Sebastian Yradier was born on January 20, 1809, in Sauciego, Alava,
Spain. He was noted as a composer of songs, including the famous La
Paloma. Bizet adapted Yradier's song, Chanson Havanaise, for use in
his opera, Carmen. Yradier died on May 12, 1865, in Brussels, Belgium.
Shorty after his death, a collection of 25 of his most popular songs was

issued by a Paris publisher.

Hildreth, Richard E.

DOB: August 6, 1867 (Middlesboro, Yorkshire, England)

DOD: May 29, 1941 (Cambridge, Massachusetts)
At the age of 12, he immigrated to the United States with his parents,
who settled in the Boston area. He became proficient on several
instruments, and, starting at the age of 18, he conducted numerous town
band concerts in the Boston area.
Hildreth eventually settled in West Sommerville (MA), and obtained
employment with the Walter Jacobs Publishing Company in nearby
Boston. This was the beginning of a 40-year period during which he
served as the head of Jacobs’ music department. His compositions and
arrangements brought him considerable fame. He was especially popular as a composer of music for

school bands.

R.E. Hildreth.
