COMPARISON
Similarities-
Based on a comparative study of the report of St. Gregorios High School (India) we have come to know that
Mathematics is a very important subject and plays a vital role in our life. Especially in the kitchen, we use it
unknowingly everyday. We need to know the right proportion in which we are supposed to add water,
spices and other ingredients. We usually use spoons and cups for measuring rather than graduated
cylinders and beakers.
Based on a comparative study of the reports and interviews of College Weert (Europe) we have come to
the conclusion that according to both of us Mathematics is used in the kitchen. The ratio in which
ingredients are added while making food should be balanced. Or else the recipe cannot be made properly.

Differences-
There were a number of differences in the method in which the projects on the same topic (Maths in
kitchen) was worked upon.
St. Gregorios High School (India) carried out various experiments to prove that Mathematics is important in
the kitchen. For example, they carried out an experiment to show that water and wheat flour should be
mixed in proper quantities to make perfect breads and they made their report according to the conclusions
of these experiments whereas we made our report by taking reviews of people of different age group.
College Weert (Europe) also conducted an experiment of baking cup cakes by adding different ratios of
baking powder. They carried on the project in a very amazing and enjoyable way. They made their reports
on practical based on their experiments and on the other hand our project was completely based on the
interviews conducted.
REFLECTION
Our group could work on the project under the
guidance of our teachers and learn a lot from it,
thereby successfully completing our project on
time. The interviews helped us to gain a lot of
insight and widen our spectrum of knowledge.
We were able to coordinate with each other as a
group and are enriched in our experience of
working as a team.
