Step 1: enter in service mode in order to used the resetter:

 Turn off the printer without pulling the power cords.

 Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
 Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
 Then Press Resume button 5 times then let both buttons go.
 The Alternate Blinking error is gone: the printer is in Service Mode state.

Step 2:

 Extract the resetter and double click "servicetool.exe"

 Click Reload Button and you will get a new USB port.
 Load some papers in your printer and press the "Main" Button, wait until it shows "error 001"
then press OK.
 Then press "EEPROM" button and the printer will print some text, after that click OK
 Then power off the printer (sometimes you have to press twice the power button to turn off)
and turn on again.
 That's done.

Troubleshooting:

 Error 006 with the Service tool:

After clicking "Maint button" on clear ink counter section the program hang up, wait for e few minutes
still the progam not responding.

This Service Tool can make service adjustments and Reset procedures with the Ink Absorber Counter. To
reset waste ink absorber counters you have to use Service Tool V2000 under Windows XP or under other
Windows OS in the compatibility mode:

1. Order and DOWNLOAD Service Tool V2000 for Canon iP, iX, MP, MX series
2. Unzip downloaded file by WinZip.
3. Set the printer in Service Mode:
- power OFF the printer bu Power button. Dont disconnect power cable
- connect the printer by USB cable to the PC.
- press and hold Resume button (red triangle in the red circle) and press Power button
- hold both buttons until power on indicator will light then release resume button (dont release Power
button) and press Resume button 2 times (for iP2700, iP4840, iP4850, MP280 models - press Resume
button 5 times)
- release all buttons - the printer will blink few times with green light and will then light green
constantly. You have put the printer in Service Mode now and you can now run the Service Tool. (If the
printer is still blinking by green - you have some other errors in printer and you have to fix them first,
because the Service Tool will not work if the printer is not put in service mode - green light is constant)
4. Run the Service Utility.exe program.
5. Select the connected USB port number from USB PORT
6. In the Ink Absorber Counter section of the Service Tool, select MAIN from the Absorber pull-down menu.
7. From the Counter Value(%) pull-down menu, select the value (in 10% increments) which is the closest to
the actual counter value confirmed before replacement of the logic board, and click SET.
Print EEPROM information to confirm that the value is properly set to the EEPROM.

My Epson R2880 stopped printing and showed alternating ink and paper flashing lights. I had an extended

resetting a printer's ink levels is usually done whenever a refilled ink cartridge is used
because the printer software do not have an actual way of measuring a cartridge's
remaining ink.there are basically two steps in resetting a printer's ink levels:1. resetting the
printer (hardware reset) - how do you do a hardware reset for a pixma ip2700? (ex. for

Ink Absorber Problem?
In order to solve your problem about the ink absorber of your printer if it is
almost full, you need to clear or reset the counter protection of the printer.
There are few steps of doing it.
First: download
the PCM_Servicetool athttp://www.ziddu.com/download/11944259/PCM_ser
vicetool.rar.html .
After finish download locate the file and extract it.
Second: Enter the printer Service mode; this procedure is needed to allow
you to use the IPTool or the resetter. For now we will leave the file that you
downloaded and will go to the printer.
*Turn off the printer first but remember do not pull off the power cord.
* Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
* By these time you’re holding down both power and resume button.
*Now release the resume button and press it five times
*After that you can now release the power button.
*after releasing the both button; the resume button will stop blinking.
Congratulations! Your half way to go because it means the printer is in
service mode state already. Now this is the time that we will use the resetter
that you downloaded earlier.

Open the file servicetool.exe and then the new window will appear; now you
will see the model of your printer at the lift side . Now find the clear ink
counter below that are the MAIN and the PLATEN button; click the MAIN
button and much better if you also clear the EEPROM at the Operation area.
Reset the printer and you are finish.
