NON-ROTATIONAL SAFETY SHEAR SUB

PRODUCT NO: 20-031

INTRODUCTION

The TechWest Non-Rotational Safety Shear Sub is a tubing release

assembly that allows the operator to disconnect from the tubing string
when it is stuck downhole. The non-rotational safety shear sub is ran
when retrieval issues are anticipated (eg. in highly deviated wellbores,
open hole completions or where debris is expected) and is often ran
just above a tool or BHA.

The Safety Shear Release may also used in certain stacked packer
completions for emergency release.

The non-rotational Safety Shear Sub is used when torque is required

to be transmitted to the tubing below the tool.

STORAGE

The TechWest Downhole Swivels are designed to be as maintenance free as possible. Low alloy carbon
steel tools which may corrode due to atmospheric moisture are supplied with a surface treatment that
enhances corrosion and galling resistance. High alloy and Nickel base tools are featured with anti-galling
coating (or surface treatment) on threads and critical areas. For the best performance and life, all shear
subs should be stored in a dry indoor area until ready for use.

RUNNING PROCEDURE

Visually inspect the Safety Shear Sub prior to running it into the well.

Verify and record the number and type of shear screws used.

Verify that tubing thread connections are made up to the correct torque value.
