About this report

Broadbandtrends aspires to offer the most complete, up-to-date and accurate data for world
broadband statistics and estimates. As such, we collect quarterly statistics from broadband
operators offering DSL, Cable Modem, Fiber to the Home, Other (including Satellite, Fixed
Wireless Access and Broadband over Powerline).

It also includes data on Voice over Broadband (does not include services such as Skype) and
IPTV. We collect data on a country basis and aggregate to a regional basis. In addition, we
also utilize data from National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs) both for collection purposes and to
validate already collected data. This may result in us revisiting previous quarters’ data, if
revisions are necessary, or as additional sources of information become available. We may also
use data that has been obtained from press releases, news articles or conference presentations.

For broadband penetration, we base our data on households rather than users. Household data
is based on information provided via the ITU’s Yearbook of Statistics.

This report includes both a 14-page written report (including 11 Figures and 10 Tables) as well as
a supplemental spreadsheet. This spreadsheet includes quarterly broadband subscriber
information by type (DSL, Cable Modem, FTTH, Other) and by region 1Q02 to 2Q10,
