SELF-INTRODUCTION
I am Jose Bernardo Virtucio IV and I am a HUMSS student or the Humanities and Social
Sciences Academic Strand. As a student, I do my best to pass requirements and tests so that I may
pass my classes and learn more from my teachers. In the future, I see myself as a college student
pre-law. I truly believe that I will finish my course and become a lawyer in the future. I live by a
quote said by Marty Mcfly in the movie Back to The Future which is “If you put your mind to it,
you can accomplish anything.” I live by this quote because us humans can do many great things
and I believe that if we really put our mind to it we can do anything. I want to be a lawyer as many
of my family members have pursued this career. Throughout this Capstone program I learned to
balance my academics and my review for the College Entrance Tests. Although, it was hard in
trying to balance academics, capstone, and review for the College Entrance Tests, I managed to do
all with a little bit of hard work, perseverance and patience I was able to do these things
groupworks I get seldom works for most of my groupmates prefer to give me the easier tasks as
they believe that I am not capable of doing or finishing such tasks. But, with my group consisting
mostly of friends that I have come to know since last year, they helped me overcome and motivated
me to be confident with my work and thus, I was able to contribute and do more for my group
WHAT IS CAPSTONE?
for students, which is typically given to them during their final year of high school. In the
Philippines it is given to them in their final year in the Senior High School. This program is
designed to encourage students to think critically, solve challenging problems, and develop skills
such as oral communication, public speaking, research skills, media literacy, teamwork, planning,
self-sufficiency, or goal setting-i.e., skills that will help prepare them for college, modern careers,
and in adult life. For me the capstone program is given to students in their final year of high school

to be able to immerse themselves and help solve challenging problems that they don’t necessarily
face in their everyday lives. This in turn helps the people whose problems they are helping solve.
MY CAPSTONE EXPERIENCE
Throughout the five months that I spent on the Capstone project of Colegio San Agustin-
Makati Senior High School. I learned and acquired knowledge and skills that are beneficial not
only in school but for my college education and career in the future as well. This is because the
project helped me enhance my social skills which was significantly used in the communities we
visited to be able to discover and solve their problems within their community. Aside from that I
learned to be more observant of my surroundings because for a very long time I never really was
involved in helping in communities except in the outreach activities that the school provides for
its students. But this Capstone project has helped me integrate my help towards the citizens on a
more personal level because it gave me a chance to connect more and know more from the locals
in the communities we have visited. This Capstone project revealed to me as a student and as a
person that I can help solve problems within a community or being able to help in many ways that
can benefit others. This capstone project has helped me be prepared for college, my career, and
my life beyond school because it helped me be more active in helping solve problems and using
my skills that I have learned in this project to its full potential. While doing this capstone project I
realized that I was able to use my social skills which I have had a hard time fully utilizing by
connecting with the locals that we came to know throughout the project. Although I had strengths
within this project I also have weaknesses which are my failure to do things with the amount of
time I am given. This is due to the many requirements given to not only me but the entire class by
the Senior High School department. As the seniors of the high school department, we are expected
to be college ready and independent of our own. But back to the weaknesses or struggles that I had
with the creation of this project, it was hard trying to balance both academics and the Capstone
project because although me and my group mates were given enough time to finish the said
requirements for the Capstone project we still couldn’t do things needed ahead of time which
forced us to cram a few parts in the making of our project. With this, our progress in the making
of project hindered us from finishing the task earlier than expected. But although we suffered such
setbacks we were still able to finish and fully execute our project for the communities we were

assigned to which made us happy knowing that despite suffering challenges we were still able to
finish all the things needed for this project. As a senior high school student of Colegio San Agustin
Makati I have grown to be more rational and mature. This means that the Senior High School has
helped me grow not only as a student but as an individual as well. I believe that the Senior High
School is a great addition to the education of students. Because not only does its job of preparing
you for college but it also helps you learn and enhance your skills through the different activities
that it offers such as in this case the capstone project. I have learned many new things from the
different subjects in the Senior High School of CSA Makati. One connection I could make with
one of my subjects to the capstone project is my current subject I am currently taking which is
Disciplines and Ideas in The Applied Social Sciences. One of the lessons in this subject is Social
Work, this lesson can be connected or applied to the capstone project because in capstone we are
assigned to help solve a problem that one of the communities are facing. Social Work, as defined
by (AASW) or the Australian Association of Social Workers recognizes that social work is a
practical profession designed at helping people address their problems and matching them with the
resources they need to lead healthy and productive lives. This is similar with the capstone project
because we help the locals by providing them with the needs that they have a hard time gaining
access to. This is one of the fascinating things about the capstone project because it is a project
that is very relevant as it aims to enhance the students critical thinking, problem solving, and
develop skills such as oral communication, media literacy, research skills etc. That are necessary
in their future. This capstone project has taught me many things and one of them is improving my
social skills and problem-solving skills as well as my public speaking skills. The capstone project
helped me in improving my social skills because I was able to get to know the different people my
group and I will be helping. I’ve always had a hard time trying to talk to others because I’m very
shy when I try to get to know a person or a group of people. But, with the help of my group mates
which are also my friends who helped me and gave me enough confidence and courage to
overcome my challenges of not being able to fully utilize my social skills. With this I was able to
improve on my social skills and made me confident enough to meet new people which is necessary
when I graduate from high school and move on to college. The capstone project also helped me
improve my problem-solving skills, because one of this project’s aim is for students to solve
problems that are given to them. Before, this project my problem-solving skills were average as I
never really was a fan of solving problems because I used to believe that nothing will happen or

nothing good will come out of it. But, after this project I’ve come to realize that solving problems
is very much needed and that I should work on it while I have the chance because when I get to
college I have to done things on my own as when we get to college we are expected to learn a
higher form of education which means I have to improve on some of these skills for me to be able
to do good in college. And lastly, this project has also helped me develop my public speaking
skills. This is one of the many skills that I have had a hard time improving and overcoming ever
since I got to school. I am not the only one who has had a hard time improving this skill because
not everyone is good at public speaking but with this capstone project it helped me improve and
overcome this skill by immersing me and my classmates to activities wherein we must speak to a
large group of people. I am lucky and happy to have had this capstone project because it helped
me improve many of the skills that I need in preparation for college and for life.

PROGRESS REPORT
What I can say about my progress report is that I am consistent in attending my classes
as well as doing my part as a student of this project to help solve the problems of the people we
are helping. My performance in the capstone project is highlighted and seen in my progress report
for I was able to do the necessary tasks needed for the capstone project. Based on my progress
report I can say that I was able to successfully do the parts assigned to me by my group leader and
the tasks assigned to us by our teacher. Also based on my progress report I am consistent in doing
the tasks that have been given to me as well as consistent in attending my capstone class. This is
because I never missed a class except the classes wherein we had cancellation of classes. As seen
in my progress report I was able to list down everything we did during our class from our first
week which was the orientation up to the passing of the final papers needed for the portfolio. It
was a fun experience to have been a part of the capstone project because not only have I learned
many new things, but I also made many memories with the people I met and my classmates as
well.
