-deification. Many are not able to understand
this state of being, the ascent to become God or Goddess, thus either failing and loosing
their mind in the Witches Sabbat Circles of Time or renouncing to a much kinder garden
path.
The Witches Sabbat of the Order of Phosphorus respects ALL paths that lead to human
advancement and knowledge, including those of the white light persuasion. We consider
that every individual has the right to believe and practice what he or she Wills, unless it
harms another unjustifiably. The Order of Phosphorus is against Bigotry and Racism,
considering such as the filth of non-human advancement.
avenues can an effective path be built and expanded upon by each individual, allow
interpretation to mold through each witch or sorcerer seeking the path.
The symbol of the Devil within the Dark Witches Sabbat Path is symbolic of
transformation within each individual, which appears at first glance, dark and foreboding
yet essentially allows a great light of wisdom and power to be revealed. This is the Black
Flame, the knowledge of self-consciousness and the process of becoming something
greater. The Devil or Shaitan as it is called is a part of the gnosis of Luciferian self-
liberation and awakening.
The Devil is essentially, humanity’s darkside, the very essence of infernal teachings that
reveal Man and Woman as holding their own infinite potential. The light of knowledge
which depicts Good and Evil is a great wisdom few may handle responsibly, it allows one
to create and destroy.
The Devil is defined as the personification of Evil, or the inverse ideology of whatever
moralistic system is popular at the time. The word devil derives from the Greek Diabolos,
which originally meant accuser. The word Demon is derived from Daimon, meaning a
guardian spirit. A demon in modern context (according to TOPH) is a spirit or
intelligence which can be related to ones Evil Genius, or hidden self, or the Holy
Guardian Angel, which is a perfected manifestation of the self in anthropomorphic form.
The Devil would not lead us to death and fire, but to life, creation, pleasure, ecstasy and
wisdom.
Lucifer has been described within a Witches Sabbat context before, specifically as the
husband of Diana from the legend originating from Italian folklore. Lucifer (the Sun) was
the husband of Diana (the Moon); the two were joined in a great union of opposites. It is
the development of the individual towards a partial solitary path which opens each aspect
of initiation towards the advancement of the human spirit. This means positive evolution,
discipline, understanding and mental strength is the building blocks of understanding.
Wisdom is the point of conscious understanding that is essential for the practice and life
work of the craft of the wise. One may find considerable study in the four elements as
described by Robert Cochrane of the Clan of Tubal Cain. As is within all Luciferian
paths, the significance of individual study and obtainment of knowledge is paramount.
The answers to all things, according to Robert Cochrane are in the Air – inspiration
which is brought on the winds shall give the gift of answers to the many questions you
may seek. The trees will bring power and the Sea will bring patience, for as Cochrane
wrote, the Sea is the womb which contains the memory of all things.
You essentially will be brought to listen to the elements, observe and learn. The one who
brings the mind in tune with his or her surroundings is better adapted to work Magick and
achieve the gnosis of which he/she seeks after. This is primarily an individual process

and involves a large amount of personal dedication. The results, or treasure of the work is
rewarded to those who essentially step through the veil of waking into dreaming and
emerge upon the hill of the Sabbat, encompassing the circle of the Witchblood whom
have offered unto Asmodeus, the waking lord of the Sabbath.
The Order of Phosphorus, being a Luciferian group focused on solitary, ceremonial and
individual growth through one discovering his/her own foundation of magickal practice
recognizes the importance of the Witches Sabbat lineage that is present within some of
its initiates. It is very much like a call of the blood, it whispers on the webs of dreams
from which you are slowly lifted up to the Stag, naked and awake through the eyes of
Lilith and Asmodeus.
The Awakening and Dedication chant which should performed by candlelight – indoors
or out. If outdoors, cast your circle in flour, which is a form used by witches of old. The
use of flour is also used by various voodoo systems including Palo Mayombe. Upon the
creation of the Daemon servitor Zarabanda one consecrates the area of the nganga or
spirit pot with the sigil of this spirit traced in flour on the floor. This activates the area of
neither-neither from which the sorcerer walks between the worlds of dream (Nightside)
and waking (Dayside).

