 GUIDELINES FOR MEMORIAL SUBMISSION

I. FORMATTING & MODE OF SUBMISSION

1. Teams are required to follow the 20th Edition of Bluebook Citation format. The
Method of Citation of Authorities has been provided by the Student Bar Association
in Clause 8 of the Rulebook for Symbiosis Law School, Pune, Challenger-V, 2018 –
2019.
2. The Memorial shall be formatted as per the Specifications provided under Clause 7 of
the Rulebook for Symbiosis Law School, Pune – Challenger-V, 2018 – 2019.
3. Teams are required to submit THREE (3) copies of the Memorials each from
Prosecution and Defense. No participant would be allowed to submit less than 3
copies per side (in total 06 copies) of their memorials.
4. The Hard Copies must be Spiral Bound and preferably printed on Both Sides.

II. SUBMISSION-DATE & TIMING

1. The Team must submit the Soft Copy of their Memorials before the Submission
of the Hard Copy of their Memorials. On failure of submission of Soft Copy before
the Submission of Hard Copy, the Hard Copy of the Memorial of that
Participant/Team shall not be accepted. No Additional Time would be provided by the
Student Bar Association for Correction of the human error.
2. The Soft Copies of the Memorial on behalf of Appellant/Petitioner and Respondent/
Defendant (in*.doc/*.docx Format AND *pdf Format) should be sent to
moot.correspondence@symlaw.ac.in on or before 18:00 hrs. (06:00 P.M.) on
October 8th (Monday). Failure to submit both Word and PDF documents before
the stipulated time period shall lead to disqualification.
3. The body of the mail shall contain the following details apart from the memorials:
• Name
• PRN
• Contact No.

 4. The Hard Copies of the Memorials on behalf of Appellant / Petitioner and Respondent
/ Defendant must be submitted to the Student Bar Association on October 8th
(Monday) between 18:00 hrs. (6:00 P.M.) and 19:00 hrs. (7:00 P.M.) Hrs. in
ROOM No 216. (2nd Floor).

NOTE: Deductions on late submissions for soft copies and hard copies shall be
applied separately.

5. Any participant who fails to submit the Memorial within the stipulated time will be
DISQUALIFIED from the Challenger-V, Internal Elimination, 2018 – 19.
6. Any person submitting Memorial on behalf of some other Participant needs to show
the Authorization Letter from the Person on whose behalf the Student is submitting
the Memorial, and only on the approval by the Convener or Co-Convener, SLSP-
Student Bar Association; the Memorial Submission shall be accepted, before the
stipulated time.

III. PENALTIES:
1. SOFT COPIES
On October 8th, 2018 (Monday)
• Memorials Submitted (Soft Copy) after 18:00 hrs. but before 18:15 hrs. shall
attract deduction of 20 marks per side.
• Memorial Submitted (Soft Copy) after 18:15 hrs. but before 18:30 hrs. shall
attract deduction of 40 marks per side.
• Participants submitting Memorial (soft-copy) after 18:30 hrs. will be
DISQUALIFIED from Challenger-V, Internal Moot Elimination 2018 – 19.
2. HARD COPIES
On October 8th, 2018 (Monday)
• Memorials Submitted (Hard Copy) after 19:00 hrs. but before 19:15 hrs. shall
attract deduction of 20 marks per side.
• Memorial Submitted (Hard Copy) after 19:15 hrs. but before 19:30 hrs. shall
attract deduction of 40 marks per side.
• Participants submitting Memorial (hard-copy) after 19:30 hrs. will be
DISQUALIFIED from Challenger-V, Internal Moot Elimination 2018 – 19.

Beyond 19:30 hrs. DISQUALIFIED

IV. GENERAL PENALTIES:

1) COPYING OF ANCILLARY PAGE shall attract a deduction of 20 marks per side.
2) SUBSTANTIAL COPYING OF ANCILLARY PAGES shall attract a deduction of 30
marks per side.
3) COPYING OF ALL ANCILLARY PAGES shall attract a deduction of 40 marks per
side.
4) COPYING OF ARGUMENTS ADVANCED shall attract a deduction of 50 marks per
side.
5) SUBSTANTIAL COPYING OF ARGUMENTS ADVANCED will lead to
DISQUALIFICATION from Challenger-V, Internal Moot Elimination 2018 – 19.

NOTE: Any Team failing to submit their APPELLANT / PETITIONER MEMORIAL

and / or RESPONDENT/DEFENDANT MEMORIAL on October 8th, 2018 (Monday)
and/or is absent from RESEARCHERS’ TEST and / or is absent from ORAL
PLEADINGS on the day of the pleadings will be DISQUALIFIED from Challenger-V,
Internal Moot Elimination 2018– 19.
