Solution Definition Summary

In this section provide a description of the purpose for this Solution Paper. Include all related documents e.g.
Functional Design, Business Process Design etc. associated with this Solution Paper.

Purpose

The purpose of this solution paper is to answer all related business questions and issues
corresponding to the Equipment business event and configuration considerations.

Equipments are individual physical objects in the plant that are to be maintained.
Equipment code for BSPHCL will be system generated internal running numbers except for
distribution transformers (11KV/440V) where it will be external number range.

Equipment code will be created for Dist Transformer & LT Circuits (No of circuits) of transformer for
O&M as per the business decision.

For PSS, Equipments will be created for Power transformer, CT, PT, CT/PT Unit,11KV feeders, 33KV
feeders and related equipments as per the inputs given by BSPHCL team.

Different categories will be defined for equipment types.

Each category will be mapped with different number ranges as per the business decision.
For O&M, Distribution Substation (DSS) will have Internal number range.

For Power Substation (PSS), all equipments created will have internal number range.

Equipment in BSPHCL will be installed at Functional Location.

Required Business Decisions

In this section provide a description of the business decisions that are required from this Solution Paper. Document
the detail required at a business event, configuration group and/or an IMG Configuration item. Describe why these
decisions are required and the role they play in the overall configuration. In addition any configuration guiding
principles that affect the Business decisions should be documented as Business Implications (i.e. what are the rules,
boundaries, limitations of ERP).
Where applicable a detailed analysis of the different options and the advantages and disadvantages of each of the
options will be provided along with the recommended solution. Alternatively, a discussion of the appropriate
solution may only be provided.
Assumptions

Functional Location will be created and managed by authorized persons only.

All the locations where Equipments are installed are to be created as Functional Location.

Functional location code in SAP is created using a Structure Indicator.

Structure indicator consists of 2 main components i.e. Edit mask and hierarchy level (HL).

The edit mask describes the structure that the identification of a functional location is to have. The mask
must consist of at least one character, which cannot be a separator.

An edit mask generally consists of several blocks of characters, which are clearly marked at the end by
the number of a hierarchy level. In addition, the individual blocks can be visually divided from one
another by separators.

Maximum Length of the edit mask is 40 Characters.

Hierarchy levels subdivide a functional location into different layers.

Structure Indicator identified for BSPHCL is DISTR and Edit Mask (EM) to be used is as follows :

For Distribution Operation and Maintenance :

EM : AAA-AAAA-XXX-XXXXXXXXXX
HL : 1 2 3 4

ONM: (DSS Codification – 11KV/440V)

ONM-PATN-DSS-010201

Where N- Numeric Value

A – Alphabets
X – Alpha-numeric