Much of the doctrine of The Order of Phosphorus flows from the grimoires The Book of
the Witch Moon, Yatuk Dinoih, Azothoz, Nox Umbra, Shades of Algol, The Goetic
Grimoire, The Book of Cain, The Toad Rite and outer materials from the Fraternitas
Saturni and other elements which unites the Witches Sabbat craft with the dark and
shadow elements of sorcery and magick. Written by Michael Ford, the Book of the Witch
Moon and Yatuk Dinoih are considered dangerous tomes of Sorcery which both offer a
direct gnosis for the individual, while considering they are of stable mind. Another
avenue of doctrine if you will is based on Luciferian Magick, which is the modeling of

The Witches Sabbat mysteries as they are essential separated into two specific areas of
workings. The Right side of the Path is the Magickal path that is the Holy aspects of ones
personal development. He/She will seek to expand consciousness and gain the attainment
of his/her Holy Guardian Angel, the True Will or direction of life in which you shall
journey. This is also the path of healing, of perfecting the self in any way you can and to
begin a strong foundation in Luciferian Magick (Astral Projection and development of
the psyche). The Right Hand Path seeks to align the individual with the flowing stream of
nature, to align the self with the avenue of God or the creative force itself. This form may
be defined or named as Lucifer, as the eldest angel of the creative source who has
journeyed through both paths.
The Left side of the path is that of Sorcery/Witchcraft and the mysteries of Astral
Vampirism. This is the area of which the individual who seek the control of the self and
the exterior through sorcery and Goetic Black Magick, more properly, the Left Hand
Path. The LHP is defined as a system that is relative, and realistic towards the inner or
deep desire within humans to be free, independent and strong. To seek knowledge,
wisdom and areas of personal growth and betterment is the great desire of humanity
itself. This is why essentially the Left Hand Path is the foundation for human
advancement, as it teaches us to become like Lucifer or Lilith itself, independent,
knowledge seeking and self-deified. The Black Magickian often called Witch or Warlock
are the individuals who taste from the chalice of the serpent, the wisdom of Asmodeus.
The universe seeks for all to flow according to its way, from which we work through in
order to ultimately emerge through the Left Hand Path.
Before one provides the vehicle of material and spiritual union, the announcement of the
path to nature itself should be observed. The initiate should go forth into the woods in the
dawn, remove all clothes the cover his or herself in the mud and green of the earth and
meditate. The Green Man and Goddess themselves shall make their awakening to the
Witch, with whom has communed with nature. By being robed in the Sky of the Goddess,
Nuit, shall great beauty be revealed. It is by this simple yet important act which will lead
one to the initiation of Belial, or mastery of the earth. Belial is itself, the fallen angel who
masters the beasts of the world, the mountains and the forests along with Azazel. It is
though this exercise of invoking the Green Man or Green Woman, that one may proceed
later to darker areas of bestial exploration, such as Lycanthropy and spiritual
transformations of mind above flesh. The union of both brings the announcement of our
becoming in the world of Manes and Shades of the Dead.
The Daemonic aspects of the Witches Sabbat Path are quite real, however once one
evokes and invokes the spirit of these dark lords shall they be revealed as positive. The
Christian inversion of Pagan gods is only visible on the surface, thus beyond separation
from God to Daemon is one in the same. We are both the Garden of Pleasure and the
Catacombs of the Dead and their Necromantical desire.

