General Notes:
This Bill of Quantities shall be read in conjunction with
structural drawing as specified

All drawing shall be read in conclusion with all relevant

structural architecture, mechanical and electrical drawings.
The piles shall be 200mm x 200mm reinforced concrete pile;
as specified. Refer to the Specifications, General Conditions
and Preliminaries and Trade Preambles for items applicable to
the Piling Works

Equipment and Plant

The Contractor shall provide all equipment, plant and vehicles
including frame, lifting and driving devices and temporary
guide rails with maintenance and supply of fuel and lubricants
and other equipment necessary for the proper execution and
completion
The Contractor shall be responsible to provide approved piling
machine to minimise the effects of vibration, air pollution,
noise and detrimental disturbance to the existing building and
surrounding
The piling machine shall remain on site through out the
contract period. It shall not be removed from site until
completion of all piling works.
The Contractor shall visit the site and take note of close
proximity of the existing building nearby which shall be
adequately and safely protected against settlements,
structural defects and pollution during the period of
construction. Settlement monitor
The Piling Contractor shall undertake any remedies as
consequential defects of the existing building and surrounding
arising from piling operation.

Accuracy And Tolerance

The Contractor shall ensure the absolute true to position
vertically of all piles by providing all necessary guide rails etc.
during driving, the cost of which are deemed to have been
included in the rate entered in the Bills of Quantities.

Handling, Lifting and Pitching

Piles shall be only be supported at the specified points and, if
necessary at additional points between them.

Care shall be taken at all stages of handling of piles to avoid

damaging the piles. If the piles are put down temporarily after
being lifted, they shall be placed on trestles or blocks located
at the lifting points.

Piles shall be lifted and pitched accurately in their positions

and on appropriate lines and levels. Where piles have been
damaged due to handling, lifting and pitching, the Contractor
shall be required to replace such piles at his own expense.

Driving

Piles shall be drive true to position. Any pile which has been
driven out of position or alignment. Care shall be taken during
driving to prevent any tendency of the concrete piles twist or
rotate.

Piles shall be drive true to the required depth and on reaching

such depth to the required set as designed or as directed by
the S.O.

Driving Sequences and Risen Piles

Piles shall be driven in an approved sequences to minimize

the detrimental effects of heave and lateral displacement of

When required by the S.O. levels and measurement shall be

taken to determine the amount of the pile and ground
movement resulting from the driving process.

Where piles have risen as a result of driving adjacent piles,

the Contractor shall submit to the S.O. his proposals for
correcting this and the avoidance of it in subsequent work.

PILING EQUIPMENT

A Provide, assemble and set up on site necessary piling

equipment utilising plant and tools and subsequently
dismantle and remove from the site on completion of piling ITEM 20,000.00

B Allow for maintaining at all times on site necessary piling

equipment utilising plant, tools, fuel, operative and associated
labour for the whole duration of the piling works including all
standing/idling time and additional cost of all fuel, operative
and associated labour ITEM 10,000.00

C Allow for the moving of necessary piling equipment for all

building utilising plant and tools in and about the site as often
and whenever necessary including all necessary dismantling
and reassembling for piling operation at respective ground
formaiton level as shown in the site plan including any
temporary staging and platform constructed at the
Contractor's own expenses to ease piling operation and any
superficial excavation to facilitate movement of piling
equipment and plant ITEM 10,000.00

Setting Out, Resurvey And As-Built-Drawings

D Allow for providing labours, peg rods, survey instruments etc.

for setting out the works by a Licensed Surveyor and on
completion of the Piling Works allow for the employment of the
same Licensed Surveyor to check and prepare drawings
showing final position. On completion of the piling works, the
contractor should submit 6 set as-built drawing for all blocks
endorsed by surveyor for S.O. approval ITEM 5,500.00

PILING RECORD

E Allow for recording, maintaining and submission of piling

results for all blocks in triplicate, as described duly signed by
the contractor and the S.O.'s representative and delivery the
same to the S.O. as the works proceeds ITEM
