Strategic Planning Approach

I am certain that foremost in your mind is the question – what is this activity ? what
will we do for the next 36 hours?

Take the cue from our COO. We will be talking. But it is a productive talk.

Seriously though, today up to tomorrow, we hope listen to each other and then
agree to some rules and some action plans. How will we do it ? We already started
several weeks ago when we asked you to submit your SWOT worksheet.

That is the first part - Assessing. We did an honest assessment of ourself, our
organization by doing a SWOT analysis. Originated by Albert S Humphrey in the
1960s, SWOT Analysis is as useful serious strategy tool.

Next, we did some kind of diagnostic process. It is to make sense of all the SWOT
responses you gave. For this part we did an affinity diagram, in which we tabulated
the responses and discerned a common theme from the similarity, parallel views,
affiliated underlying causes and interconnectivity between and among the various
answers for the SWOT. By doing so, we are able to answer the following tactical
questions –
Are we strong for what?
Do we suffer from any illness/limitations?
In what way can we be better?
What should we be wary of?

Third step is for a visualization of our “physique” and “psyche”. This is a “look in
the mirror” . We face our self. And for this we come up with a snapshot. Perhaps
akin to having an x-ray image to help us see how we are.

Next is we try to measure ourself armed with the awareness of our physique and
psyche by the set standards of a successful turnaround.