The Grand Circle of Magickal awakening is The Triple Hermetic Circle, developed from
Hamara’t. This circle, traced by each initiate and give the proper names from which shall
manifest the power through he or she, is the secret which is not a secret, hidden from
those who should not see. The circle is thus the grand awakening.
The cult of Sethian Magick is based within the Luciferian concepts of dual gnosis
awakening, which the individual realizes his or her own imagination is the cradle of Seth
or Set itself, and that the Prince of Darkness speaks through each of us as we become.
The Witches Sabbat Path itself is one of turns and mystery revealed, from which in the
circle of the dead (Hermetic Circle of Hamara’t) should we manifest the Witches Sabbat
Gnosis in a clear and positive way.
The Triple Hermetic Circle of Hamara’t is one of diving the black mirrors of the mind,
from which our source and end are contained therein. It is through these mirrors, which if
aligned correctly through initiation, will allow the reflection to move on indefinitely.
Thus immortality of the psyche is possible. One must be focused and move through the
mental barriers from which society has bred through us.
Hermetic Occultism within the Witches Sabbat is perhaps one of the most significant
developments of this magickal art. Before Gerald Gardner reinvented Witchcraft as

Wicca in the 60’s on, there were in fact many groups practicing Egyptian Magick and
Ceremonial workings, later on it was to be woven into the craft as it first was considered.
Charles Pace, who was for a time a High Priest of one of Gerald Gardner’s Wiccan
Covens in South London. It was Pace whose magickal name is Hamara’t who developed
a very challenging system of Luciferian Witchcraft from which he lectured at many
Covens throughout England. His lectures were on his Luciferian Cult of Masks and
Egyptian Magick in a time when Wicca was being formulated. Had Mr. Pace been able to
get his material available more, Wicca might not have become as unchallenging as it
appears today.
Based off of two manuscripts, Necrominon and The Book of Tahuti, Hamara’t produced
much material on the Luciferian Gnosis, dealing with the tarot and High Ceremonial Sex
Magick with a ritual called Ankh-Ka. Mr. Pace was from the 1960’s a priest of Set and
Anubis, and in such a fitting manner, was a Mortuary technician. While the Triple
Hermetic Circle used by Coven Nachttoter/The Order of Phosphorus differs from the
original, the foundation is in itself similar if not the same.
The Triple Hermetic Circle is presented here anew, that the student makes use this by
daring to do so. The reworked version is attributed to the four elements as follows:
While pathal attributions are based on the elements in a different manner, this Hermetic
version in the directions and elements were first developed by Hamara’t however the God
forms were developed through The Order of Phosphorus. One may develop their own
circle based on the pathal elements within a Left Hand Path manner as the following for
an example.
While the alternate version may be used for many Witches Sabbat callings and works of
Lesser or Greater Black Magick, the suggested use of the Triple Hermetic Circle of the
different representations and Egyptian God forms are highly suggested for a development
of association. Once one is able to move through these well balanced aspects, may the

The circle surrounding the Hexagram within the circle is significant in the words of
power used. Ahkh-Ka-Djed which is derived from Charles Pace. Ahkh/Akhu is Ba and
Ka in union and the symbol of immortality, or life. Ka is the Holy Guardian Angel or
higher familiar, the solar force or True Will that guides our movement and direction
towards our infinite possibility. Djed is the Holy Union with the Dead, the spine or
backbone, the supporting base. These words in union represent the Great Work and

infinite possibility of the Magickian. The individual is no longer bound by the dogmatic
definitions of the forefathers, Black or White Magick, Black Brothers; all of this in itself
means nothing. Either you ARE on the path of your True Will or developing it, or you are
not. The concepts of good and evil are only relative within the self and the psychological
make up of the individual. Seek to master, control and move on.
You may use this circle for any rituals you wish, such as Ceremonial or Solitary
workings. Rituals of Chaos and Summoning may be done within this circle, and the
Grand Witches Sabbat Circle may be used as the circle to perform both The Bornless or
Headless One ritual and Congress cum Daemone or the Ritual of the Evil Genius. It is the
dual gnosis of Light (Headless One, the Air aspect of Lucifer) and Darkness (Set, the Evil
Genius or Isolated, Separate Psyche which is Earth based).

