CMS refocusing goals

with Chittum’s return

Expectations are being
reset in 2018 for Clinton
Middle School football
with the return of previ-
ous head coach Clay Chit-
tum, and his blended staff
of old and new faces.
Chittum is back and so

 They’ll be joined by new
Clinton seventh grade receiver Isaiah McDow faces Dylan Blundell and

with the CMS squads.
This staff looks to rebuild
the tradition of winning
at the junior high level.
Starting with the eighth
grade team, Chittum said
his first year with this
group will be an uncom-
mon one. The offense
is going to be able to do
things that are unusual
for Clinton’s normal
middle school teams.
“Honestly, I’ll be dis-
appointed if we don’t
have really a pretty good
record by the end of the
year,” Chittum said.

tum said the front seven
is fast. Sumagang will
start at outside lineback-

Edwards and Bennett will
try to stop the run as the
two inside linebackers.
Nick O’Neale will be a
versatile weapon on both
sides of the ball. Chittum
said he can play him any-
where in the secondary
and at outside backer/
defensive end. Hill plays
at strong safety/rover
this year after starting at
linebacker. He and Gaunt
(free safety) will patrol
the secondary. It gives
the defense two smart,
