CHAPTER I

Problem and Its Background

Introduction

Bulihan also known in different street foods out there, stall store that have variety

of street foods they sell with matching colored juice and junk foods, but the thing is, Is it

good in human health? or Is it lead to bad health? Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is very

common now a days-- there’s a lot of teenager-students suffered on it. Urinary Tract

Infection (UTI) defined as the presence of pathogenic microorganisms in the urinary

tract. It is an infection in any part of your urinary system—your kidneys, ureters, bladder

and urethra. Most infection involve the lower urinary tract--- the bladder and the urethra.

( Dr. Mestrovic, MD, PH, 2016). These are the common symptoms of UTI and

sometimes it leads in severe condition: abdominal pained, back pained, bladder pained

and liver pained.

According to Dr. Sonny (2004), Overeating of foods outside the house have an

impact in our health that may cause illness like Urinary Tract Infection and Hepatitis B.

Rivar (2007) claimed in his study that personal hygiene is important in the body. Usually

underwear should not repeated. It’s one at a time because the bacteria in underwear

transfer to the reproductive organ of human. On the other hand, Monsley (2005) stated

that diseases normally pass to all generation it maybe by blood. If a mother is pregnant

and has disease the child on her womb may be possible to have it.
Eating habits, Hygiene and Inherited disease are common causes of UTI but in

this study shows the importance of “human health” to avoid those factors that may lead to

them.

Statement of the Problem

This study is mainly aimed to determine The prevalence of UTI among teenager-

students in Bulihan National High School Year 2017-2018.

1. What are the demographic profile of the participants in terms of:

a. Age; and

b. Sex?

2. What are the factors of having UTI in terms of:

a. Eating habits;

b. Hygiene; and

c. Inherited?

3. Is there any relationship between eating Habits and urinary Tract Infection(UTI)?

4. Is there any relationship between hygiene and urinary Tract Infection(UTI)?

5. Is there any relationship between inherited disease and urinary Tract Infection(UTI)?
Scope and limitation

The study determined the Prevalence of Urinary Tract Infection among Teenager-

students. This study will involve 200 Senior High School students-grade twelve from

Bulihan National High School. The researchers will be choosing their participants

through Purposive random sampling.

Significance of the Study

This study will be useful especially to those teenager-students suffered or will

experience Urinary Tract Infection. This will further enhance their knowledge on how to

come up to the said matter and also to prevent the increasing number of teenager will be

suffered on it.

Students- It is useful to them to lessen the absences in school, and for able to avoid those

factors may lead in Urinary Tract Infection.

Community- It will serve as the basis to create program about the prevention of UTI in

community and to lessen the number of cases in every baranggay.

Teacher- Teacher must be considerate.UTI can avoid if the students allow to pee if they

felt the urination.

School- Neat and clean facilities in school avoidance the cause of having a UTI, it may

give as an example in other School that cleaning the comfort room lessen the percentage

of bacteria in the bowl.

In general, the key purpose of the study is to inform readers, students, community

if Eating Habits, Hygiene and Inherited related to Urinary Tract Infection.

Lastly, the study may serve as a reference for future researchers who would like

to conduct related studies.

Conceptual Framework
The conceptual framework illustrate the correlation of three factors in UTI. The

Independent Variables in this study are Eating Habits, Hygiene and Inherited disease

while the Dependent Variable is the Urinary Tract Infection. This study will determine

the relationship between those factors to Urinary Tract Infection.

Hypothesis

The following null hypothesis will be tested for an in depth solution to the

problem.

Hypothesis no. 1

There is no relationship between Eating Habits and Urinary Tract Infection.

Hypothesis no. 2

There is no relationship between Hygiene and Urinary Tract Infection.

Hypothesis no.3

There is no relationship between inherited disease and Urinary Tract Infection.