The Triple Hermetic Circle is a foundation of the darker Luciferian aspects of Black
Magick, thus the God forms are indeed different. The purposes may remain the same in
regards to their use.
The Triple Hermetic Circle is designed for High or Holy Magick, being the ceremonial
aspects of one seeking to illuminate the self in the light of Phosphorus, which one

becomes as the force of fire and light. Holy Magick is not opposed to Greater of Lesser
Black Magick, the difference is small however essential. Holy Magick is the core of what
the definition of Magick is, to Ascend. In workings of Holy Magick one seeks to ascend
through spheres of light, to open the consciousness to higher octaves of inspiration and
initiation. You essentially ‘step outside’ the concept of self to study it, and in invocation,
commanding Gods, spirits and other forms to comprehend association within the mind.
Holy Magick itself is essential for any Witches Sabbat Luciferian or any magickian; this
will strengthen through discipline the individual for the difficult and challenging path of
Greater Black Magick.
As Holy Magick is described as Ascending and stepping outside the concept of self
toward the light of Godhead, Greater Black Magick is the challenge of the self. To isolate
the consciousness from moving with the laws of nature, which is called Antinomianism,
the individual seeks to reach areas of Self-Deification. This means essentially that the
individual isolates the self to build him or herself as a God, to become something better.
This proves challenging because many in this society, are designed at an early age to be
the exact opposite which is to submit to a concept of God. Greater Black Magick
demands that you devour those gods and make your consciousness the arena for their
manifestation according to your Will. It is therefore, very dangerous to open gateways of
evocation (to summon outside the body) and invocation (to call inside the body or mind)
of any force, as the Black Magickian seeks to absorb and bring initiations into the psyche
to build the individual as a being separate from the universe. The teachings of Astral
Vampirism within the Black Order of the Dragon delve the depths of these concepts
further.
One would use the Dark Gods as models of strength and a symbol of immortal
manifestation. The Shadow form of Lucifer is Set, who is the ancient Prince of Darkness.
Set is the aspect of the infernal yet not self-destructive. If one seeks to become as Set, to
master Chaos and the depths of the subconscious, then one opens a direct communication
with the Setian Gnosis. This is when the great illumination known as the Black Flame
takes place, and the individual is able to perceive that life is what he or she makes of it,
and everything is possible with a positive outlook. The Christians would have you believe
that Black Magick itself is the path of death and destruction, however it is honestly quite
the opposite. The Christian monotheistic religion is self-destruction by placing exterior
worship of a deity alien to you. It teaches that man and women are to be subservient to
it’s will and that we must ignore the natural desires and impulses we were born with. The
Luciferian laughs at such, and we with discipline and thought out actions, change life, as
we know it to suit us as best we can. We do not accept things ‘as they are because of
God’s will’, but understand that we, as Luciferians are ourselves Gods and Goddesses
and may manifest the glory of them by our intelligent actions. We glorify and give
respect to such God forms by being strong individuals, whom use reason above faith.
The Evocation Circle itself will be used in a manner to call spirits forth into the circle,
from which they will be bound. One will use the circle that is developed from Goetic
sources for this work, and the Triple Hermetic Circle of Hamara’t would be used for the
magician to stand or sit within. Some sorcerer’s due to aesthetic alignment prefer to use

