NATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR WOMEN-NYS ENDORSES SCHNEIDERMAN FOR

ATTORNEY GENERAL

NOW-NYS Hails Schneiderman’s lifelong commitment to fighting for women’s rights

NEW YORK - Praising his lifelong record of championing women’s rights, the National
Organization for Women-New York State has endorsed Eric Schneiderman for Attorney
General. NOW-NYS cited Eric’s unmatched work safeguarding a woman's right to choose,
protecting women who are victims of domestic abuse, and workplace equality in their
endorsement.

“We are thrilled to endorse a true champion for women, Eric Schneiderman, to be the next
Attorney General of New York. From his leadership on issues like reproductive freedom, to
his long time work protecting victims of domestic abuse, Eric has been a standout on issues
of concern to the millions of women throughout this state,” said Marcia Pappas, President of
National Organization for Women-NYS.

“I am proud to have the endorsement of the National Organization for Women-NYS, an

organization that has been blazing the trail for women’s rights in our state for decades,” said
Eric Schneiderman. “As Attorney General, I will never stop standing up for women's right -
whether it's safeguarding a woman’s right to choose or protecting victims of domestic abuse."

The NOW-NYS endorsement comes in the wake of bombshell reports that Republican Dan
Donovan personally secured grants for the Crisis Pregnancy Center of New York –- an
organization that uses deceptive practices to discourage women from considering their full
range of reproductive health care options – over the course of at least four years. Donovan
received an award from the group for his efforts.

Schneiderman is a lifelong advocate for a woman's right to choose a safe and legal abortion.
Unlike his opponent Dan Donovan, Eric has led the fight for women's rights in New York State
- supporting equality of medical coverage for contraception, health screenings, and infertility
treatment and protecting a woman's right to choose.

As a lawmaker, Schneiderman kicked a member of his own party out of the Senate after being
convicted of domestic violence and, this year, Schneiderman sponsored, passed, and the
Governor signed into law the Anti-Strangulation Act of 2010. Schneiderman also sponsored and
passed through the senate, legislation to crack down on anyone who intimidates or tampers with
a witness in a domestic violence cases.

In contrast, Schneiderman’s opponent continues to promote a domestic violence bill that fails to
require the mandatory arrest of domestic violence abusers.
