The Correlation Between The Habit of Watching English-Speaking Movies (Harry Potter
Movie) and Students’ English Speaking Skill (A Case of The Third Semester Students at
Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University)

A. Research Design
In this research, researcher used quantitative research. This research conducted in
correlational research design.

B. Research question
1. Is there any Correlation Between The Habit of Watching English Movies and
Students’ English Speaking Skill?

C. a. Independent Variable : Watching English Movies


b. Dependent Variable : Students’ English Speaking Skill

D. Hypothesis
a. Null hypothesis : There is no Correlation Between The Habit of Watching
English Movies and Students’ English Speaking Skill.
b. Alternative hypothesis : There is any Correlation Between The Habit of Watching
English Movies and Students’ English Speaking Skill.
E. Limitation of the research

The researcher limited the problem are student’s habit of watching English-speaking
movie (Harry Potter Movie) and students’ English speaking skill.

a. Population and sample:
- The population is The Third Semester Students at
Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University
- The sample used random sampling to get the
representative sample.
b. Research instrument:
- Questionnaire
- Test
H. Data analyze technique
For analyzing the test, the researcher will use normality test, linearity testing, significance
testing, and hypothesis testing.