the Goetic Circle of Pacts, as developed by Eliphas Levi. This would be advised if for the
advanced Black Magickian who is able to ultimately balance the concepts of Holy and
Infernal. One would use the rituals of Daemonic Evocation or summons of shadow forms
or Qlippothic beings for such operations, not the Great Work or Holy Magick.
Let the sorcerer not be bound by the instruments of magickal art, for these are outer
projections and extensions of the Will. The sorcerer may be clothed and draped in the
night sky, covered in the grave soil and green of the earth and through the perception of
the awakened Eye (Lucifer) and Black Flame (Seth) shall he or she work magick. Free
yourself of instruments only to command their use according to your desire.
The Four Triangles which symbolize Earth – Air – Fire – Water as developed from
Hamara’t:
The Earth triad is the triad of Light and the Water triad is also that of darkness. Both
should be considered in their awakening aspect. Use the Triangles as you move through
the elements and their attributions, both light and shadow.
The development of the sorcerous aspects of Witches Sabbat are based within the art and
writings of Austin Osman Spare, called Zos vel Thanatos. While the techniques
implemented and developed by Spare is nothing new to Witchcraft, the approach is. Zos
himself was the receiver of what is the arcana of Anon, of the language of primal and
essential magick. This is the barbarous aspects which allow the individual the pure
current, devoid of dogma and ceremonials. While we urge the training of the Will
through such exercises, the Sorcery of Zos vel Thanatos stand at the vanguard of magical
awakening. To work through Spare’s system one would seek in-between states, which is
a procreative during which Belief is suspended, thus the imagination (Shaitan) may
develop and manifest the desire accordingly. The use of the Alphabet of Desire in

Witches Sabbat workings is a challenge for any individual, as this is the language of the
labyrinth of the mind, the black mirrors of the castles of the self!
Sigils are made by many different means, but let the simplicity of the written sigil be
discussed here. I will not explore here the aspects of using musick and paintings as sigils
but do keep in mind, this is the foundation for the natural expansion of the work itself.
Sigils are cryptic representatives of the Will, pure belief expanded in the lines of total
Desire. The sigil itself should be made in a combination of different letters of the object,
and then the original meaning forgotten. It is by the act of forgetting that the latent energy
is channeled through the subconscious to the conscious mind. This is the very secret of
becoming and using the force of Chaos or Apep (the unrealized and infinite aspect of
possibility within the Self) to your direct advantage.
Austin Spare wrote in the ‘Book of Pleasure’ “By the Ego conceiving only the Sigil, and
not being able to conceive anything from it, all energy is focused through it, the desire for
identification carries it to the corresponding subconscious stratum, its destination”.
Through the act of belief being the undercurrent of the Sigil, forgotten through the act of
focus, will the Atavistic aspect be called from this very force. If the desire is exterior,
Familiars and Atavistic forms attributed by the mind will make manifest by the
subconscious to conscious Will that desire. If interior, the Atavistic familiar shall bring to
the surface or find the proper circuits to allow this manifestation or self-evolution.
Lycanthropy and Astral Vampiric transformation occur in this same exact way. Once you
have explored and mastered this, can much more dangerous workings be undertaken.

A Self-Initiation Invocation
The circle represents the oath of perfection, from which nothing shall enter. The mind is a
source of heaven and hell, from which we may align ourselves better through ritualistic
tools and techniques, it is the Command to Look in progress, in terms of Greater Black
Magick. Robed in crimson or black, white candles upon the altar, and upon two points:
North and East representing Belial and Lucifer respectively. Black candles should be at
the point of West and South, representing Leviathan and Shaitan, the force reversed of
Lucifer.
“The black of night from which I have dwelled longs for a return to the dawn, from
which I shall cast my eyes upon through the shadow. Let the opposites be joined as the
twilight reverses into dawn.”

perfection. Let the light of your essence rain upon me, so that I may become of your
knowledge, from which I may become as God (Goddess) itself. From the dream of
spirit, emerge!”
Facing North:
“Belial, Belarion, the seraphim who would command the earth. Allow your essence to
surge through me as I stand upon the earth, your very eyes shall mirror my self. I call
thee forth from the depths of the earth, give me the strength to become Belarion Al
Dajjal when I have passed through the veil!”
Imagine the Four Crowned Princes flowing within you, that you may absorb and take the
knowledge of the Daemonic force to use in a positive, creative way. The baptism is
therefore one of self-initiation, so thus the symbols you believed they were are the
opposite. Face now and invoke Shaitan, from which you shall awake.
The Sigil of Shaitan should be focused upon and a mantra be recited, vibrating the name
“Shaitan”.
“Force emerged from Azoth, from which there is both the beginning and end, I do
place this oath before thee. To seek the shadows, the caverns of the earth, the dead and
their mighty arcana, come forth and bless my awakening. I call to the angelic, the

