Cikoneng Lighthouse is located in Bojong, Cikoneng, Anyer, Banten.

Behind the towering height,

Anyer Lighthouse or commonly called Cikoneng Lighthouse turns out to have a long history behind
its development

According to the lighthouse keeper, at first the lighthouse was built in 1806, the Anyer-Panarukan
road project was only carried out in 1825. When the Krakatoa volcano erupted in 1883, the lighthouse
was destroyed, leaving only the foundation. Well, two years later, namely in 1885, under the rule of
Z.M Willem III the lighthouse was re-built (some sources mentioned that this lighthouse was a gift
from Z.M Willem III)

So, the lighthouse building that stands today is a new building. Even the location is different from the
original building. The lighthouse, which is currently built 500m more inland, while the old lighthouse
foundation is currently used as a zero kilometer monument.

This 75.5 meter high building is still standing until now. The walls of the building are made of 2.5-
3cm thick steel which is still very good. The walls of the building are regularly repainted while the
inside is always cleaned so that it is not slippery.

Riding the lighthouse steps is not an easy thing to do. A narrow room measuring 2.5 meters becomes
something that must be passed if you want to go to the top of the lighthouse. Moreover, the more
upward, the room will be narrower. visitors have to climb 286 manual stairs from 18 floors. At the top
of the lighthouse, you will be presented with a variety of sights. Starting from watching the open sea,
Jalan Raya Anyer to the green hills. By late afternoon, it was the right time to enjoy the lighthouse.
From here we can see the sun slowly sinking to the east with beautiful colors.

In addition to being a silent witness to the construction of the Anyer-Panarukan road, the lighthouse
was also a witness of a period of warfare when Japan tried to seize Indonesia. One tangible evidence
is seen on the outer side of the lighthouse where there are patches of Japanese gunfire that have been
patched on the lighthouse walls.

As the name suggests that is the lighthouse, this building serves to help navigate ships sailing in the
Sunda Strait. Until now, this lighthouse is still used as its function to help shipping. The management
and maintenance of the lighthouse is held by the Directorate General of Sea Transportation.

Anyer Lighthouse is listed in the Indonesian Flare List with number 2260. In addition to Anyer,
similar lighthouse buildings can be found in various strategic places for shipping in Indonesia.
However, the original buildings of the Dutch heritage are not many. There are many beacon towers in
Indonesia which are new buildings.

The light used by the lighthouse is 1000 watts, and starts from 18:00 until morning. In addition to
lights, there is also a magnifying glass to expand the range of light. Light from this lighthouse can
reach as far as 20-25mil (1mil = 1609m). According to the story of the lighthouse keeper, in ancient
times, when there was no source of electricity, the light source of the lighthouse energy was obtained
by processing resin fruit or from the distance seeds that were very large in the region.

All the history of Banten with the subject of Lighthouse, hopefully it will be of benefit to us all.
