This primary research here shows me asking the survey takers age as we were asking our

target audience for this radio production ages 16- 25 ( late teens - Young adults). This
information makes proves my results from participants will be reliable as shown above, the
reason I believe they have told the truth here is because I only asked people between the
ages 16-25 to take part through emailing my class and posting this survey on snap chat. I
posted it on snap chat in particular as this is the most used social media service for teens
and I thought this would make my results more reliable to viewers, as I would only be
questioning my target audience, so there would be no anomalous results.

From my results from question 2 asking Have you ever listened to a radio drama, I learnt
that 11/17 (64.71%) had said "No" this is a problem for me as this means my feedback may
not be as helpful/ constructive for me as intended as over half my participants have not
listened to a radio drama, so they will not know the codes/ conventions of what makes a
good radio drama. This also proves that radio is becoming outdated and the younger
generation are not associating themselves with broadcast media.

I learned from question 3 where I asked participants to name radio dramas they had listened
to, I learned from this that I should of been more obviously about what I was asking as many
of the participants who answered no, answered this question meaning I had fewer answers
than I thought, in the future I will make sure I do this to ensure I get constructive answers.
I also learned from my result the 6/17 who had listened to a radio drama either could not
remember for example "I haven't" whereas other who did remember answered with such
things as " when I lived in peru". Another example of proof of this, such as " Welcome to
nights vale, what's the frequency and Greater bottom", " Cabin pressure and old Harry's
game". This shows amongst my data I will have some overall good constructive feedback as
I have knowledgeable participants who know the codes and conventions of radio drama's ,
as well as the genre's that interest them.

These results for question 4 where I asked participants what platform they had listened to
these radio dramas on. The results I gathered show what the majority of people stream their
radio dramas on as well as what the majority least listen to, for example the higher majority
said that they used Spotify to stream radio drama's as well as radio tie-ing having the same
overall majority of 4 votes each at 33.33%. The lowest majority as shown in the results was
Sound cloud which has 1 vote at 8.33%, this is the same case with Tuneln which has the
same overall results. My reasoning why I believe these results is because Spotify is the most
used streaming platform for music with it's audience being both Adults and teens, as well as
radio which used by drivers every day, young and older. The reason I think Soundcloud and
Tuneln is used the least is because these are more underground streaming platforms that
most of the younger generation may have not heard of, or don't use as this platform is
mostly known for it's specific music genres they represent e.g. rap and dance music.

I learned from question 5, where I asked if my participants would ever consider listening to a
radio drama. I learned from these results that over half of participants would not listen to a
radio drama for example 10/17 which is 58.82% overall. As this survey was aimed at the
target audience 16-25 teens- young adults, I believe this could be due to them not having
found one that suits their liking or just this not being their interest. The participants that who
said yes they would, overall was 7/17(41.18%) .

I learned from this question, where I asked if participants preferred radio dramas to other
forms of media e.g. films. I learned that 100% overall 15 people did not prefer this form of
media (radio drama's). The reason I believe this is the case is because the younger
generation(my target audience) prefer to see what they can hear as oppose to listening,
having to imagining the story themselves to visualize it.

I learned from question 7 where I asked participants what is your favourite genre of radio
dramas/ movie?. The reason I put radio drama/ movies is because the genres are the same
and this would help participants understand the question more. I found from these results
that Comedy was the majority for best genre with an overall percentage of 42.86% (6/17).
This indicates to me that I should try to incorporate a comedic sense into my production as
this is what the people want. I learned from my results that science fiction/ romance was the
least popular genres with 1 vote each and a overall of 7.14%. I think that I have this as an
outcome as romance is often repetitive and follows the same generic story line, I believe that
science fiction is least favourite genre because this is the most used genre and has a certain
audience, I also believe this genre isn't popular because the audience may want something
different/new. I acknowledge this and will make sure when in production to read back at my
research to remind myself what our target audience want.

I learned from question 8 where I asked participants Why is this your favourite genre? that
people enjoy a production that's funny and makes them feel good for example a majority of
participants previously chose comedy as their favourite genre they quoted why they admire
this" it's funny and makes me laugh" whilst others said " I like to laugh with friends" these
results suggest that people enjoy something they can laugh and listen to as a group or
family, during pre - production I will make sure to include an appropriate amount of comedy
into my radio drama as it's what people want and enjoy. 1 participant quoted "it's interesting
and has sound effects" this suggest that I should ensure that I include many good effective
sound effects as this intrigues and keeps listeners attention.

I learned from question 9 where I asked participants Do you think this genre would suit a
radio drama?. I learned from my results that participants personally believe their genre would
suit my production in this case they personally believe comedy would suit my radio genre as
it's the highest majority. 56.25% of participants said yes here which 9/16 whilst No= 6.25%
(1/16), maybe= 12.50% (2/16) furthermore 4/16 replied "Don't know" ( 25.00%).

I learned from question 10 where I asked participants How long do you think a radio drama
should be?. I learned from these results not that much as a high majority of these results
were unfortunately not that constructive I have two reasons for this. Firstly I feel I should
have worded the question better as for this production our radio drama has to be 5 minutes
long whereas a full radio drama is 40- 1 hour 30 minutes long, In my survey I did not state
this (which is my own misdoing). This caused me to have results such as "20-40 minutes"
and " 1 hour" this is no ones but my own fault and in future I will be more careful in order to
communicate the right thing to people. Overall I had very few constructive results for this
question but the ones I did get such as " 4 - 8 minutes" were helpful as this allows me in the
future when planning to sensibly construct a strong narrative which would fit into this time
span, in order to gain a overall good end product.