The Headless One Ritual is the ritual used to contact and invoke ones Holy Guardian
Angel, or True Will. This ritual is known to be very dangerous and produce phenomena
or hauntings in some places where it is performed. The Bornless One (or Headless One)
is a ritual of great potency used as a preliminary rite before many rituals, as it causes an
intense concentration of force. The original ritual was written in Greek, and in the text the
title Akephelos which means ‘Headless’ is found. The ritual is to some extent considered
Setian-Typhon in the act of invocation, as the similar ritual was an invocation to Typhon-
Seth. The ritual itself included the use of the head of an Ass, blood and the vibration of
the names of power. The History of this important ritual is found within The Headless
One article by Jake Stratton-Kent and is highly suggested to anyone interested in magick
and witchcraft.
Use the Headless One ritual before any working, and be able to vibrate and allow the
words of power to roll of the tongue, but also recite mentally. As Aleister Crowley
suggested, Invoke Often!

summoning up the angelic and daemonic spirit within the self – the “True Will” by
means of a mask of Luciferian Witchcraft. The very methods themselves are contained in
the calling of the four directions – each a component of higher illumination of self; which
is combined with the Bestial/Demonic with the Angelic. This is the center of balance
which was often deemed necessary in the Workings of Abramelin Magick; which issues
control over daemonic forces within and beyond the self. Azal'Ucel is a sigillic word
formula of Azazel and Lucifer to combind the ancient middle eastern with the western
idea of what the bringer of light may or may not be.
Aleister Crowley’s excellent and useful Liber Samekh explores this system entirely,
however in a modern context is rather long. It may be suggested that this particular role
of Magickal Invocation should still be employed, this version of the summoning of the
HGA is simplified to a short, concise and effective version which may be memorized
easily. In the Luciferian work, the practitioner is focusing on widdershins around the
Triple Hermetic Circle, or one of his or her own design, from which the quarters may be
called. The Grand Luciferian Circle may be employed also to effective and concise
approach to this Magick of self-initiation and transformation. In regard to Egyptian and
medival daemonic summons, a connection therein may be observed.
The Circle Casting is one of which the individual proclaims his and her mastery over
their own being, that by moving widdershins around the circle will enflame the self
during invocation; that is to envision each manifestation via minds’ eye with each call.
For instance, when one calls South, they would envision the Fire Djinn, in the North,
Seth. This is the key to the success of magical work; the Imagination.
South – the Devil-Djinn mentioned is Shaitan or Azazel, the fallen seraph whom is made
entirely of flame. It is this original legend which brought forth the separation of the God-
divinity or natural order to an adversarial or antinomianian process of anti-order. The
mentioning of “Blackened Light” is the Light of Azazel, or Shaitan embodied on earth
through Cain, the initiator of the Sethanic Path of Witchcraft.
East – Lucifer as Azazel in the earthbound form, the mentioning of twelve wings in
reference to the Serpent Angel. Lucifer is the Freedom of Will from which the individual
may seek to strengthen and illuminate the self in ones own discovered light, or Black
Flame.
North – The Cold North is the direction of not only Cain as the Lord of Horsemen, but
also of Set-heh the Adversary. Set is the Egyptian God of Chaos, Storms and Darkness.
The isolator, Set is the adversarial god of change, strength and sufficiency through the
Will. Set is the mask of Azazel, the Lord of Flame. Within Witchcraft Cain is considered
the offspring of Samael and Lilith, thus being the SAME as Baphomet. The
Angelic/Demon Higher Spirit of Cain is Azal’ucel, which is reflected in this very rite of
self-empowerment. It is through Set that all upon the Luciferian Path pass through, in the
skin of Cain or otherwise.

