Tangram

This fun Chinese game can help you learn about geometry. Using five shapes (five triangles, one
square and one rhomboid) the challenge is to arrange them to make up pictures.

The rules are:

1. All pieces to be used.
2. Pieces to be laid flat and no overlapping.

Perhaps you have Tangram sets already but here we show you how to make your own. Below is
shown how to mark out the cuts on a 4 x 4 grid. There are small and large templates on the next
pages that you could print out. You could print on paper or card and cut along the lines. You could
also print out on paper and stick it over card and cut the shapes out of the card. Get picture puzzles
from the internet A good site for information on Tangrams including history and lots of pictures to be
made is http://tangrams.ca
