Tests being done here are : Particles agglutination test for HIV,CBC, stool
analysis, culture and sensitivity, urinalysis,LFTs,HB,
Antenatal screening amongst other tests. I am also
involved in developing the teaching protocol we use for
educating the surrounding community especially the slum
dwellers in regards to HIV/AIDS awareness.
15th July-12thOct2006 : Nyumbani Diagnostics Laboratory; which handles
HIV infected samples (98%) from all over Kenya.

Tests done here were:-


Hematology- Haemocytometry, antenatal screening, E.S.R,
Clotting time, sickling test, cross- match.
Chemistry - LFTs, kidney function test, Lipid profile, uric acid
Calcium & glucose analysis amongst others tests
Virology- HIV simple rapid test, HIV Elisa test, Viral load
(amplicor 1.5 version) and PCR
Endocrinology- Thyroid function test, Prostate specific antigen (P.S.A)
Serology- Widal test, VDRL, Rheumatoid factor, A.S.O.T, brucella
Malaria, HBSAg and Hepatitis A&C.
Microbiology- Culture and identification of bacteria in stool, blood
and effusions