West – A calling to Leviathan, the Dragon essence which is immortal, or eternal. The
encircling of Leviathan is a Will directed focus of the individuals being or “I”
announcing the forced antinomianian separation from the natural order, and through
Leviathan grows strong in this circle of timeless being. The mysteries of the depths is
revealed as knowledge and wisdom of the subconscious. By tapping into the
subconscious, one is able to master their own individual life therein.
The reference to the Angelickan Watcher of the Sun and the Ahrimanic Shadow is based
in the Double Vessels or Fetishes of the Bestial and Angelick Atavisms and familiars. By
exteriorizing ones Adversarial aspects of “I” and “Being” one may objectively view the
essence of self, manifest its strengths again in the union of flesh and mind.

called ALGOL. This ritual was a Sethian development of the ‘Headless One’ ritual or
‘Bornless One’ ritual as developed and adapted by Aleister Crowley and the Greek
Papyrus. One may perform the rite as one of self-isolated stimulation via Sex Magick.
Enflame the self through invocation, all the while focusing upon the Luciferian aspects of
self, the light and the darkness.
GLOSSARY OF TERMS-
AKHU – The Ka and Ba in union, the Holy Guardian Angel and Evil Genius joined. This
is the Great Work defined, the union of opposites. In Thelemic view this would be The
Beast 666 and Babalon conjoined.
ALGOL – From the Arabic ‘Al Ghul’, meaning ‘Demon Star’. Algol is symbolized as
the Chaos Star with an averse pentagram in it, representing the individual star or
consciousness through Black Magick awakening. Algol itself is the image of Set in the
aspect of the Prince of Darkness, being the manifestation of the Black Sun or opposite
force of creation. Through Algol one may project any magical force necessary based on
ones’ experience. Algol is the mirror of The Order of Phosphorus.
ALPHABET OF DESIRE – The aspect of congress with the subconscious and the
spirits which are exterior of the self and within the self. This is the grammar which is
unspeakable and is used in communion with the conscious self (Ego,I) and the
subconscious self (Kia).
ANCESTRAL SHADES – Spirits, atavisms or familiars of the dead which return to us
from our initiation into Magick and Witchcraft. Ancestral Shades may not always be past
family, rather those who have been on the path before us who have gained immortality
who for whatever reason decide to assist us. In the Black Order of the Dragon, such
spirits are closely connected with the concepts of Varcolaci and the Undead Gods.
ANUBIS – Lord of Jackals and the Opener of the Way. Anubis is the funerary God that
is represented as having the head of a jackal or dog. According to Charles Pace, the
Bastard Son of SET-AN & ASET (Isis).
ATAVISTIC RESURGENCE – The return to consciousness the powers of the ‘dead’ or
subconscious energies or powers from the pre-human aspects. Atavisms are evoked
through intense Nostalgia and focus, often appearing in bestial forms.
ATHAME – The Blade of Holy Magick or Greater Black Magick workings, used in
ceremonial or solitary practice. Pathally a black handled knife.
AZAZEL – Called the Guardian of the Goat, Azazel is one of the 200 original fallen
angels, according to lore. It is considered that Azazel is the same as Shemyaza, the leader
of the Watchers. The Zohar makes reference (in Vayeze 153a) about the Rider upon the
serpent is “the evil Azazel”. In Islamic lore, Azazel is the same as Eblis and considered
by other lore as the first star (in reference to any angels) which would reveal him as
Lucifer.
AZOTH – The Beginning and End in its spiritual aspect, Azoth is a form of Life and
Death. From between comes the possibility of manifestation.
BA - the Soul in Egyptian mythology. When the immortal physically dies, the Ba, which
is the Astral Body, lives on within the tomb and beyond. Ba may be seen as the Evil

Genius of earth bound force often presented in Egyptian lore as a human headed bird.
The Ba is the psyche and force which exists beyond the veil.
BALEFIRE – Ritual fire used in Coven gatherings.
BLACK FLAME – The illuminated essence of being, the concept that we perceive
ourselves and our separate aspect from the natural order. The Gift of Set or Azazel.
CHALICE – The magickal cup used for Philters and ceremonies. While some covens
and individuals use the silver cup, one may use a KAPALA as well, which is a human
skull cap often imported from Tibet.
COVEN – A small group of magickal practitioners. Often 13 in number. Covens may be
of a smaller size as well.
DAEMON – From the Greek Daimon, meaning ‘spirit’. The Daemon is the root of
‘Demon’ therefore represents the spirit of the sorcerer and the exterior spirits on the astral
plane.
DJED – Egyptian, represents stability and strength, associated with the backbone in the
funerary cult. In the union of the circle, Djed is the Holy aspect in union with the shadow
of the magician, the very aspect of initiation towards the Great Work.
EVOCATION – The act of calling the spirit into and area, OUT from the self. Evocation
generally involves servitors, familiars, and Daemons. A potent and dangerous aspect of
ritual magick and sorcery is to evoke the force into the triangle, and then enter the
triangle and Invoke the force, calling it in. This results in an aspect of possession and
leads to higher developments of the consciousness and psyche.
FAMILIAR- The servitor or animal spirit which is associated with the Sorcerer. The
familiar may be evoked and bound, or may be created by the individual to assist in the
workings of sorcery. Called also the Famulus (Latin)
FETISH – An object from which the focus of a spirit or Coven item is charged. This is
the home of the famulus and is an extension of the sorcerer.
HOLY GUARDIAN ANGEL – The True Will, the divine aspect of the self as the
psyche, the immortal aspect of the mind which separates us from pure instinctual beings.
IBLIS - The fallen angel known as the Devil. The attribution of Iblis is that of the
imagination, thus Lucifer is our imagination. While not widely accepted in the West,
William Blake was one of the few to and attributes Satan to the mind. Iblis is derived
from the Greek Diabolus. Iblis before the fall is known as Azazyl, whom is identical to
the leader of the watchers.
INVOCATION – The act of calling the spirits IN, assuming consciousness from outer
inspired sources. Invocation in the supplication of a force, to bring it in and absorb it.
Some consider this Predatory Spiritualism which is related to Astral Vampirism.
KA – The vital force of life which is related to Ba. Ka may be seen as the Holy Guardian
Angel, the spirit of Light and perfection in itself.

KAPALA- Human Skull Cap consecrated as a drinking cup or chalice. Pathally used in
Tibetan Chod rites.
MANES – The shadow of the dead, spirit forms which may be controlled and absorbed
by the sorcerer’s own astral body. One may feed the servitors themselves from this, that
they may take their shadow and from your Will form their shapes in darkness in whatever
fashion you so desire.
SABBAT- The Meeting of Witches in the Dream Plane, the secret arcana of leaving the
body. There are two aspects of the Sabbat, the Empyrean/Celestial (of Air – the
Luciferian Sabbat) and the Infernal Sabbat (Chthonic, Demonic and Earth based). These
two elements of the Dream Conclave are connected with the symbolism of which the
Fraturnitias Saturni focused upon as the Higher and Lower Octave of Saturn.
SHADES – Shadows of the Dead, spirits which commune with the living. The Witches
Sabbat path works with shades from Ancestral Manes and evoked spirits.
THANATOS – Death and the spirit therein. Thanatos is considered the death posture
guide through which we meet the deep desire, Thanatos is the gateway therefore.
THEURGY – Holy or High Magick, practiced originally or defined by the Egyptian
Platonists which commune with beneficial spirits is sought. This is a part of The Great
Work of communion with the Holy Guardian Angel, and Greater Servitor or Familiar.
